General Discussion / Weather

everyone please stay safe and warm in this upcoming cold snap with Raw temps hitting -30 or greater and wind chills of -50f. Was reading a story on facebook from a heating contractor telling people to turn the heat up in there homes 2 to 4 degree's because the heating systems are not built for these extreme colds they are built for 0 degrees so he was saying that new homes will loose temps just because the heating system isn't built for this bitter cold.

Stay safe and warm

Auctions and Fund raisers / Fund raiser 2019
« on: January 20, 2019, 11:43:31 PM »
Hey all it's time for a fund raiser for the Forum. This Forum alone costs $326.00 per year to run and now with me being retired and living on a fixed income things get a little tight at times and most of this cost comes during the winter time which for me is the worst time of all. Im offering once again a drawing for a signed photo of either Mairead Sue Eabha or Tara. So anyone donating over $20.00 will be put into a drawing for a 8x10 signed photo and a few Forum buttons Plus I will offer a 4x5 signed photo of either Mairead or sue as a prize and this would be for anyone donating any amount. Thanks to everyone for there help in keeping this Forum up and running and such a nice place to come

This fund raiser ends April 1st 2019

Thought I would add this little bit of info that $326.00 doesn't include the buttons I make nor the photos and cd's I give away. The button make alone cost me $500.00 not counting the buttons themselves and the photo paper and inks to print them. Each 8x10 photo costs me about $4.00 but now I found some photo paper for my Kodak printer that's the same stuff they use now at Walmart photo lab and is really great paper once printed and dry you can clean them with anything and not hurt the picture I have tried it so there are a lot more things that go into running this forum. Even shipping costs are nuts any more to send anything to Tom in Canada it cost 16.00 and in the states it costs around $7.00 for 4 buttons

I will make custom buttons for other people and or clubs if any one wants them I charge 30 cents each

Thank You

Please see the post Admins info for donations  for info on how to make a donation
This ends March 31

General Discussion / Make a Wish
« on: January 15, 2019, 07:52:06 PM »
I thought I would post this story it is with my Daughter and her son so my grandson and along with his sister. Bryan my grandson fought for a year with Bone cancer and he won he is now cancer free after 2 operation and 26 weeks of chemo he was put in for a Make a Wish by children's hospital he was granted his wish which was to go on a Disney cruise so he and his mom and sister left Last Wednesday in a limo to go to the airport and they flew to Florida had to spend the night in a hotel and boarded the Disney Magic cruise liner Thursday at Noon and the ship left the port of Miami at about 4:30 and sailed to Key west where they spent the day in port The ship left port at about 5:00 and sailed to Nassau were they spent the day in port. They went to see a few spots there and had to be back on ship by 4:00 and left port around 4:30 then it was on to Disney's own island Castaway Cay they spent the day playing on the island. At lunch time the ship had a cook out on the island for all. They had to be back on ship by 4:00 to meet up with the Make a Wish coordinator on the ship plus they got to Meet the other 2 Make a Wish family's on board also. Plus the Make a Wish kids were given a about 18 inch tall stuffed Mickey doll plus they got to meet Mickey. Then the ship left port about 5:30 and the next day is called A day at sea no port and it was also called Marvel day were all the Marvel super hero's were onboard and wandering the ship for the kids to Meet and take part in all the ship had to offer. Wednesday is the end of the cruise and they depart the ship at like 9:00 and then have to wait till 3:00 PM to fly out of Miami  they should get home about 10:00 PM tomorrow night. They will be home just in time for the cold weather to hit that will be a shock for them going from 80 degrees to 10. From what I have heard they have just had a blast they get alittle better treatment then the rest as they wear a Lanyard and it has there Make a Wish ID and a button 1 my grandson has say im a make a wish kid his sister has the same other then her button says im part of a make a wish family and moms button says I am a Make a Wish family. Because of the button they have gotten things Free while at port like the museum was free because the lady said we could be their guest because of make a wish and they have gotten other things in port and on ship Here are a few photos of there trip

Tonight, at The Atlanta Symphony Hall, with The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, I will walk on stage for my 1081st show as part of the immense Celtic Woman ensemble.
It is with great sadness, happiness, pride and excitement that I tell you all that this will be my final performance, for now, with a show that has taken me and my pipes through 6 continents over 9 years.
I have been lucky enough to share the stage with some of the most talented musicians and singers in the world, under the direction of the great David Downes and Gavin Murphy.
I met my wife in Celtic Woman. I’ve made best friends in Celtic Woman. I’ve played some of the greatest venues in the world because I was in the Celtic Woman band.
For all of this and much more, I will be forever grateful.
But for now, I’m going home to be with my wife Susan McFadden and our beautiful daughter Joanie Byrne.
Thank you to the millions of people who have come to see Celtic Woman perform and for all your kind words over the years. I hope you’ve enjoyed yourselves.
Thanks to all the cast and crew who have ever been a part of Celtic Woman. The craic was ninety.
A massive thanks to Kenny and everyone at McCallum Bagpipes Ltd for their continued support and also Kyle Campbell from Campbell Bagpipes
 Thanks Dave.
 Thanks Scott, Maggie and Shane.
 Merry Christmas to everyone.
