CW Musicians and Choir / Re: Is John Hunt Leaving??

To me, it's not unusual that a group keeps changing members, especially when, in the case of CW, they started like 20 years ago.

Yeah, but what’s odd is how many people are leaving right now. This is just after Lloyd Butler left. It’s a bit jarring.

I keep getting emails from various venues in my area advertising various "tribute" bands.  When does CW become a tribute group?

Not to go off topic, but there is a CW tribute band:

Fun fact: they’re following me on TikTok :)

I tend to think it is true also. Although John Hunt's socials still say "Bagpiper for Celtic Woman". So I hope it is not official, and he comes back for the New Era tour. Too many changes...  :'(

For her new solo work, here's a nice article and interview from RTE.

I found this post while doomstalking on Instagram (like doomscrolling, but you’re specifically stalking someone’s profile, or in this case, their mentions.).

I haven’t seen any other mention of him leaving CW, though, but on the other hand, it seems odd for some random person to post misinformation about a fairly niche subject.

But if this is true, this would imply some sort of mass exodus from CW. As I said when Lloyd Butler left, is this merely a cascade of circumstances causing people to leave, or is there some issue with management or something?

John Hunt did get married recently, so maybe he’s leaving to start a family? However, he hasn’t posted anything about his supposed departure. All of these departures have me so confuzzled  :o

Celtic Culture / Cool Irish easter egg in a game announced
« Last post by urbanracer34 on February 16, 2026, 12:46:47 PM »
One of my fave media franchises is the dothack series out of Japan.

They just teased a new game today.

In the announcement was the words "Imirt Cróga Iontach Tús Pianmhar Ciúnas Eochair Lionn dubh Uilíoch Olc Beithíoch"

I ran it through chatGPT and this is what it said:

Those words are Irish (Gaeilge). They’re each separate words, not really a natural sentence as written. Here are the closest English translations word-by-word:

Imirt = to play / playing

Cróga = brave

Iontach = wonderful / fantastic

Tús = beginning / start

Pianmhar = painful

Ciúnas = silence / quiet

Eochair = key

Lionn dubh = “black beer” (often used for stout, sometimes associated with Guinness)

Uilíoch = universal

Olc = evil / bad

Beithíoch = beast / animal (sometimes “brutish”)

So as a phrase, it reads like a string of dramatic keywords, roughly:
“Play, brave, wonderful, beginning, painful, silence, key, stout, universal, evil, beast.”

I thought it was cool that the Irish language made it into a Japanese media franchise.

Ciara Ní Mhurcú / Re: Ciara as a member of BIIRD

I'm disappointed I never got to see Ciara w/ CW.

I was thinking this idea out of nowhere. How about BIIRD tour with CW as an opening act? They are doing a partial tour with Ed Sheeran, for example. I'm not sure of the logistics of making that happen, or if it makes financial sense. But I had to post that somewhere! :P
