The Calendar on the forum has two parts to it:
1. Calendar events
Those appear in the graphical Calendar that can be accessed with the Calendar button under the forum banner).
You edit the events by clicking on the little icon to the left of the event title in the graphical calendar.
The text in the Event Title field is what appears in the graphical version of the calendar.
There calendar entries are presented in a very compact space, so we've decided the topic titles should contain only the most important information (the performer, the tour name if applicable, and the city).
The event titles shouldn't include the date, since the date is represented by other properties in the calendar entry.
Additional details can be entered in calendar board entries (see below).
2. Calendar board entries
You get to those by pressing on the event in the graphical calendar or by viewing the topics in the Calendar board from the main board page.
The events themselves don't have a field where you can enter details, but the calendar entries are linked to topics in the Calendar board by default. When you create a calendar entry, the forum is configured to automatically create a topic in the Calendar board for you. You can enter details about the event in those topics.
The Subject field is what appears in the topic of the Calendar board. The Event Title and topic Subject don't have to be identical. The topics in the Calendar board don't show the dates, so we've decided on a format for putting the date in the Calendar board subjects.
The format we've chosen is a numerical representation of the date at the very beginning of the Subject field. We're going to use format YYYY-MM-DD since that will allow someone to (in theory) sort the calendar events in that board by event date (you can see the events in chronological order, regardless of when the topic was created or last modified). To sort them that way, press on the Subject heading in the Calendar board.
Here's an example of how to format the event topic and subject of a calendar event for a concert on September 15, 2019 in Dublin, Ireland (this is a hypothetical event, so don't get too excited):
Event Topic (these need to be kept short):
CW: Grand Reunion (Dublin)
Subject:
2019-09-15 - Celtic Woman: Grand Reunion Tour (Dublin, Ireland)
The Subject should probably include the performer (ie. Chloƫ, Mairead N, Celtic Woman) and the tour name if applicable, but there's lots of flexibility for how that can be done. The most important thing is to have a properly formatted date in YYYY-MM-DD format at the very start of the Subject so it will sort properly.
Please let us know if there are any questions.
