Celtic Woman 20th Anniversary Tour / Re: Fall tour.
« on: February 04, 2024, 08:16:33 PM »
Gregg & I have definitely put a lot of money into this, but we love it with all our hearts and it's worth every penny! We both have good jobs that we are paid very well for and we don't have kids, so no childcare expenses. We are world travelers and the vast majority of the time we plan our travels based on the concerts we want to attend. The biggest hindrance for us is the number of vacation days we have, of which I am currently loaded but Gregg's is more limited. We love everything we're able to do and we have such a blast!
The Minneapolis show is on a Tuesday this time around so I hope to.
Ancient land, Postcards from Ireland and this latest Christmas tour were Saturdays so that made it easy.
I feel the 7:00 start time is on purpose

Yes, I am going in the spring! Gregg & I are starting off in Florida one week after opening night. I have big plans for the 20th Anniversary tour and currently have tickets for 16 shows. As of now, the Postcards From Ireland tour has my highest show count of a single tour at 14. I want to make my highest show count be on a tour that Mairéad is in, so I'm going all out on this tour! If the 20th Anniversary tour continues in the fall as I'm suspecting, then I'll likely drop a few spring shows to save the vacation time and travel funds and pick up some in the fall. I am counting attending the filming as one show, so I need at least 14 more to meet my goal. I'm really excited for this tour and I love the album, DVD, and this current group of four so much that I know I'm going to enjoy these shows immensely! Our hometown Minneapolis show is always one we very much look forward to because the Minneapolis crowds are the absolute bomb, as I know you've experienced as well! Hope you do come to the show!
Minneapolis would be the one I come to if I come.

Since this is the 20th Anniversary tour, I do think there will be a tour somewhere this fall, but I have no clue where. I personally am hoping for a Europe or UK tour because I want to travel overseas to attend! Hoping to find out soon so I can start planning.
Are you going in the spring?
I'm not but I want to because of the cancellation and rebooting of the 15th anniversary tour (rebooting because most of the Postcards from Ireland tour consisted of COVID hit dates from the 15th anniversary tour).

Anyone think there'll be/hope for a fall North American tour (pre christmas).
Maybe a run in October or so???
With the 10th anniversary we know that after they introduced Eabha and recorded Destiny they did a short Australian tour, had a very short break, did a month long USA tour, had brief time off and then finished with a short UK run before launching quickly into the Christmas tour.

Oh I finally Google translated the title of this song:
We are the women of Ireland.

I like that. It makes a stronger statement than ''Mná Na HÉireann' (Women of Ireland).

Ooh I love that!

This is an excellent opening song. I also love how it blends into a part of Tread Lightly and then the start of act 2 is the full song of Tread Lightly. So cool!

I'm hoping they bring back the curtain drop from the Celebration tour. They could be performing Is Sinne Mna Na hEireann behind a shimmery curtain where we can see their shadows, then drop the curtain right when the song turns into Tread Lightly. That would be an epic way to start the show!
Or else something like the Voices of angels Mo Ghile Mear could be next.
The Christmas tour they went RIGHT from Carol of the bells to angels we have heard on high without any talking or anything.

Makes me think if Orla was available for the 20th would they invite Eabha as guest so that it would equal the four pairs now to 5 pairs.
Orla would have a solo, but Eabha could have a duet with her if not also a solo herself? Suil a Ruin or any other song for them. / what song would we want?
They could've done Orla/Mairead C/Eabha Siul a Run knowing that Orla recorded it on her first solo CD The Water is Wide/the first Celtic Woman CD/show and Mairead C/Eabha recorded it on Destiny.

Did anyone know that Orla also sang it before Meav did for the new album??
It’s on Orla’s album lullaby time.

You guys are funny.

That made me think anyways.

Has Chloe performed w/ everyone except for Eabha & Hannah?
Has Mairead N performed w/ everyone except for Megan & Hannah?
Who would be "3rd place" if we were keeping track?
Yes. I think you're correct about Chloe & Mairead N. Chloe returned when Eabha quit then Hannah filled that spot after the postcards from Ireland tour finished. Mairead N quit in 2016, Megan came two years later and Hannah came four years after that. Neither Megan or Hannah is on the 20th anniversary album/special so that's correct.

Anyone ever given them a listen??
They've been around twice as long as Celtic Woman.
I've seen them twice in concert with a few differences in the lineup each time -- between the two the singer was definitely different.
The flautist/whistle player is HILARIOUS.

Ryan Kelly is temporarily leaving Celtic Thunder due to health reasons. Ronan Scolard (Mairead C’s husband) will be replacing him.

Ryan Kelly posted a video explaining why he had to take a break, and that he's back. It's worth a look. A great reminder that we are all human. I wish him the best!

So now do we get Ryan, Neil, Ronan, Emmett & Damian as the group??

Someone in a CT FB group I'm in said the guys recorded their show in Medford MA at the end of last fall's tour. That they announced it at the beginning of the show and spent some time recording audience applause and reactions.

Great idea, ofc in no doubt will this open the tour!
It was newly written for them right?
If it was it seems like they wanted it written to be a show opener.

Every tour has had a big opener meanwhile some of them were just new songs like Awakening and The Sky and The Dawn and The Sun, Winter Wonderland, Carol of the Bells, The Call.

The only tour that did something different special was SFTH where it created it's own opening entrance using a pre sequence to prior the song Nil Sen La. This Tour opened the show with that song instead of The Call!
Yeah with Songs from the Heart they flip flopped openers when they started touring it.
Looking at all the specials and the subsequent tours.
*Original -- Walking in the Air opened the special, The Sky & the Dawn & the Sun opened the tour. Walking in the Air was moved to start Act II.
*A New Journey -- The Sky & the Dawn & the Sun opened both the special and the tour. The Sky & the Dawn & the Sun was the opener from 2005-09. Was it just the Isle of Hope tour that had the spoken intro to start The Sky & the Dawn & the Sun??
*A Christmas Celebration -- Carol of the Bells opened the special then the 2011 symphony tour started with an orchestra overture and the first song with the ladies on stage was Carol of the Bells.
*Songs from the Heart -- The Call opened the taping & Nil Sen La opened Act two (this is evident by noticing the dancers/choir walk upward). The tour flipped them -- Nil Sen La had the acapella intro that then led into the song as they had recorded it after they blew out the candles. That was my first show (I didn't go until after they had cut from 5 women to 4).
*Believe -- Awakening started both the special and tour.
*Home for Christmas --- Winter Wonderland started the special but the 2013 symphony tour started with Carol of the Bells.
*Emerald -- Taped during the Believe tour so Awakening opened but The Sky & the Dawn & the Sun opened the Emerald & X tours. Believe & Emerald is the only time two specials have started with the same song.
*Destiny -- Terloc's Dream/When You Go opened both the special and the tour.
*Homecoming -- the Lament followed by Mo Ghile Mear from the VoA tour is the opening (this taping was initially announced as a VoA tour stop before it was confirmed they'd record it).
*Ancient Land -- music was the same but they had the choir sing the Ancient Land intro instead of the women.
*Postcards from Ireland -- This one was not a concert but Dawning of the Day opened both the special and tour.
At my show on that tour it was hard to hear Tara over the piper for the opening before the others showed up.

How was this recorded??

Songs from the Heart / Any idea where this was recorded?

It's definitely from Spring 2010 when Alex & Lynn were both still in the group.
