Favourite Solos From Each Member?

So now, each member to have appeared on an album has had at least two solos (I thought Alex only had one but apparently she had more on the DVD, so I’ll trust the more experienced on this one and count her  )

So what are your favourite solos by each of them? Here’s mine:

Méav: Danny Boy, although I think Sí Do Mhaimeó Í shows off her voice best, Danny Boy never fails to make me cry. Méav is absolutely perfect, and her haunting, soulful voice makes this rendition perfect.

Órla: Isle Of Innisfree

Lisa K: The Voice

Chloë: Galway Bay

Hayley: Lascia Ch’io Pianga

Lynn: Carolina Rua

Alex: You’ll Be In My Heart (to be honest, the only original solo of hers I know, although if anyone knows of any others, I’d be happy to listen!  ). I also like her rendition of The Voice when she covered for Lisa K in 2008 (and again covering for Susan in 2017, although I prefer the David Downes arrangement), but I’m not sure if that counts or not.

Lisa L: Auld Lang Syne

Mairéad C: County Down (her most underrated solo)

Éabha: Moorlough Shore

Susan: Caledonia (2013 Version) or The Voice (2013 Version ) (I don’t want to put the same track over and over but I love this song so much 😭)

Megan: The Lakes Of Pontchartrain

Muirgen: A Stór Mo Chroí

Emma: Spancil Hill

Ciara: The Bells Of Dublin/Christmas Eve/Navan In The Snow

Caitríona: N/A for some reason 😭😭 why Brian Byrne, why 😭😭

I left Tara and Máiréad N last because it was too hard to choose! My actual favourite solos of them are violin solos from group performances (Téir Abhaile Riú/Níl Sé’n Lá/The Sky And The Dawn And The Sun and Ancient Land respectively), but I think my favourite pure solos of theirs are:

Tara: For The Love Of A Princess

NOTE: I haven’t listened to every single song of theirs, but I’ve listened to most of them (I’m mostly just missing Christmas songs), so my opinions could change as I listen to more. For example, I originally called Mairéad Carlin’s best solo A Time For Us on a TikTok I made because I hadn’t listened to County Down before.

Éabha: Garden of Eden (Ancient Land)  ... she has other fantastic songs that show off her voice, like How Can I Keep from Singing, but she wrote Garden of Eden herself and it's super-fun to listen to, so it's my pick.

Emma: Rainbow (20th Anniversary)

Hayley: Scarborough Fair (A New Journey)

Lisa Kelly: Follow On (Believe)

Lisa Lambe: Bridge Over Troubled Water (Emerald)

Lynn: Carolina Rua (Songs from the Heart)

Mairéad Carlin: County Down (Ancient Land)

Máiréad Nesbitt: Granuaile's Dance (A New Journey)

Méav: Silent Night (Home for Christmas)  ... the Christmas Celebration version is great too, but that last note on the Home for Christmas version is divine)

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s been a recording of it uploaded. I took a full video of it on the tour but haven’t figured out a way to post it onto YouTube or anything. I really hope they cover that version again at some point on an album!

Originally I’d assume My Heart Was Home Again would been her solo if she had stayed on for Believe.

If we are choosing by songs from an album or DVD or release then great, I would make another list from including tour performances for example Lynn’s version of The Voice and Danny Boy is out of this world!
