Caranua / What ever happened to...
« on: October 13, 2018, 03:40:13 PM »
What ever happened to CaraNua's music video they recorded with Jason Lyle Black ("Backwards Piano Man") back in April 2017?

In case you missed their rehearsal video last year, here it is:
https://www.facebook.com/jasonlyleblack/videos/10154568957982643/

A year and a half seems like a pretty long time for post-production, so I'm guessing something happened either with the funding or maybe with their rights to show it.

There's a slim chance it will be part of Jason Lyle Black's kickstarter-funded "Friend Like Me" album which is about to release, but I haven't heard either Jason or CaraNua mention their music video / recording in a really long time. I'd be surprised if any CaraNua stuff made it on to "Friend Like Me" with no fanfare.

Anyways, I feel like we've been waiting for quite a long time, so I asked about it today. We'll see where that goes.

The last take of The Parting Glass from night 2 of the DVD recording:

The audio isn't great, but there are some good close-ups of the girls in their lovely gowns.

Megan Ruby Walsh / Re: Radio Interviews - LMFM

That's weird.

I wonder why they took those down (or made them private)?

I don't recall there being anything bad or embarrassing in there that would motivate them to take it down to protect Megan or anyone else.

Some sort of rights issue with LMFM / CBOI / CW?

Are they down in all regions or just North America?

Other Musicians / Byrne and Kelly Retreat
« on: October 13, 2018, 12:01:37 PM »
Byrne and Kelly (Neil Byrne, Ryan Kelly, and Nicole Hudson) are doing a mutli-day retreat in Austin, Texas next spring.

April 28 - May 1

http://www.byrneandkelly.com/austin-tx

The price of the retreat (not including travel and accommodations) is $550 per person and includes the following:  three 90 minute concerts, appetizers during the 'Welcome Happy Hour Mingle', a 90 minute meet and greet that includes a Q&A, photo and autograph, Name That Tune event, Yard Games event, a merchandise swag bag, the resort fee (those items are listed below) + more

If Celtic Woman did one of these I would be there for sure!

And that price ... it's not much more than a 30 second CW M+G!

Wow! So apparently my ticket came with a free Celtic Thunder X CD (no shipping cost either).

I was pretty suspicious of it at first, but it seems they're actually doing this for ticket purchasers at selected venues on the tour. You're supposed to get an email with instructions about 7 days after the ticket purchase and I did. They give you a website to go to with a one-time redemption code. After double-checking a few things, I decided it was legitimate and filled out the form. I got a confirmation email, so that's a good sign. It should arrive in a couple of weeks.

That's pretty cool!

It seems there's a few different versions of the CD. The Double Deluxe CD has 2 discs, 26 tracks. Based on the information I received, I'm pretty sure they're sending out an alternative 14 track version (might include a 15th bonus track).

The show in itself was worth the ticket price. If this free CD thing works out too that would be awesome! It's almost like they know how to ensure my loyalty...

I haven't heard yet if the two Evermore Park soundtrack volumes are expected to be released as physical CDs yet.

The park founder liked my question, but nothing after that.

I'll follow up in a week or so.

Ancient Land on Tour / Re: 2019 Tour
« on: October 11, 2018, 05:47:45 PM »
Red Rocks is awesome!  I've been there 4 times to see CW.  All were, without a doubt, the best shows I've seen.

Favorite memory --  You are outside up in the mountains.  The stars are out (you are a long way away from the city lights).  There are red rocks surrounding the amphitheatre.  There is beautiful music.

They do the second verse to YRMU.   "Sometimes I think I glimpse eternity"

They were right!!

Wow!

How close to the stage did you sit each time?

I'm curious what the best place is to sit there to see a concert.

I get the feeling I might be going to more shows than I was expecting to on this tour.

Gotta re-live the Ancient Land magic!  I can't wait to see the whole list of tour dates!

I've already started putting in overtime hours to earn money for the trip to Denver.  My supervisor was saying today that she hopes the spring tour doesn't come to Minneapolis so that I have to travel and work more overtime to earn more Celtic Woman money.  lol  I said even if they come to Minneapolis I'll also be traveling somewhere because Gregg and I want a minimum of two shows on the spring tour!

I was planning on 2 or 3. I think it might be ... a lot more.

I replied to Tara's story:

That's kind of Aer Lingus: providing their passengers the best music possible!  Now they just need to get Ancient Land (aka Awesome Land) on their playlist for maximum listening pleasure! Woooo!!!

Lol. I hope it makes her smile.

Tara's on her way to the US for a little while.

She found the coolest thing on her flight over from Ireland, so in the most adorable way possible, she spent some time admiring her amazing work.

P.S. Aer Lingus: time to get Ancient Land on the playlist too!

Ancient Land / Re: Special Ancient Land Pre-order for Audience Members
« on: October 10, 2018, 10:28:11 AM »
Celtic Collections advised me that the discount code can only be used once per authorized email address.

So if you want to order multiple signed / discounted copies, you have to do it in the same order.

If you already placed your order, contact Celtic Collections (use the Contact Us button in the bottom right of https://shop.celticcollections.com). They can link the orders together and refund the shipping on one of the two orders if you give them both order numbers.

That's been on my list of things to do for a while.

I need to review Wikipedia's documentation to make sure they'll low that changed or if they'd reject it as trivial. Seems it falls into the category of spelling error, so I might be able to justify it that way.

If it seems like it's a valid change from their perspective, I'll get the article title fixed up (hopefully some time this week)

Ancient Land / Special Ancient Land Pre-order for Audience Members
« on: October 09, 2018, 10:20:51 AM »
There's a Ancient Land CD pre-order for audience members of the the Ancient Land shows at Johnstown Castle.

Celtic Collections sent out an email with instructions to audience members today.

The special pre-order is essentially a signed copy of the CD with a 1 EUR discount on the order.

The special pre-order is for the CD only.

The special pre-order did not refer to additional bonus tracks beyond the regular CD.

The special order ended up being $10 more for me than through an Amazon pre-order (after exchange rate and additional international shipping charges), but I decided it was worth it to have a special signed copy.

There may be more signed copies available through another exclusive offer yet to be announced (ie. like Target did last year), I'm really not sure.

Please don't share the instructions publicly. That will cause unnecessary confusion and work for Celtic Collections and could possibly affect the special pre-order for people that attended the shows.
