Title: I think this would be nice
Post by: GlenS on October 05, 2023, 06:06:48 PM
If you buy tickets to a show thats listed on the Calendar I think it would be great if you came back here and posted Im going X2  or X3 as number of people on the calendar post. This way if your a member of the Forum you can see if there are any other members going and for you to meet and meet up with before or after the show. Lets all give it a try ok

Thanks
Glen

So my plan is to go to the show in St Petersburg, FL on March 2.  However, tickets are not available yet from either the venue or PBS.  Does "I hope to go count"?

The St. Petersburg show is on sale on Ticketmaster. Gregg & I have tickets for that show.

I like this idea as well and I will come in here after work today and note which shows we're going to!

I'm still thinking about it, but we may way want to be careful about posting things within the calendar events themselves.

I think we decided a while back, maybe to draw people to the forum that find the calendar entries through Google, that the posts associated with each calendar event would be visible to the public. The calendar tab isn't public, but the posts in the calendar board are.

While I think it's generally of little concern if the general public knows if you're going to a show or not (given that Facebook already offers this functionality on their events), there have been some stalker-type situations in the past.

See internal thread for a previous discussion regarding this:

It would get messy if we have separate threads to keep track of who's going to what though.

So one option would be to make the calendar posts only visible to members again, although I can't remember all the reasons we made it public.

Or if people are comfortable posting in an event that's visible to non-members, that's their choice and we can leave the calendar public like it currently is.

I can make the calendar board private no problem it would make people join the Forum to see the early listings we find is all
ans I don't think by doing that the month calendar will stay public
