Best Song Version Part 4: Níl Sé’n Lá

NOTE: please keep in mind for all of these that I don’t have any of the DVDs (yet) and haven’t been to any concerts (yet) so although there’s probably some special version they did with Alex, Muirgen, Hayley, and Mairéad Z (the secret lost member only the real fans know about), I’m going off of somewhat limited experience and these are the only versions I know of so far.

My personal favourite is the Emerald version. Máiréad’s fiddle is absolutely incredible, especially the drop (the one that was originally a bass solo in Songs From The Heart) with the scratches. I also love the Voices Of Angels version, but I’m not too fond of them changing everything to English. And of course, Songs From The Heart is a classic, especially with the drum introduction.

I love all three for different reasons, but my pick is the original it’s the original performance and the type of ceili song that includes Chloe!  The Emerald version has really fast paced dance choreography which to me is the beginning start where dancing choreography is starting to be a crucial element to Celtic Woman uh-oh !!
Voice’s of Angel’s version on tour has really beautiful choreography such a rare find in video footage if you do capture it!*
