So now, each member to have appeared on an album has had at least two solos (I thought Alex only had one but apparently she had more on the DVD, so I’ll trust the more experienced on this one and count her ;))
So what are your favourite solos by each of them? Here’s mine:
Órla: Isle Of Innisfree (this song unlocks emotions I never knew I had)
Méav: Danny Boy (although I think Sí Do Mhaimeó Í shows off her voice best, Danny Boy never fails to make me cry. Méav is absolutely perfect, and her haunting, soulful voice makes this rendition absolutely heartbreaking.)
Lisa K: The Voice (she is just a purely a goddess in this song!)
Chloë: Galway Bay (it’s a rather sweet song, and one of Chloë’s more Celtic-style solos, which I generally prefer to the more pop/classical side, although Vivaldi’s Rain is an absolute banger.)
Máiréad N: Shenandoah/The Contradiction (a perfect combination of Máiréad’s emotional and energetic powers!)
Hayley: Lascia Ch’io Pianga (I know what I said about generally preferring more Celtic-style songs, but Hayley is absolutely magnificent in this and it’s a rather haunting song anyway.)
Lynn: My Lagan Love (a very sweet love song that shows off her voice wonderfully.)
Alex: The Voice (Live 2008) (I just love this song so much and Alex singing it gives me chills every time!)
Lisa L: Black Is The Colour (I like all of Lisa L’s solos well enough, and this is very catchy…I also once saw someone say that Lynn was singing Carolina Rua about Lisa L and Lisa L sang Black Is The Colour about Lynn and I thought that was clever…Lisa L’s rendition of Dúlamán is a close second, though, because I think it shows off her voice best off all of her solos.)
Susan: Caledonia (2013 Version) or The Voice (2013 Version ) (I don’t want to put the same track over and over but I love this song so much 😭) also My Land because that’s basically a solo for her with Éabha and Mairéad’s backing vocals towards the end
Mairéad C: County Down (her most underrated solo)
Éabha: Moorlough Shore (I love this song so much, Éabha’s voice is wonderful and the piano refrain is immaculate! I love sad love songs if you couldn’t tell.)
Tara: For The Love Of A Princess (I also love Ancient Land…I know that Mairéad C, Megan, and Éabha are also on there but I really view it as more of a Tara song with a small choral part)
Megan: The Lakes Of Pontchartrain (again, tragic romance, the sorrow of longing for what could never be…also her voice is great in this one)
Muirgen: A Stór Mo Chroí (sheer majesty…Muirgen gives me chills every time)
Emma: Spancil Hill (this song needs more love…Emma’s voice in this is magical and it’s a timeless song)

These change from time to time, but here are my current favourite solos from the Celtic Woman albums:
Alex: You'll Be In My Heart (Songs from the Heart)
Chloë: Nella Fantasia (Celtic Woman)
Éabha: Garden of Eden (Ancient Land) ... she has other fantastic songs that show off her voice, like How Can I Keep from Singing, but she wrote Garden of Eden herself and it's super-fun to listen to, so it's my pick.
Emma: Rainbow (20th Anniversary)
Hayley: Scarborough Fair (A New Journey)
Lisa Kelly: Follow On (Believe)
Lisa Lambe: Bridge Over Troubled Water (Emerald)
Lynn: Carolina Rua (Songs from the Heart)
Mairéad Carlin: County Down (Ancient Land)
Máiréad Nesbitt: Granuaile's Dance (A New Journey)
Méav: Silent Night (Home for Christmas) ... the Christmas Celebration version is great too, but that last note on the Home for Christmas version is divine)
Megan: Faith's Song (Ancient Land)
Muirgen: A Stór Mo Chroí (20th Anniversary)
Orla: Isle Of Innisfree (Celtic Woman)
Susan: It Came Upon A Midnight Clear (Home for Christmas DVD / O Christmas Tree EP)
Tara: Tara's Tunes (Ancient Land). Tough one between that and For the Love of a Princess.

Muirgen: A Stór Mo Chroí

@AeFondAshley
Nice list of favs. Most interesting is Dia Do Bheatha from Muirgen. I don't remember it unfortunately. Is it posted online somewhere?
Also, introduce yourself in the New Members sub-forum if you like. Welcome!

Unfortunately I don’t think there’s been a recording of it uploaded. I took a full video of it on the tour but haven’t figured out a way to post it onto YouTube or anything. I really hope they cover that version again at some point on an album!

So what are your favourite solos by each of them? Here’s mine:
Alex’s second solo on a CD/DVD is True Colours
Originally I’d assume My Heart Was Home Again would been her solo if she had stayed on for Believe.
If we are choosing by songs from an album or DVD or release then great, I would make another list from including tour performances for example Lynn’s version of The Voice and Danny Boy is out of this world! ;)

Indeed…
Sometimes it’s wonderful to just sit down and listen to a slow piece and let the music move you…there’s a special sort of magic in it…and a violin can move you in ways no other instrument could…I also love Máiréad N’s Mná Na hÉireann and Shenandoah/The Contradiction for this reason…
There are other Celtic Woman songs that have that magic as well, like Harry’s Game or The New Ground/Isle Of Hope, Isle Of Tears…arguably, all Órla solos have that effect…there’s something so beautiful about her quiet grace, very angelic and haunting…

Only gonna go with songs from the albums/dvd's....
Mairead N: Granuaile's Dance - ANJ (no competition, love this song whenever she performs it)
Orla: Isle Of Innisfree (the orchestration backing for this song and her voice and the beautiful harp... stunning)
Meav: I Dreamt I Dwelt In Marble Halls (her voice just soars on this song and sounds truly angelic)
Lisa K: The Voice (her voice on this song is and will always be the best)

Hayley: Scarborough Fair (the clarity and power she exhibits on this song is incredible)
Lynn: Suantrai (she just stuns on this song)
Alex: You'll Be In My Heart (I loved watching her expressions when she performed this song)
Lisa L: Dulaman (her version is what brought me back to loving this song again b/c I was starting to think it was overdone)
Susan: Sometimes A Prayer Will Do (this song was the first CW song I heard after my Grandma died so it's very special to me)
Mairead C: Ae Fond Kiss (imo, one of the most beautiful love songs ever)
Eabha: Walk Beside Me (I LOVED this song when I first heard it and thought she sang it perfectly, it was also beautiful seeing the other girls come out and join her at the end for her first show w/ Celtic Woman)
Tara: For The Love Of A Princess (Tara really played her heart out on this song, just breathtaking)
Megan: Shenandoah (I loved her beautiful soaring voice on this song)
Muirgen: Down By The Sally Gardens (this song has long been a favorite of mine, hearing her sing this was phenomenal)

Interesting choices! I agree with what you said about Megan and Shenandoah…although The Lakes Of Pontchartrain is my favourite solo of hers, that song definitely shows off her voice the best. I like seeing people add reasons to theirs as well. I’ll have to go back and add some more reasons to mine.

I find Bonny Portmore shows off her great Operatic range and ability!akes Of Pontchartrain is such a Megan song it’s vibe fits who she is to me.
