My great-grandma died in January, and my grandparents found an ANJ CD while going through her things. I finally got it and noticed that they forgot to mention Hayley in The Last Rose Of Summer! She’s mentioned in every other song she appears in, but I guess they just forgot her in this one.

Méav does actually have a solo rendition of this on her CD A Celtic Journey that I would highly recommend checking out, though!

Has this typo appeared on anyone else’s copies of the CD?

I’ve seen things like that happen before and I’m always confused as to why? 😂, but I think my questions are more on the side of what songs they consider “duets” and which ones they consider solos. I see this mainly on 20, Tara and Meav are both credited for Lay Your Head Down, however Tara has the same level of involvement (in my opinion) on A Stór Mo Chroí and that’s considered Muirgen’s solo. So I wonder if they’re often mistakes made on the graphic design side of things or just a slightly odd way of categorizing the songs, though I have zero musical training so I don’t know if there’s actual differences between them.

That is interesting…I also noticed later on in the booklet that they didn’t credit Máiréad for her violin parts on The Voice.

I do wonder if they didn’t credit Tara for A Stór Mo Chroí so it would seem more like a standalone Muirgen song…after all, I don’t think Mairéad and Emma had Tara play on their solos. Méav’s probably didn’t matter as much because she wasn’t an actual member and she also joined for Dúlamán.

I also wonder if they didn’t credit Hayley for The Last Rose Of Summer so the solo count would seem even for the vocalists, as the ANJ version of Danny Boy wasn’t on the CD (although I don’t think there was much of a difference between that and the debut version). But it’s still a weird decision because TLROS is pretty obviously not a Méav solo! She doesn’t even come in until the second verse!

I looked through my cd of Nollaig from last year and the credits are also a bit confusing. Some of the songs list either Ciara or Tara, but some have no violinist listed at all. It’s also perplexing how Tara Howley is only credited on one song (The Bells of Dublin/Christmas Eve/Navan in the Snow), making it seem like she’s a special guest on the album (which she was), yet on the other side of the pamphlet it has a list of the members of cw (Mairéad, Muirġen, Caitrionas, Tara M, and Ciara) then it has the “special guest” listed as just Sibeal, and Tara Howley is credited as part of the band!

I always thought that The Bells Of Dublin/Christmas Eve/Navan In The Snow was meant to highlight Tara H rather than be the only song she's featured in, but that definitely is still weird that she only gets that one mention.

I think there are definitely some tracks that don't have a violinist. River is the one I know for certain, I remember that as being the only solo that didn't have Ciara backing at the show I went to. And I think they might have wanted to only credit the vocalists for the solos so they seemed more even. I think it's confirmed that Tara accompanied Muirgen for The Wexford Carol, but I'm uncertain about Don Oiche Ud i mBeithil (on computer). All I can say for certain is that Ciara accompanied Caitriona for the live version. I also wouldn't be surprised if Silver Bells was just the vocalists, but I can't remember how it was live and I'm too lazy to grab my CD from my room (in all fairness, I am supposed to be working  :-\).

Also, I just now realised that there's an alternate universe where Tara Howley joins CW as a permanent member and we're left with another Lisa/Mairead situation on our hands. Tara McNeill also returns to CW in this universe for maximum confusion.
