So there wasn't departure messages for Tara and Emma? Normally that's what they do before any new members step into the scene..

2
Reading all this has me muzzled up as to whom and what will happen :P
I do see Emma returning, Muirgen isn't leaving anytime soon. For some reason I sense Mairead Carlin isn't going anywhere. As for Tara back oh we love her. This is making it look like the two newbies are temporary or temporary in this season. Let's remember when Orla left and Alex became a full time member even though it seemed they wanted her even if it meant alternating with Orla which never happened..

Well, there have been instances of members being announced as temporary and eventually staying, such as Alex and Susan. I do agree that Ciara is a temporary replacement, but I’m not so sure about Caitríona because she just left ANÚNA. However, this could be a coincidence. Maybe she’s temporarily joining Celtic Woman to get a larger audience for a solo career?

Not sure if this is the right place to post it, but it seems as though Emma isn’t coming back. I don’t know if they normally announce when members leave, but Caitríona is singing in the teaser song advertising the A New Era Tour (which I am almost certain is a new song, and Caitríona is clearly singing in it), and she hasn’t been mentioned in months. Mairéad C is still being promoted as a full-fledged member, so my theory about Caitríona replacing her is highly unlikely as well.

I still think Tara will come back (although I do love Ciara), though. I think she’ll come back in the middle of the A New Era Tour when Ciara leaves for BIIRD’s spring tour.

See and that’s what I would think is that if Tara were to come back and Ciara has a commitment to Biird’s spring tour, then the most obvious option would be for them to just 🔁 switch. But with the new tour and (probably) album being called “A New Era” is why I’m a bit doubtful about it. I feel like the “new era” points to a future with a new violinist since whenever they get a new one, such as when Tara replaced Màiréad, there’s a new sound and a new feel to the group, and the music.

I think “A New Era” is more about Brian Byrne’s direction than the members themselves…the term “Era” has also been quite popular since Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, so maybe CW is trying to capitalise off that…

CW has also had sound changes without changing members. Gavin Murphy replaced David Downes without Máiréad leaving, and Tara didn’t leave when Daragh came in for PFI or Brian for the 20th anniversary album…

A New Era I assume is now CW proceeding on past the 20th Anniversary. A New Era indeed.
It's good news that Celtic Woman still continues on forward.
Feels comfort to have Mairead Carlin aboard  :P

It’s lovely to see Caitríona having Don Oíche Ud I mBeithil. I wonder why they gave it to Sibéal on the album.

Is this setlist going to be the same for each concert? I’m seeing the one in Grand Prairie on Sunday.

JINKS!!!!!!!!!!# Will Be You’re Very First Celtic Woman Live in Concert EXPERIENCE!  :o

Welcome Welcome Maddie! :-)

I know it’s been a while but I just listened to Codail A Linbh again…Muirgen is absolutely incredible on the album!!! They should’ve just let this be her solo and had Wexford Carol as a group performance like in The Magic Of Christmas…or given her both…I’m not fond of preferential treatment but I’d make an exception here…

I think Codail A Linbh is actually my favourite song from the album. I wasn’t too fond of the production at first (and I still think it could be better), but I like it more with each listen. It definitely was begging for a harp, though. I wish they’d given this to Tara and maybe Little Drummer Boy or something to Ciara instead. Or even have some other band member play it!

But anyway, everyone performs amazingly, and Muirgen is absolutely magnificent.

I honestly think Muirgen has the potential to be my favourite Celtic Woman member ever (or maybe second to Órla). I don’t think any of the other CW vocalists have been able to move me as much as Muirgen has. The sheer emotive, beautiful power of her voice is unmatched.

Anyway, this turned into more of an ode to Muirgen than anything else, but that’s kind of how I feel with every CW song with her in it! (Except for maybe some of the PFI ones because she was done quite dirtily there 😭).

Oh my goodness, I too feel the same ever since Muirgen stepped on the scene.

One of my favorite moments about the 20th Anniversay Special is on Dawning of The Day when you see Mairead slowly turning gazing at Muirgen as she shines on her signature parts.

When you say PFI did her dirty all I can assume was she was given only one solo.

I really love that the musical director at that time recognized Susan with the acknowledgement that she would not be able to tour.
So having Susan on Amazing Grace with The Ancient Land Castle in the Landscape backdrop was some how to me giving a little outdoor castle special makeup for she wasn't able to partake in the Ancient Land Special from her pregnancy.

I would say Alex should of been guest or featured on another album, special or holiday special which is why I was saluting Caranua all the way. As Like Susan who has come back to fill in for the girls so had Alex and Lynn for the 10th Anniversary Tour and Lynn for Emerald in 2014. Had the Destiny Special featured Alex and Lynn as Special Guests it would of made more sense than Rebecca, Rebecca knew to play the harp but she never became a Celtic Woman.

That double-soprano harmony backing was insane. I was crying.

Yes Indeed, why it was my vote, while I’m happy for Susan got a solo out of it, the trio one with Mairead C, Megan and Chloe is such a missed opportunity for a recording, such chills! The one with Susan is same but something about Chloe made it better more powerful. I tried then liking the one with Muirgen, it was good but not as Mairead C epic if you know what I mean and they switched up things but I preferred it first time first way how they did it in Celebration!

Catriona the new member really left me speechless..
Can you imagine if they revisited this with Mairead C, Muirgen and Catriona  :o!!!

I love Alex so much!!!!!!!

I’ve been listening to some old Celtic Woman footage from 2008 (from this YouTube channel specifically https://youtube.com/@oldcelticwomanfootageandmore?si=uFer4NGsK7LGzk03), more specifically Alex’s rendition of The Voice and her part in At The Ceili, and she is genuinely incredible!!! She might be one of the best voice’s the group has had.

I like her parts in Songs From The Heart as well (You’ll Be In My Heart is a banger), but the problem with that album is that it’s not very theatrical (from what I’ve seen) and Alex absolutely THRIVES in the theatrical realm. It’s hard to explain, but she sounds like an old Victorian ghost whose lover died at sea (and I mean that positively, I love Victorian ghosts and tragic romances). I think she was also straining a bit to match Lisa Kelly’s voice, and that is intensely electrifying to me.

Anyway, I think Alex leaving so soon is one of the greatest tragedies of Celtic Woman. I did check out her solo work, but none of it had the same theatrical effect and overall wasn’t my style (although Alex still sounded magical). But I haven’t looked that far, and if anyone has some recommendations, I’ll absolutely check them out because she is so incredibly enchanting!!!!!!!!

Oh wow! I mean as an ultimate Alex fan ;D yeah if you tell she’s on my icon image still for nothing, I never thought of her trying to match Lisa Kelly’s voice, I suppose if you listen to her on Caranua on say The Voice to see the difference there.
I think the departure of Alex is indeed a loss and for Celtic Woman, Lynn had stayed on a bit longer but Lynn really got covered what her potential was. In fact Believe was Supremely for Alex, the whole theatre tribute, My Heart Was Home Again was made as Alex’s solo which she got to perform in on her last SFTH tour. Now had she stayed would Lisa L not been brought in is the question because I don’t think they would have stayed four singers, Believe was created as three but who know’s I mean is Alex’s departure the culprit of them testing the three singers is what I’m curious had she stayed and Lynn stayed at least until the next special!

When Alex returned to fill in for Susan, they sang Time to Say Goodbye and would of loved how she sounded but there are no shared recording from that part of the tour anywhere. She use to have a clear Celtic Woman version of The Voice on her website and no more since she had to redo her website. Have you heard her version of Newgrange? She has done theatre work earlier so I’m sure you’ll love what you find!

I think I meant her trying to match Lisa Kelly’s voice in that they have different ranges and it probably was a bit difficult to cover for her. I believe she did say something about how difficult it was to perform The Voice. She also just sounded different on the 2008 tours from how she sounded in SFTH, so I guess I was trying to find a reason there. I didn’t mean that a a slight towards her in any way!

I agree with you that Alex would have been incredible in Believe, especially in what became Lisa Lambe’s part in Téir Abhaile Riú! She would definitely be incredible playing the rebellious romantic teenage lead. (Although Lisa Lambe was also amazing).

I haven’t heard Alex’s rendition of Newgrange, so I’ll have to check it out! And I’ll look for more of her early theatre stuff as well. I know she played Dorothy in The Wizard Of Oz, are there any other good roles of hers you could suggest?

Thank you!  :)

To me the way she sang in 2008 was because she was filling in for Lisa Kelly’s place so she was in a lead and more soprano range to sing. After Orla left, Alex then took the slate in the empty space thus singing alto. This change has happened with many other celtic woman singers including Lisa L, Susan, but most noticeably with Alex and Muirgen. Muirgen’s role changed from Postcards of Ireland to then now since the 20th Anniversary Special most notably by the return of Mairead Carlin. We gotten the chance to see Alex perform back in that soprano tenore when she returned for the 10th Anniversary Tour where she did half in Mairead Carlin’s soprano spot and later in Lynn’s spot which at the time was the more lower end. Most noticable was when she filled in Susan in 2018 during The Homecoming Tour and again sang from a Susan Soprano lead range which was back to the same place Susan/Lisa K role spot!

By the way, Caitríona is extraordinary in this song! She has the same sort of Lisa Lambe effect that made the original so iconic.

That’s very interesting and I agree, on God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen we can’t hear her distinction so you can imagine Lisa Lambe as she did with them on last year’s tour. Other times she sounds like Megan but with a very Eabha style and much very Irish.

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
Silver Bells

These two song’s were once just what if …because if Celtic Woman were to continuing Christmas Albums but very surprised yet not surprised that they would end up taking on this. Now I’m imagining Mairead C doing Blue Christmas in flair  :P

In the Bleak Midwinter / Goin' Home - Medley
Oh  :’( I miss Caranua existence but blessed by their existence one of my favorites hymn songs from their album with Jason Tonioli!!!!! Hearing Lisa Lambe doing this was a dream and brought SFTH Tour memories.

Wexford Carol- Muirgen at the finest YET again!!
Little Drummer Boy - I love Mairead Carlin’s voice on this with Muirgen

If I could only pick three well,
Silent Night, Wexford Carol and Little Drummer Boy for me. :)

I have to go with Song’s From The Heart / Isle of Hope Tour Lineup.
Probably because they were four doing this and the only in four that takes it to another feat!

As for solo I can love Lynn and Deirdre, but Meav is the Queen!

I like how you described the aspect both brought.

Alex’s voice is very unique and more emotive, especially when she sings “Give me your peace and my wounds, they will heal”, and Susan’s musical-theatre style makes it feel like a fantasy film!

Here’s Alex singing The Homecoming/Voices of Angels version!

https://youtu.be/PyMTfEK5riE?si=qFJdAzdx0-tBxYq7
Here’s a chance to hear Meav take on it, originally the song was to be given for her I read.

I had the rare lucky chance to hear Lynn do it and her version was so warm and pure it in heart, there isn’t
any found clip but you can hear her on Caranua’s version.

Her May It Be left me Speechless. She can certainly bring that aura touch Eabha brought to CW!
