I have not read your post all the way through yet. But I did want to say quickly:Thanks for posting your album review. In general, I would love to see more album and concert reviews on here.I'll post back later...
I got to take my time to read your review. (I don't like to rush through things.)Very nice review, and well thought out! Thanks! Auld Lang Syne is always one of my fav songs at the Christmas concerts. This version is distinctly different from my two fav versions (Lisa L's version as you mentioned, and The Magic of Christmas w/ "opera Mairead"). I also need to listen to the album more to pick out my real favs. For ex, I notice something new in Silver Bells and Drummer Boy each time I hear them. They did a great job of making it new, or doing something different at least.
I know it’s been a while but I just listened to Codail A Linbh again…Muirgen is absolutely incredible on the album!!! They should’ve just let this be her solo and had Wexford Carol as a group performance like in The Magic Of Christmas…or given her both…I’m not fond of preferential treatment but I’d make an exception here…I think Codail A Linbh is actually my favourite song from the album. I wasn’t too fond of the production at first (and I still think it could be better), but I like it more with each listen. It definitely was begging for a harp, though. I wish they’d given this to Tara and maybe Little Drummer Boy or something to Ciara instead. Or even have some other band member play it! But anyway, everyone performs amazingly, and Muirgen is absolutely magnificent.I honestly think Muirgen has the potential to be my favourite Celtic Woman member ever (or maybe second to Órla). I don’t think any of the other CW vocalists have been able to move me as much as Muirgen has. The sheer emotive, beautiful power of her voice is unmatched. Anyway, this turned into more of an ode to Muirgen than anything else, but that’s kind of how I feel with every CW song with her in it! (Except for maybe some of the PFI ones because she was done quite dirtily there 😭).

When you say PFI did her dirty all I can assume was she was given only one solo.

Tara as well, for even though she got two solos, she was drowned out a lot in the sound mixing. Megan was the only one who got decent treatment 😭Also, I don’t think Down By The Salley Gardens did Muirgen justice. It’s a great song, but the higher range they had her sing in doesn’t really suit her or the song, and although this is a personal preference, it bothers me that they changed the pronouns! 😩 I promise, the LGBTQ mafia isn’t going to come after you if you sing about being in love with a woman one time! What’s weirdest to me is that CW is inconsistent with it. One might think it’s to do with different members but Mairéad didn’t change the pronouns in Ae Fond Kiss but she did in Red Is The Rose. I don’t understand 😭It also really does not work for the song! It’s supposed to be self-reflective, and singing it from the lass’ perspective doesn’t make sense. The worst part is “but he was young and foolish, and now he is full of tears.” This isn’t supposed to be gloating about how sad your ex is! 😭This probably should be on a different thread, I just have issues with PFI 😭. The Lakes Of Pontchartrain is magnificent, though.

The Lakes Of Pontchartrain is magnificent, though.Oh woweeee!!!I am learning new thing's. I've been singing Down By the Salley Garden's and actually flipped it as it should be (for another reason)🤭As a matter of fact if that song is about self reflection then for myself I've been switching it for no reason!!I am not use to checking on that because Celtic Woman has always since it's start has had the women singing all the song's as is, they've never changed the pronouns in order to fit them or make it fit them. If they are actually doing it now then oh. Ae fond Kiss came before.Indeed Chloe had only one solo and listening back to Down By the Salley Gardens to me it fits Muirgen and for me what annoys is the sound volume is not strong loud enough which is shocking me referencing that for PFI album song. Even Amazing Grace is not as loud because I'm a geek at wanting to hear Susan doing Mairead's part in my ears. Now both I listen on YouTube so if an album CD or DVD experience is different then I'm not aware of it.I absolutely love both of Megan's songs, and those two really showcases the operatic abilities in her voice. It's common that each special is a highlight for a non new member and for here Megan is it.Another example Destiny was Susan, to me Ancient Land was Mairead C, and Eabha or Eabha was Homecoming.
