Is You Raise Me Up a Missed Opportunity for Postcard’s of Ireland

Sure, many would say for having one behind a Photographic Scenery Landscape.

Is Amazing Grace, and Danny Boy found with every lineup more so than You Raise Me Up is?

is Amazing Grace more powerful to have and Danny Boy than OG You Raise Me Up!

You Raise Me Up isn’t forgotten.

Honestly, I like that You Raise Me Up (hereby referred to as YRMU for convenience’s sake) isn’t on those. I understand that songs like YRMU, Amazing Grace, and Danny Boy are classics, but things are getting to the point of redundancy. I kind of wish CW could take a little break from constantly playing those for just a few albums and then come back with newer arrangements. (I would also love to see Danny Boy as a solo song again, especially with Muirgen singing it).

I also feel that YRMU is rather different from the overall aesthetic of Ancient Land and Postcards From Ireland. I’m surprised it was included in Destiny.

It’s rather insane that every single non-Christmas DVD has Danny Boy on it. And although Danny Boy has never been on a Christmas album, they still play it at Christmas concerts! I love the song too, but there’s more material you can cover! 😭

I do see it a bit differently now since when I wrote this post, I was perhaps over focusing on the lineup.

I think now a recording of Mo Ghile Mear (My Galant Star) with Chloe and the Energetic Dancing Choreography from the Tour would been beautiful as a recording.

I do see your point profoundly that You Raise Me Up just doesn’t fit the setting of Ancient Land and Postcard’s From Ireland, it wasn’t featured on Believe either.

You ask why it was featured on Destiny, well I think that was as a tributary to Celtic Woman and an introduction Salute to a beginning new era with Celtic Woman with this lineup which kinds of felt as if in a way they was putting this song to bed. It also finished like a mini celtic woman segment with the four before reintroducing Meav. Note: You Raise Me Up was used in the middle and not the end.

Destiny was really interesting because looking at the Dresses what usually you’d think the First Half Dresses commonly be used for the Second Half to ending was flipped and used in the beginning, and The Second Half blue ones which I don’t know went with a color scheme like water was a new style, a new way not seen in Specials before where everyone had the same color but different tone aside from Christmas Tour’s and Special HFC.

I mistyped. I meant that every DVD has Danny Boy on it, but I was actually wrong. Believe and Destiny don’t have it. Believe also doesn’t have YRMU and neither have Amazing Grace, which is interesting as those two are probably the most aesthetically divergent of all the albums.

Here’s all of the versions of Danny Boy throughout the years:

-Celtic Woman (Méav solo)
-A New Journey DVD
-Songs From The Heart DVD and Amazon bonus track
-Emerald
-Voices Of Angels Bonus Track
-Homecoming
-Ancient Land DVD and Digital Deluxe
-Postcards From Ireland DVD
-20th Anniversary

So it’s not as excessive as I thought, though maybe Ancient Land and Postcards From Ireland could have done without it.

For a Hot Minute I was like no Celtic Woman Danny Boy on the Original. ;D
Also SFTH was famous for the group version!

Since you are newer maybe I thought you meant by the more recent DVD’s as I don’t have much of the recent ones!

Muirgen would be exquisite for Danny Boy solo!

She absolutely would be!! I remember seeing them perform it live when I went to the Symphony show in Grand Prairie, Texas. She sang the end of the second verse (“Oh Danny Boy, oh Danny Boy, I love you so”) and she gave me chills. I don’t even like it as a group song and I was bawling in my seat. That whole concert was magical.

Eabha and Muirgen were great at it, but Muirgen has something special there, absolutely best part. I don't recall a member where you'd be so excited to hear whatever they'd sing for a flavorful performance. :P
