Title: Guessing 2026 will be off too??
Post by: CWFella2011 on August 16, 2025, 09:50:42 PM
We are at the time of year where the ladies are often in the studio and about to tape a new special. As we all know they have not recorded since 20.  Given that nothing has been posted on socials about being in the studio (sometimes a stack of sheet music or maybe one or two of the girls posing for the camera) do we think that we will be headed for two years of no Celtic Woman spring tour??? They can't do it without putting something out (which they always do).
If that's true this will be the longest gap between any two albums/specials. It used to be every year or other year with releasing something.
Do we think they're slowing down (years off become more common) or about to go down a similar route to Celtic Thunder who post 2013 has gone to every few years doing something "completely new" (2013 Mythology album and DVD/tour/Christmas Voices album---2014 Christmas Voices album renamed Christmas Symphony and supported with tour--2015 Very Best of album and tour--2016 Legacy album + special had no new songs and was a live recording of a 2015 north American tour stop + another tour in support of it---2017 Inspirational album + second christmas symphony tour--2018 10th anniversary; album, special and supporting tour--2019 year off--2020 Ireland compilation special + tour thwarted by COVID--2021 continued thwarting of tour by COVID--2022 thwarted tour proceeds but many canceled shows--2023-24 Odyssey tour for two years + PBS special aired in 2024 + new live album--2025 Greatest Hits album and new tour).

You could be right. I'm very curious as to who is even touring on the 2025 Christmas tour. I've been surfing the internet unsuccessfully for any clues.

It is kind of a bummer to wait so long for new material. But if given the choice, I'd prefer waiting for the current members to be ready to record & tour (i.e. Emma = baby, Tara = baby, MC = solo album), vs replacing them even temporarily.

I've been thinking the same.

There's only a month or so left in the window to record a special that would air next spring. Given recent developments affecting PBS, the chances of a new special this year are very low.

It isn't too unusual for there to be no tour announcement by now, but there hasn't been a single CW show for 2026 posted by any venue yet. I don't want want to completely write off a 2026 spring tour yet, but if there's nothing by the end of September, there's basically no chance of a spring tour in 2026.

I think the Christmas tour is going to tell us something about the future.  It will depend on who is on the Christmas tour.  Will the girls want to tour for the typical 4 or 5 months?  I know Lisa Kelly toured with her kids, but not when they were infants.  As much as I hate to say it, are we seeing the end of CW?

Yeah. Some dates “leak” some times in early summer but then don’t go on sale until mid fall.
If there WERE to be new CW music released mid-late fall/in January at this point it feels like we would get an album but no special.

It's seemed like overtime that if they record/film anything during the summer that seems to "set up" who will do any later in the year touring/whatever happens after the new year.
It really seems like whenever they post they are recording something that's our first taste of the lineup for the next year or so.

It is not on Celtic Woman.com.
How interesting. No tour name either.
We know a Christmas album is coming but no thing non holiday that we know of.

If this really means a tour is coming in 2026, we should see other venues listing tickets.

Here's my question:
- Let's assume they tour Spring 2026, when would they have to announce a new album? When do they typically announce new albums for the following Spring?

I found another concert. This one in April 2026 in Canada.

There's also one March 12, 2026 @ Stamford, CT. But I didn't post it because it's not on the venue website (i.e. not official).

I'm not sure if these will happen. As we've seen them cancel tours before. But in the best case, they are secretly working on a new album. They are good at keeping secrets.  ;)

Putting together a tour is a big undertaking.  You have to find venues with open dates that fit within a time range.  Then, you have to figure out travel times between the venues.  Then, you have to find hotels.  Some locations are easier than others.  For example, I live in Tampa, FL.  Over the years, I have seen CW at 4 different venues within about a 45 minute drive of my house.  So, they will probably reach out to all 4 venues asking for availability for (and this is made up), the second week in March.  Then, where else do they want to go in Florida?  Maybe a 4 hour drive to, say Fort Lauderdale.  OK, what dates to they have?

As involved as all this is, my bet today is no Spring Tour.  And, with all the issues going on with PBS, I'm wondering if CW's days are numbered?

Being an entertainer has always been a tough way to make a living.  COVID made it worse.

That’s interesting…

It looks more like a concept to me…especially since that art looks more like a placeholder, given that it’s a bluewashed version of the 2025 White Christmas Symphony Tour promo. The article seems fairly vague as well. I wonder if it’s currently in development…

March isn’t all that far away, and it does seem like a short time to make an entirely new album, but Celtic Woman has made albums quickly before. And although I don’t know much about Brian Byrne, he seems to be ambitious…hopefully he can develop the band further (and develop their mixing skills!).

Unless it's possible that there was some recording shortly after the completion of Nollaig???

The latest concert listed has an updated write-up, possibly directly from CW. This seems more real now. I don't particularly like the title "New Era", mainly because it sounds like Ciara is taking over for Tara permanently. IDK.

It’s interesting what you say about “A New Era”. It makes me think that they’re going to make some sort of drastic change to their sound, which does scare me a bit.

I suppose they did mention that Ciara will be performing alongside them, so maybe she will end up being a permanent replacement for Tara… :-[

But there is the BIIRD April-May spring tour…unless Ciara leaves BIIRD, she’ll probably leave CW for that…maybe Tara will come in mid-tour? It’s happened before, like when Alex replaced Susan in the middle of the Homecoming tour.

Also, them mentioning “new arrangements” seems like they’ll be revamping old songs…I wonder which ones! It would be lovely to hear new versions of “The Voice” or “Siúil A Rún”.
