Paul Byrom: This Is the Moment (DVD)

Paul Byrom's DVD "This is the Moment" (also a PBS special) was released in 2013. It was recorded at The State Theatre in Easton, PA.

Paul performed most of the tracks solo (with orchestra and band backing), although Damian McGinty joins Paul for two of the tracks and Janine DiVita also performed in a few tracks.

The DVD starts off with a bang. The arrangement and performance of Ireland was excellent! Pretty much all the tracks are great. My Land was my favourite though: it was epic and definitely one of the best versions I've ever heard. The title track This Is the Moment is also spectacular.

As far as slow songs, he has a lot of good ones, but my favourite was Nella Fantasia. He did a fantastic job and it’s one my my three favourite versions of the track. 10/10

There's a good mix of energy and mood throughout. He puts a feeling into his delivery and he a great voice. It's quite entertaining and Paul even does an sort of hilarious stand-up comedy routine to intro some of the songs.

Phil Coulter was the musical director / conductor.

There some Christmas bonus tracks. Those are all good as well, but I particularly enjoyed his Silent Night duet with Janine Divita.

This is a good DVD! It actually managed to exceed my expectations. If you're into the Celtic Thunder group shows/DVDs, consider this one too!
