Whoa! That was totally different than what I was expecting (the Byrne and Kelly track of the same name is a totally different song). This is the Patrick Cassidy song, I think.

It's an intriguing sound: heavy on ornamentation and pretty soothing. Both singles they've released so far have essentially had slow vocal parts, with the ladies taking turns singing and just a touch of harmony.

It's certainly a fresh approach. It will be interesting to see how the fan base reacts to the new direction.

I honestly don't care for the new approach. I miss the harmonies that made it sound like Celtic Woman. This sounds like a movie score. It's not bad at all, and if it were for a different project I'd probably think it was really good, but it's not what I associate with Celtic Woman. It's also very orchestra-heavy, and they don't tour with an orchestra, so I guess they'll be using a lot of backing tracks.

Interesting! So he was already working with Celtic Woman and we didn't realize! I wonder if Meav's done too?

I can't say I'm surprised. I randomly looked at Gavin Murphy's website one day a couple of months ago and noticed that he said he was Celtic Woman's musical director from whatever year he started until 2020. The fact that he gave an end date made me think he was probably done working with them.

I have the Celtic Woman songbook, and they're written out in there.

"Now, let the day begin, now, ev'ry dancer spin, step in and step out again, ya da da da da da da.
Let ev'ry bell to ring, trumpet and violin, let ev'ry chorus sing, ya da da da da da da."

I think if Susan films, records, tours, or does anything else with them, they should add her as a current member when they update their website lineup. She's done so much for them it feels like she never left.

Have you tried getting in touch with any of the performers? They might know.

It was hard for me to choose too! I also loved Danny Boy, but I almost picked Si Do Mhaimeo, just because it was so much fun!

Deirdre Shannon / Favorite Deirdre Solo with Celtic Woman

Since a lot of people have seen the video of Deirdre in Celtic Woman, what's your favorite solo that she sang?

Thanks for sharing. It was interesting to see Deirdre performing with the group and what the first tour was like.

Did you have any favorite parts of the show?

I can't think of anymore, but I wish they would have done more of the ladies' original songs for those that are songwriters. I think I remember hearing or reading something Lisa Kelly said about Lynn (or maybe it was Chloe?) working on writing songs while on the bus and the songs being good, so it's a bit surprising that their songwriting talents weren't used more. Same for Celtic Thunder. I know they featured Keith's song "Lauren and I" in their first show, but I think that was about it for members' compositions, which is too bad.

Celtic Woman: The Original Show / Re: Set list for Original Tour
« on: June 06, 2021, 03:01:48 PM »
I remember reading an old post saying that they actually changed a couple of things throughout the first tour, so I'm sure that setlist was correct at some point in the tour. The following is the setlist from Celtic Woman's performance at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles in (I believe) October. It's extremely similar, but a couple of things are different.

Act 1:
The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun (All)
May It Be (Lisa)
The Butterfly (Mairead)
Danny Boy (Deirdre)
Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (Chloe, Orla, Deirdre, Mairead)
Someday (Chloe)
Suiil a Run (Orla)
The Blessing (Lisa)
Granuaile's Dance (Mairead)
One World (Lisa, Chloe, Orla, Deirdre)
Si Do Mhaimeo (Deirdre, Mairead)
Ave Maria (Chloe, Orla)
Somewhere (Lisa, Chloe, Orla, Deirdre)
Orinoco Flow (Lisa, Chloe, Orla, Deirdre)

Act 2:
Walking in the Air (Chloe)
Harry's Game (Orla)
She Moved Thru the Fair (Deirdre)
Send Me a Song (Lisa)
The Soft Goodbye (Lisa, Chloe, Deirdre)
Shooting Star (Orla)
Nella Fantasia (Chloe)
At the Ceili (Lisa, Orla, Deirdre, Mairead)
Ashokan Farewell/The Contradiction (Mairead)
The Voice (Lisa, Mairead)
Isle of Innisfree (Orla)
Sing Out! (All)
You Raise Me Up (All)
Spanish Lady (Lisa, Chloe, Orla, Deirdre)
You Raise Me Up (Reprise) (All)
Ceili Playout
