Well, I'm lucky. I got to see 3 shows this year. Had a ticket for April 1 in Morgantown WV but, of course that's now canceled. Was doing that show in connection with something else so I'm not going to worry about rescheduling. Website says I can call and get my money back. My biggest disappointment is it was a front row seat

ST PETE, FL

So ended up going with 4 other people to the show.  No M&G, but it's almost not worth it anymore.  I thought I was going to get "yelled at" in Fort Myers because I actually said 4 or 5 words to each girl, and got a hug from Chloe.

Anyway, my daughter and I were in the 4th row.  She was on the end.  Chloe saw us and pointed at us and waved.  The couple in the row in front of us asked at intermission about it.  Showed them a couple of pictures of us and Chloe over the years.

This was my 3rd show this year.  Chloe brings a whole new level of energy to the show!

Celebration's on Tour / Re: Celebration tour setlist (SPOILERS)
« on: February 28, 2020, 10:30:53 PM »
After being at the first two shows --

I like the idea of Ballroom of Romance instead of TAR.
I like the old version of MGM more (ya know, the one with the big drums)
All I can say about Mairead and Nella Fanasia is WOW.
When You Believe was always a favorite of mine.  Nice to see it back,
I agree with Mattycakes about Dulaman.
I'm not a fan of May It Be.

My biggest pet peeve is they never do the second verse to YRMU.  Chloe did it in her show a week or so ago.  CW has done it once or twice at Red Rocks, where it is incredibly powerful.

Celebration: The 15th Anniversary Tour / Morgantown WV -- April 1
« on: January 28, 2020, 08:21:24 AM »
I was planning on going to see Chloe at Tybee Island (Savannah, GA) on March 28.  So, since I'm on the road, what else can I do?  MA is kind of a long drive, but what about Morgantown WV?  So no M&G (that I could find) but what do you know!  A front row, mostly center seat is available!!

So, Chloe on Saturday, then drive to Asheville NC to go thru the Biltmore with the Downton Abbey exhibit, then on to Morgantown!.

That will be CW show #4 this year, plus 2 Chloe individual shows!

I have real mixed feelings about this.  I have greatly enjoyed Chloe's individual shows over the last couple of years.  Luckily, she tends to do multiple shows in the Southern US, so I can drive to them.  It's been a joy and privilege to go to her shows and to continue meeting with her.  Her connection with her fans is one of the main reasons I fell in love with CW along time ago.

Since she is now part of the group again, I tend to believe we won't get that personnel touch.  The M&G are not worth it (at least to me).  No time to say anything.  No autographs.  Plus, it seems like a lot of PBS stations are NOT offering M&Gs anymore.  Even if they do, their seats aren't great.  When they used to do songs like TAR out in the audience, if you knew where to sit, you at least got a wave.  I'll always remember Lisa Lambe sitting next to me!

Will I still support CW and Chloe?  Absolutely, even though they make it difficult.  I've already got tickets for 2 Chloe shows and 3 CW shows.  I'd do a couple more CW shows, but the 4 or 5 I'd consider do not apparently have M&G packages (or at least the local PBS station doesn't even list it).

Celtic Woman / Re: 2019 Highlights
« on: January 01, 2020, 10:39:20 AM »
I feel your pain about traveling.  Over the years, I've done some crazy things to make it to shows.  Florida to El Paso, TX (fly); drive to Albequerque.  Drive to Denver.  Fly to Florida.  Then there was the drive from Florida to Ohio (2 shows), then to West Virginia, then back to Florida.  The snowstorm in New England, going from Manchester, NH to Scranton, PA.  A flight to NYC getting canceled due to weather (at least it was the day before the show!), then making it to NYC the next day with lots of snow on the ground (OK, Central Park was really nice in the snow!).

I think I've been to 37 different venues over 12 years.  Luckily for me, there are usually 5 or 6 shows in Florida that I can drive to, depending on ticket availability.  If you have to fly somewhere, I always figure that it's a full day of travel.  If, for example, I go to Atlanta, it's a 7 hour drive.  Flying is only 90 minutes, but then you have to get to the airport early, plus renting a car on the other end, plus driving to wherever.  At some point, I'd rather drive.

General Discussion / Re: This is the only forum left

One of the things I noticed over the years was that there were too many forums.  You had forums focused primarily on one performer, but something like CWF had a subsection for each performer.  You couldn't keep up with all of them.   Then, along came Facebook and we are seeing multiple groups focusing on one specific performer.  Again, at least in my view, there are just too many to keep up with.

Chloe Agnew / Bluffton SC December 9
« on: December 11, 2019, 06:49:28 AM »
I ended up making a quick trip (6 hour drive) to Bluffton Monday night to see Chloe's show. It was scheduled back in October, but got postponed.

Show was at a fairly small venue called The Roasting Room.  Maybe 60 people, but it was a sell-out.  There was a M&G so I got another photo to add to my collection, plus she signed one of her new CDs for a Christmas gift.

Chloe was her usual charming self, which is one of the main reasons I will still travel to see her.

The show was a mix of her normal songs (think her new CD) and a few Christmas songs.  She did Silent Night in Irish!!  One other highlight was Merry Christmas Darling.  If you close your eyes, you can hear a little bit of Karen Carpenter.  Great song.

Because (apparently) of school, the show didn't start until 8:00.  Not knowing where I was going, I got there too early.  The venue is on the second floor of a building.  There's an outside stair and a balcony.  I got to hear a bit of the sound check from there.  I got a "hi" from Chloe as she was leaving.  No intermission.  They do roll up the sidewalks in Bluffton at about 6.

No Dermot.  A piano player and a fiddle player.

Chloe Agnew / Re: Reimagined

If my memory doesn't fail me, I think it was 3 years ago at Red Rocks where CW did this as an "acoustic" encore.  I think it's the only time in a lot of shows where they did something that was somewhat unexpected.

So I had tickets for the show Saturday night.  No M&G was done.  I also had tickets (w/M&G) for the Bluffton, SC show a week or so ago that got postponed.  Anyway, had hoped to run into Dermot in the lobby (he usually handles the merch table).  Nope -- some other lady from the venue was there.

Interesting that the program listed a 3 piece band with Chloe.  Keyboard, guitar, and fiddle.  No Dermot.  At the end of the show Chloe made a comment that lead me to believe Dermot was either sick/missed a flight.  She said she first met the keyboardist on Thursday (which was her show in Marco Island).  She said she met the other two guys "this" (Saturday) morning.  A few issues, but nothing that most people even noticed.

Chloe made a few changes to her show, like she usually does.  For example, she added Close to You by the Carpenters (god, I'm showing my age!).  Her encore was When Irish Eyes are Smiling.   And yes, she did Rattlin' Bog, plus her story about meeting someone at her songwriting class.  She did 2 of her own songs.

As usual, great show.  My biggest objection was the first row of seat (where I was) was a long way away from the stage.   Think of an orchestra pit being down (although there wasn't one).   Having said that, yes Chloe did acknowledge me.  This was, I think, my 8th Chloe show plus who knows how many CW /Lisa Kelly / M&G.

Lakeland is within the Tampa PBS sphere (WEDU).  In the past, they have offered M&G's at Lakeland, Tampa, St Petersburg and Sarasota.  I've talked to them -- they said nothing will be announced until their pledge drive in December.  They don't know where their seats are -- it's up to the venue.

I miss the old days when a M&G got you front row.

Since my local PBS station had no idea what was going on,I went ahead and bought a ticket for Lakeland (pit seats are always good!).   I already have several people joining me a couple days later in St. Pete.

On a somewhat unrelated note, do the girls get frequently "bus" miles?  At least here in Florida they seem to criss cross the state a couple times!!!

If you go back a couple years, Tommy Martin played the bagpipe with Anthony on certain songs.  Amazing Grace, for one.

Chloe Agnew / Chloe & Lisa
« on: September 23, 2019, 09:49:44 AM »
So there was a thread from a while ago talking about your favorite Chloe photo.  This doesn't quite fit, because it's a Chloe AND Lisa photo.  I took the photo back in2011 on the Songs From the Heart Tour.  I think was the Orlando show.

Anyway, I went to the M&G at Lisa's concert this year and got both of them to sign it.
