I saw the second show of the tour, in Denver on December 4th!  I took a picture of the set list, and I paid special attention to which songs Ciara played the violin in.  Here's the set list for the Denver show with all info combined:

"Brian's Bottle Opener" (instrumental medley of Christmas carols, featuring Tara & John)
- (Lloyd introduces the ladies)
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen (3 singers + Ciara)
Hark the Herald Angels Sing (3 singers)
- (Mairéad introduces new members)
O' Holy Night (3 singers)
Wexford Carol (Muirgen + Ciara)
Codail a Linbh (3 singers + Ciara, arranged by music director Brian Byrne)
- (Mairéad talks)
River, by Joanie Mitchell (Mairéad solo)
Little Drummer Boy (3 singers + Ciara)
Xmas Song (3 singers, replacing Ciara's Silent Night)
Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (3 singers)
In the Bleak Midwinter / Going Home (3 singers)
- (Caitríona talks about how this is her dream come true)
Joy to the World

= (intermission)

Carol of the Bells (3 singers)
Silver Bells (3 singers)
- (Mairéad talks)
Don Oíche Úd i mBeithil (Caitríona solo)
We Three Kings (3 singers + Ciara)
Nollaig na mBan (3 singers + Ciara)
Various Irish tunes, I think (Ciara solo) *
- (Mairéad talks)
Danny Boy (3 singers + Ciara)
Sleigh Ride (instrumental, fun whip sounds)
It's Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas / Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (3 singers + Ciara)
- (Caitríona introduces Auld Lang Syne)
Auld Lang Syne (3 singers + Ciara)
White Christmas (3 singers + Ciara)

Some notes from Denver:

Having a first row seat was so amazing both in terms of audio quality and visual quality!  When I bought a ticket for Orchestra 1 Row C, I thought I was in the third row but it was actually the first row!

When they came out on stage, Muirgen waved to me, Caitríona winked (she said she wasn't sure if she was allowed to wave: this is her 2nd show!), and Mairéad smiled at me.

I took dozens of great photos.  The three singers, celticwomanofficial, and john_hunt_music all reposted my stories on Instagram.  Caitríona DM'd me to get my photos, so I made a ZIP file for her and others.

After the show, I ran into Caitríona in the lobby (because she has Denver relatives she wanted to see).  I also waited outisde in the cold near the busses.  There was a family of three waiting with me, and I told them it often takes 30+ minutes for the ladies to arrive, but they left at about 10:30pm, leaving me alone.  (They left because a van driver gave them bad info about where the ladies were.)  Then the ladies started arriving one-by-one around 10:40pm, in this order: Muirgen, Ciara, Caitríona, Mairéad.  Muirgen called out my name and came over even though I was looking at my phone and she could have just slipped by.  It was my first time meeting Ciara.  And it was super cute that Caitríona grabbed Tara H. from the bus and she walked all the way over to say hi to me!  So I had lots of little 2-minute conversations and hugs, and I think the ladies appreciated that I drove for 17 hours from Salt Lake City to Denver to see them perform again!  I don't think I gave them enough compliments, but maybe they know that I appreciate them because of my actions.

Now I'm in Moab, Utah, which is my stop for tonight before I head back to Las Vegas.

Anything worth noting at the merch table?

Hey Andy!  You might be the reason I still write these reports.  Here's a pic of the merch table.

I did the show in Denver and it was super awesome!  But I need to go to sleep now, maybe I'll write about it on Saturday/Sunday when I'm on the road again.

I saw the Celtic Woman perform yesterday in Salt Lake City at Abravanel Hall!  It was Caitríona, Ciara, and Tara Howley's first performace with Celtic Woman!  It was a really great concert, and that's why I'm planning to see it again tomorrow night in Denver.

White Christmas

Some notes from Salt Lake City:

During "Danny Boy" is the best time to take pictures because that's the only time the ladies stand together.  They stood on the left side of the stage (the middle of the left side).

I wanted to give a standing ovation at the end of the first half but no one else was standing.  I'll do it anyway next time!

Caitríona's performace of "Don Oíche Úd i mBeithil" is great.  You can hear her sing the same song on the album "A Long Way From Home" by "Irish Christmas in America'.  (Or you can hear Sibéal sing it on Nollaig by Celtic Woman.)

Caitríona accidentally started introducing Auld Lang Syne two songs early (right before Sleigh Ride).  Lloyd said something to her, then he handled it really coolly.  She slowly and confidently said "Oh, I'm getting way ahead of myself.  I'm just going to walk off stage and pretend that didn't happen!"  Then she walked off stage at a comfortable pace.  If it were me I would have been nervous and talked really fast and rushed off stage, but she's a calm pro!

Anyone else going to Denver?

Celtic Woman / Re: Las Vegas residency?
« on: May 23, 2024, 04:57:15 PM »
They did 5 shows at the Venetian from November 22 to 30, 2013.  Those were Mairéad's first CW shows in the US.
Sometimes Mairéad posts her photo of the CW ad inside the Las Vegas airport from that time.  Unfortunately, that was about 4 years before I knew about them!

See Tom's spreadsheet: http://www.celticwomanforum.net/index.php?topic=1419

I'd say that's too short to be called a "residency".  We have lots of touring broadway shows that come here and do more than that.

At the show in Las Vegas last night, Mairéad said "Viva Las Vegas!" when she spoke in the second half!  I think she really likes it here!

General Discussion / PBS show: Ireland in Music
« on: December 31, 2023, 01:10:47 PM »
I stayed up til 2am last night so I could catch a show called Ireland in Music (Sclimpini) on my local PBS station.

Each episode shows about six different Irish bands of various genres performing in various scenic settings.

For example, on last night's episode, which is titled "a tri", there was a rock band performing at the top of the Tower Museum in Derry, and the group "Irish Women in Harmony" performed their take on A Woman's Heart.

Eabha McMahon / Re: Inaugural Celtic World Forum experience
« on: September 23, 2023, 06:54:46 PM »
Well put, Tom!  I don't feel like writing long essays about this stuff anymore, but I've saved shortcuts to your writing and Mike Brown's for future reference.  It was a really amazing event and I'm so glad I got to be there.  Éabha and Shane are geniuses for pulling this off!

Regarding the thing of artists meeting each other for the first time: a few of us got to witness Orla Fallon meeting Megan Walsh for the first time.  It was at lunch on the third day, the breakfast room.

"Just a little problem: my little boy doesn't want to hold my hand ... I think I terrified him."

Oh, I'm guessing it was Chloe.  She sits next to a little boy in Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Eabha McMahon / Re: It looks like Eabha’s expecting again
« on: September 08, 2023, 05:36:38 PM »
Oh yeah, she told us all at the Celtic World Forum that she's expecting a second baby in February.  I don't think it's a secret.  So Noa will get a sibling.  Great news!

It didn't seem to affect her work at the forum at all.  She was there all day and gave beautiful vocal performances each night.  She even did the Riverdance dancing workshop with us!

Thanks for the writeup and the link to the radio interview, Tracie!  I'm glad you and Gregg had such a great time in Derry.

That sounds fun.  Too bad I couldn't figure out how to watch it... I looked at the celticwomanofficial stories on Friday night and didn't see it.

Lynn Hilary / Lynn's comments about the Irish music industry
« on: April 08, 2023, 03:07:17 AM »
Go to 1h02m25s in the link below to hear Lynn call into a radio show and give her very pessimistic view of what it's like to be a singer/songwriter in Ireland:

I think she posted this on Facebook tonight, but then her post disappeared.

A Christmas Symphony Tour 2022 / Re: Ornament
« on: December 29, 2022, 07:12:01 PM »
Cool!  I have an ornament with a different design that just says "Celtic Woman", but it's still red.  I forget where I bought it but it was years ago.

Postcards from Ireland / Re: Does you have the DVD?
« on: July 04, 2022, 03:49:21 PM »
I watched the dvd over the weekend does anyone have software that can read the dvd is recorded at im thinking it around 360 P maybe as high as 560 P while watching the close up were a little on the grainy side.

Glen, when I put the Postcards from Ireland DVD into my computer and play it with VLC, I can see it is 720p.  I think that is the standard for DVDs... I'm not even sure if you can make them lower resolution.
