I didn't make it to as many shows as usual this year: only 8, compared to 34 last year. I suppose that made me savour each show all the more. I finally got to see Alex close to home, a decade after I missed my previous opportunity. At Éabha's Celtic World Forum, I got to see 9 people that have performed with Celtic Woman, including Gavin Murphy himself. And on the Christmas Symphony tour, I saw 3 performers on their debut tour with Celtic Woman, including the first person I ever met at a stage door (Tara Howley), and Caitriona, who I met in Killarney on the Postcards tour. It was so special to finally see them be part of the group I love.

Christmas Cards from Ireland finally came up in my massive 25-hour Christmas MP3 playlist. I don't think I gave this nearly enough love when it first released. It's really pretty!

It still works for me. Make sure you're logged in to PBS passport and then search for the special. I'm not sure if availability differs by station or if every PBS subscription provides access to the same content on Passport.

If you have a chance, watch The Celtic Tenors new PBS special "Live at the Empire." It was airing recently and is on PBS Passport for those with active PBS memberships.
There are some great harmonies!
You'll see a few familiar faces, including: - John O'Brien on pipes, whistles and guitar. He played whistles for Celtic Woman for a while, including on Destiny. He was also in Riverdance and Celtic Thunder. - Matt Gilsenan (Deirdre Shannon's brother) - George Hutton (He's the new member of The Celtic Tenors. You might recall him from Megan's stories a few years ago or from his recent work with the legend Phil Coulter.) - If you pay close attention during the credits, David Hayes did musical arrangements for the show. He's done plenty of work with Glenn Murphy over the years.

She's definitely one of my favourite Celtic Woman voices. She has a lot of great solo music, although I to tend to like her live performances even more. She has soooo much fun on stage. Her personality is on full display. Those concerts of hers I went to a Cherry Peak in Utah were amazing.
"Alex Sharpe Sings the Music of Shaun Purcell" is probably the most theatrical album of her solo work, with "Dream Some More" being my favourite.
I think if I were going to recommend one of her studio recordings with the highest wow factor, it would be "I Believe" with Brett Pruneau, from the album "Joyful." If you haven't heard it yet, I won't spoil anything aside from telling you to have kleenex close by.

Thanks for the times. It helped because I didn't have time to watch the whole 3 hours tonight. If it's on PBS Passport later I'll probably go through the whole program.
That 20th Anniversary "You Raise Me Up" brought back memories. I'm probably still replenishing my tear ducts from that night at the Helix. It was at this time of year I first tuned in to a full Celtic Woman PBS special and my goodness am I ever thankful for that.

My CD finally arrived today (with a set of Postcards from Ireland postcards as compensation for the late postage)!
If anyone wants a quick breakdown without looking through the liner notes photo, there was split between Tara and Ciara on the album (EDIT: there were some mistakes in the liner notes, which I have rectified below)
Tara: - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - Silent Night - Little Drummer Boy - In the Bleak Midwinter / Goin' Home - Auld Lang Syne - Wexford Carol - Don Oíche Úd I mBeithil
Ciara: - Nollaig na mBan - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas - Codail a Linbh - Silver Bells - The Bells of Dublin / Christmas Eve / Navan In the Snow
It looks like Ewan Cowley was back on guitar for this album.

Now that Tara has been on a Celtic Woman album and we're fairly sure she'll be on this year's Christmas tour, I moved the topic into the section that includes the other band members.
I also updated her discography.
It's official now. Tara Howley is on the 2025 Christmas Symphony tour!

That double-soprano harmony backing was insane. I was crying.
