Ancient Land / Re: Bluray dvd or even a 4k dvd
« on: August 20, 2018, 11:32:44 AM »
As long as we still have a DVD option, I am OK with this.  Blu-rays and 4K blu-rays are severely encumbered with tough DRM, and I can't even view them with my laptop's Blu-ray drive because of some technical issue that I haven't debugged.

Megan Ruby Walsh / Re: Nickname for Megan's fans
« on: August 18, 2018, 10:31:51 PM »
I'll tweak David's suggestion a bit and put forth Megnificent as a nickname for Megan. ;)

Haha, OK!

I've heard of Chlovers before because Chloe used it in Facebook videos and tweets.  So that one has really caught on.

For Megan Ruby Walsh fans, there's always Megalomaniacs, which is a real word... but that's too crazy?  Well, it's the best I have.

Megan Ruby Walsh / Re: Before Celtic Woman

Thanks, CWazyTom!

I think the best song posted in this thread so far in terms of audio and video quality is Let It Go (2018-02-05).  I watched it twice because she sounds and looks so amazing in it.  Since this video was posted recently I guess it is pretty representative of what we're going to experience on September 13 to 14 in Ireland.

Everybody going to Johnstown Castle, how cool is this that we get to be in the first audiences to see Megan!?

It's going to be Meganificent!

Susan is pregnant! I think this explains why Susan disappeared from the Homecoming tour for several shows near the beginning and was temporarily replaced by Alex Sharpe.  She probably flew to Ireland to see a doctor.

Susan's absence was documented on the the Celtic Woman Homecoming YouTube channel.  They posted a video about Alex Sharpe on 2018-03-11, and they posted Susan's return announcement video on 2018-03-26, 15 days later.

I am glad I got to see her in Las Vegas after she returned.  As a secret bonus, I suppose we had two Byrnes on stage for that show too.   :D

I'm wondering if they will quickly get a replacement singer or if the Johnstown concert will be the first Celtic Woman event with just 2 starring singers in it.

CWazyTom: Thanks for the tip about Edel Murphy and Riverdance!  I remember Riverdance from the 90s and didn't realize they were still doing shows.  I just got my tickets, so I too will be seeing Lisa Lambe and Riverdance on two consecutive days.

What is the Curious Monkey you're talking about?  A coffee company on the outskirts of Dublin?

It took 8 days but someone from Celtic Woman wrote back to me and said I can attend!

I considered seeing Lisa Lambe in Galway on September 15th but it seemed better to just get to Dublin a few days early and catch her play on September 8th.  That way, I don't have to do quite so much travelling (I'm scared of driving a mirror image car and will limit myself to other forms of transportation ;)).  After seeing the play, I'll kill some time over the next four days.  Slane Castle and Powerscourt House are really close to Dublin so I might try to get tours there. I'll be sure to get to Wexford by September 12th and then probably leave on September 15th.

Tracie and CWazyTom: I'd be interested to attend the tentative fan gathering in Wexford you guys were talking about.   ;D

Forum Questions & Comments / Re: Forum Growth

Thank you for your work in making this forum, Glen.  I didn't realize there were two Celtic Woman Forums until I saw this thread, ;D.  I think the administrator of the other forum is missing, since they never made a Homecoming board and never answered my request to join.

Why do you need 100 users by the end of the year?  Are you using some sort of hosting service that incentivizes you to hit that mark?  I can't help effectively with marketing this forum but I could potentially help with the technical side of things, since I have experience setting up Linux servers and websites, and keeping them running for years.

Well, for what it's worth, I added a link to this forum on my personal site, in a list of things I care about, using this code:

<a href="https://www.celticwoman.com">Celtic Woman</a>
and <a href="http://www.celticwomanforum.net">Celitc Woman Forum</a>

I've seen the December 22 Atlanta date advertised on YouTube for quite a while now but I wasn't sure if it was real.  Yay for official announcements.

I expect Lisa Kelly to have a Christmas concert in the same area this year (as she said on Facebook).  Her academy is based in Peachtree City, right near Atlanta.  So a trip to Atlanta in December seems like it could be thing to do if the dates are close enough (but not conflicting!).

Wow, this is huge!

I just found out about it today on Twitter (thanks, CWazyTom!)  I'm happy for you guys who already got accepted to attend.  I don't know if they still have spots left.  When I emailed them this morning, the automated reply, which gives me some hope, was:

Thank you for registering your interest in the new Celtic Woman Special taking place in Johnstown Castle, Co. Wexford September 13th and 14th 2018.
There is a limited amount of complimentary seating available. Please note for those travelling from outside of Ireland, proof of travel may be required. We will be in touch with you in due course.

Best wishes
Celtic Woman Team

rfcw: Lisa Lambe is busy performing in the play "Jimmy's Hall" in Galway on the days of the Johnstown Castle concert (link).  I heard on Twitter that she sings a solo (The Parting Glass) in the play.  She's performing it in different cities in Ireland throughout July and September, check out her schedule.

Ancient Land / Re: What are you hoping for in the new DVD?
« on: July 31, 2018, 08:48:13 PM »
I'd like to see:
1. A surprising and risky element, like the six-person aerial in Believe, the young children in Believe, or fireworks.
2. Anthony Byrne appearing all of a sudden on top of a castle with bagpipes.  That never gets old.
3. The song "Star of the County Down" sung to a relaxing tempo instead of the usual fast tempo.  I don't think Celtic Woman has done that one yet.  I'm not sure who should sing it.  (I have a really nice version on a obscure CD named "Oasis World Volume VII Radio Sampler" by an obscure artist named "Keltish" which I would link to if I could.  Nice relaxing female vocals.)
4. Different versions of the DVD that use different camera angles, for people like me who will watch it over and over again.
5. Behind the scenes footage and interviews.
6. A shot of CWazyTom enjoying a song.  He does so much to spread Celtic Woman news!  :D
