Thanks for the heads-up. I just got a ticket. As of right now, it says 13 tickets left.

PS. Question to those of you who use StageIt. What is the range of tipping during a show? i.e. What is common etiquette?

As someone who has been to a few hundred of these, I'm probably qualified to answer. 😂

Unfortunately it's not a simple answer. There's a very high variance depending on the performer and thus the attendees. It also varries widely depending on whether or not there are rewards for top tippers.

Tip 1:

Don't feel like you have to tip. In North America, the tipping culture is ridiculous in my opinion. Tip in support of a performer you like (knowing it helps them do what they love) or because they did something amazing during the show, not because it feels like a requirement.

Tip 2:

Don't feel like tipping a little or not at all is disrispecting the performer. Most performers are not going to feel insulted. While the performers surely appreciate it and can see who tipped and tipped what in the comments, they're not going to go hunting for people that didn't tip. They'll just be appreciative of the people that did and understand that not everybody could.

Tip 3:

Don't tip more than you can afford. Set a limit beforehand knowing the maximum you're going to tip and don't go over it. Especially in shows that have rewards for top tippers like this one. The bidding rewards for highly valued rewards could get really crazy.

Tip 4:

If you're going after a reward, you have to tip before the show ends. StageIt considers that the cutoff when it calculates the tips and send a list of top tippers to the performers. I'm not 100% sure if the rewards during the "encore" time period are counted in every show. The safest bet would be to tip before the regular timer ends. You can do it early in the show and then just go to full screen and ignore the chat so it doesn't become a distraction. The chat stays open after the show and you will still be allowed to tip. The performer will get their share of it, but StageIt doesn't count it towards rewards.

Tip 5:

The more people attend the show, the harder it is to get in the top 5 or top 10, because there will be more people on average with the ability to tip a bunch and there will be more people participating in a bidding war.

Other Tipping Tendencies:

There's usually a few people that tip a bunch and a bunch of people who tip a little or not at all.

I'd say the range for a typically attendee that chooses to tip is around $10 - $30 USD (which is 100 - 300 notes in StageIt currency). That's probably reasonable, if it doesn't break the bank. In shows I actually tip, I generally don't go over $30 unless there's a reward I'm going after because I attend so many of them I would go broke if I tipped a ton every show.

At The Brave Collide / Chloë shows, there's usually a few people tipping $50-100 (500-1000 notes) and most people that tip will do $10-30.

When there are rewards involved, people tend to tip more. It's common to see $50 or even $100 or more in either small chunks during the show, or all at once near the end. At some of the shows where Mairead Carlin had highly value rewards, where were bidding wars in the $500 - $1500 range. I've been to StageIt's for former Celtic Thunder performers that had multiple people tipping $1000+ per show ... like every week. The chat window will just be filled with people with seemingly unlimited financial reservoirs tipping 1000 notes over and over and over. 😂

Try not to get intimidated or feel like you're not tipping enough. Some people can go crazy like that. Don't feel like you have to.

For this particular show, I think the top 3 tippers will be committing several thousand notes (several hundred dollars US). Someone might be able to sneak into the top 10 with 500 notes ($50), but most of the top 10 is going to be people tipping at least $100. So just have a reasonable expectation about the rewards.

Hopefully that helps.

That is super helpful. Thanks, Tom. At least I know what to expect. I think I like this advice the best because the whole point of it (for me) is to enjoy the show, not to monitor everyone else's tipping & chatting.

IDK why I have never attended a StageIt show. Especially during the pandemic, I know Celtic Thunder was doing a lot of StageIt shows.

Do you guys know what it took to get into the Top 10 Supporters? Hopefully one of you made it. I went to full screen most of the time. But I did see the tips were flying!

@GlenS: Not sure when you are deleting this thread. So I posted here anyways.

To be in the top 10 it is the top 10 tippers and some of the people tip into the 100's of dollars so you haveto have the money to spend for tips to get into them spots. That 1 person i think it was CWforlife they tipped around 400.00 or more and I am sure they were the top supporter

I will be moving this post up to Tara's thread so it can stay

The cutoff for top ten was somewhere in the range of $100-130 this time.

Almost forgot. Wasn't there a reward of Tara's CD for tipping $20? Let me know if anyone receives theirs.

(On a side note, I am not confident in the USPS lately. Among other things, I am expecting CDs from another CW sent like 2 months ago. I think it is lost or stolen.)
