If you can edit out "maestro" maybe?
Cleaned up a little. (There is better software for selecting areas).

I think that some of the later shows may still be performed. If the containment plans help to reduce the spread and there is a natural reduction of cases into the warmer months, some of May and June might be OK.

Lets hope this is the case and some of the fans get to see the ladies this year.

Hanover Theater (Worcester) does offer a full credit card refund . The e-mail didn't say so but the site did.

:( Sad to be the bearer of possible bad news, but-

4 weeks or so ago, I arranged a trip to Boston & Philadelphia to look at miniature books at a bookstore in Boston and to hear (and tour) the mighty organ in Macy's, Philadelphia. 3 flights - Buffalo-Boston, Boston-Philly and Philly to Buffalo. 2 hotels, 2 car rentals and two CW concerts Worcester & Philly. Virtually all the tour with non-refundable prices, although from what I am hearing even if I had insurance, it wouldn't cover the cancellations!

How things have changed in 4 weeks! Anyway after talking to my Doc and local health department, both advise me not to go! Unfortunately, I am in the 15% bracket (over the 80%) and the odds go up significantly of severe problems or worse. Had I been under 50 say, I would probably have made the trip (taking all precautions). Had there been a test to see if you had already had COVID-19 (and developed antibodies - I had relatively mild symptoms after being in and around Wuhan last October 20th) I might have made the trip, but there isn't one yet. So the trip is cancelled.

I don't know if concerts will be cancelled but I suspect so. If States put limits on the number of people who can be together at one time (as I believe has just happened), that may force cancellations.

Anyway stay safe out there and wash wash wash.

My take would be that they are recording a soundtrack for the tour. Rehearsals must be well in progress and most groups would have a tour soundtrack should anything disastrous happen during a live concert.

Tour begins in just over two Weeks!!!!

I saw him this September in Buffalo. In fact I had to leave the Ancient Land recording in Ireland on the Friday so that I could get back to Buffalo in time for the Saturday performance (I had bought the Elton John VIP package before getting the CW invite to Johnstown).

I've put a few picture of the concert out on my drive. Fabulous evening and like Phil Collins (I saw in October) they both sound very much the same as they did 40 years ago! The songs have so much OOmph and GO, the folks in the 1st 5 rows just wouldn't sit down - never had to stand up for most of a concert before!

I wanted to close the loop as it were, as I had seen him at Earls Court in London 40 or so years ago.

Ancient Land / Re: Celtic Woman: Ancient Land DVD (PBS Release): Write-up
« on: December 16, 2018, 02:23:07 PM »
Check out the pre concert photos I took on day 1 (posted in September). Some behind the scenes and lots of the rest of Johnstown Castle grounds.

I left out the ones of us being interviewed by the guy who said he was doing the "behind the scenes" portion for the DVD. So hopefully it will be on a future release - probably Blu-ray.

Ancient Land / Re: Ancient Land PBS Special: Review and Thoughts

Good write up Tom, I also watched the WNED Buffalo presentation last night. I think I got one overhead passing camera shot (from the rear) early on in the show but that was it! Not surprising as I wasn't there for the second night and as you point out it was almost all night 2 filming that was used.

I was thrilled watching the show and it brought back wonderful memories of being there and being part of the historic occasion.

If you don't want to hear my thoughts on the SOUND before seeing the recording LEAVE NOW.

That being said, I was very disappointed with the sound. It was too "canned", didn't sound like a soundtrack from a live show (I think it was all synced to the studio recordings). The crowd reactions were "live" as were spontaneous clapping etc. from the audience and were blended in well, but overall I just didn't feel the music as much as I did at the concert itself. The ladies did a wonderful job and their voices were excellent as you say, and there were a few times, especially for Megan, when I did feel the strength of her voice as though it were live.

I'm sure the tour arrangements will be superb and I am looking forward to experiencing the "live" atmosphere at the shows this year.

Celtic Woman / Re: How many shows / meet and greets have you been to?
« on: September 19, 2018, 08:19:33 AM »
I have no idea how many shows I've been to or who I saw at each of them. I know I've seen most of the current and past members and met a lot of them at over 15 or so M&Gs, coffee shops or other places.

I know I was in two minds of going to a show in Cincinatti on Sunday several years ago as it was a 7-8 hour drive and I had no other shows or anything else to do. I had a reasonable seat on the aisle stage right (row C I think), but I had already seen the show several times that year - it seemed a long way to go for another viewing.

Anyway I went.

Remember when they used to come down into the audience and dance or sit on somebody's lap, well it happened to be my turn. Susan kindly spent some time on my lap. I guess that was when she decided she liked Antony better than me!

It actually nearly happened another time but Susan was absolutely stunned when someone from my row actually walked out right past her as she was standing there singing. She just corpsed.

So one more category to add to your statistics - number of times sat on!

David you even made it on one of my photos - the PBS lady being interviewed, not a very good picture due to bad lighting.

Check out the link in Behind the scenes.

(We met briefly in the after ticket line waiting to get seats!)

Funny thing about the Drone Tracie, the one that was going to be used (1st drone pic in my pics) had test flights on Wednesday/Thursday but unfortunately crashed. After trying to fix it Thursday PM, they gave up and got Drone #2. So it will be great to see those images on the DVD somewhere (I think it was camera only but I'm not sue on that)

Ancient Land / Behind the scenes

I have to agree with all the posters so far, it was absolutely awesome. Not just the show but the castle, grounds, people one met, overall experience ... just lost for words.

Without wanting to preempt the behind the scenes segment on the new DVD (many fans were interviewed for their thoughts - I won't be included as I was wearing a jacket with too many logos!), I have posted a few unedited pictures of the castle, grounds show setup etc. from the first night (couldn't stay for the second night) -see link to Drive below.

While walking the grounds Thursday afternoon who should appear but the ladies themselves for a photo shoot. So WARNING, one of the photos is of the ladies in their first costumes (it would seem that costumes and descriptions have already emerged in photos and videos so don't look at the pics if you want to remain "in the dark" until PBS showings!

Megan was fabulous. Despite my fears of her voice being too operatic, she didn't use full operatic mode at the recording at all. She was obviously very nervous about her first appearance and filming and it was so lovely to see Éabha and Mairéad holding her hands and complimenting and encouraging her as they walked off stage - probably won't see that on the DVD.

Can't wait for November now and the Xmas tour.

General Discussion / Re: Wexford Fan Gathering
« on: August 29, 2018, 09:37:02 AM »
I am staying at the Whitford House Hotel ((12th-14th) outskirt of Wexford) which according to Google is around 4 km, 6 mins from the Castle. There is a lounge bar there and Forthside Bar Bistro. The lounge has a comprehensive bar menu and Forthside more finger food stuff. See linked menus. Perhaps we can meet up at the Forthside.

Unfortunately I have to leave on the 14th so the 13th pm would be the best time for me. I figure around 3:30pm, would leave plenty of time to eat something and get to the Castle in plenty of time to pick up tickets etc. I don't think ticket pickup will be till 6pm if the doors open at 7.

I think any get together needs to be in the afternoon before the show(s) mainly because most of the pubs close around 11:30pm (Crown is 1pm Thurs & Fri but no food after 8 I believe). I have only checked a few but "early closing" seem to be the norm.

Any of the pubs are OK with me so lets keep exploring and reach a concensus nearer the date?

Yea got my invitation this morning too. Asked for a ticket on the 13th,

I would like to have stayed for the 14th show but had to make sure I could get back in time for Elton John in Buffalo on the 15th.

Be interested to know how many fans are going to make it over. Perhaps we should try and organise a mass breakfast on the 13th for all N. American fans! Failing that, a few beers in a local pub perhaps after the recording.
