Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend the Celtic Woman concert at the River Cree Casino in Enoch, Alberta, which is actually part of the Edmonton metropolitan area. I also had the chance to attend the meet and greet experience.

The meet and greet is worth it—but not entirely. I understand now that each venue has its own policies for managing the meet and greet, and might not be it’s no longer a general policy set by Celtic Woman. At this particular venue, there was a limited number of passes—I counted about 20 people.

The instructions were very clear: you go in, take your photo, and leave. You’re not allowed to use your phone, take pictures or videos, and the performers cannot sign any autographs. It’s strictly for a quick professional photo, a very brief greeting, and then you move along.

I was honestly a bit disappointed, because the girls seemed genuinely excited to interact with fans. However, everything was so rushed that it really felt like just a quick photo and out the door. This all took place about few minutes before the concert started.

Now, focusing on the venue itself—the River Cree Casino has a flat seating layout, meaning there’s no elevation between rows. This makes it a bit difficult for people seated further back to see clearly. On the positive side, the venue does have screens that were broadcasting the concert live, which definitely helped. Also, despite being a very large auditorium, the venue was 70% full. Compared to previous venues where they have performed, this could definitely be considered an excellent turnout.

The setlist was the same as usual, with one exception: for the Canadian tour, Mairéad Carlin is the song “River” by Joni Mitchell instead of "The Prayer".

One thing I really enjoyed was how enthusiastic the audience was. There were standing ovations, especially during “Amazing Grace” and at the end of the show.

Another noticeable aspect of this performance was a slight change in the stage setup. There was a central screen displaying the Celtic Woman logo, instead of the curtains typically used in their standard tour setup. This might be due to the specific layout of the casino auditorium.

In short, it was absolutely a show worth attending. This will be my only show on this tour, and I feel fortunate that it took place in the city where I live.

Thanks for reading!
