Celtic Woman / Re: Favourite solos per member
« on: December 03, 2021, 04:48:16 PM »
I'm only going with the CD versions since everyone has heard those (otherwise things would be slightly different)

Chloe: When You Believe
Lisa K: Send Me A Song
Meav: I Dreamt I Dwelt In Marble Halls
Orla: Isle Of Innisfree
Mairead N: Granuaile's Dance
Hayley: Scarborough Fair
Lynn: Carolina Rua
Alex: You'll Be In My Heart
Lisa L: Dulaman
Mairead C: Ae Fond Kids
Eabha: Garden Of Eden
Tara: Across The World
Megan: Bonny Portmore
Muirgen: Down By The Sally Gardens

Postcards from Ireland / Re: My thoughts on the album
« on: November 01, 2021, 12:38:15 PM »
I agree with many of your points Shining: I wish there was greater harmonies, which is what we as Celtic Woman fans come to expect. That's the main reason I wish they had used the tour version of May It Be (the harmonies on the were GORGEOUS).

I actually liked the majority of the solos! Not a big fan of Angel or the solo version of May It Be (not because of Susan, but mainly disappointment that the gorgeous tour version wasn't used); I thought Tara's were the best! Megan sounded beautiful on her solo of Bonny Portmore and I love Muirgen's as well!

I think the main weakness on the album for me was the group numbers. First and foremost, with the exception of Wild Mountain Thyme, the harmonies we're basically non-existent. Now, that doesn't need to occur on every song, but it is expected on most Celtic Woman songs. I actually really liked Wild Mountain Thyme, Dawning Of The Day, and Beeswing. Mise Eire was wonderful in it's haunting quality as well. But tbh, I didn't care much for Galway Shawl and Black Is The Colour. I think they could've gone for more complex harmonies using other songs to make the sound better.

Also, there was no fast tempo song on the album AT ALL (other than Tara's solo Calm Of The Day/Banshee). It doesn't need to be a Ceili/Dancing song. From the OG album, we had songs like Siul A Run, Si Do Mhaimeo, She Moved Thru The Fair; those weren't dancing songs but they were a bit of a faster tempo which gave us a change in the album's pacing.

Does anyone have a link to that Interview, btw? I've yet to be able to find it on YouTube.

I doubt Susan will be part of that one; she's expecting a second child so I don't think she'll be part of that show. I certainly wouldn't mind because I LOVE Susan! But I just don't think that's likely.

Celebration: The 15th Anniversary Tour / Best Of Interviews
« on: March 16, 2020, 03:48:36 PM »
Has anybody seen YouTube videos of CW's Best of interviews? The ones with Meav and the girls.talking about being in Celtic Woman?

As of right now, the state of Ohio has declared no groups of 100 or more people. With that being said, Dayton Arts Association has basically cancelled their shows and said that they will let us know if/when it will be rescheduled.

When is Killarney?

I agree with what you said. Susan is only filling in for a couple shows while Chloe does solo shows and Chile's rejoining us a smart move on her part given the recent release of her solo album.

My guess is that they're probably currently auditioning a new soloist who will have her premiere after the North America tour is over with.

I thought that Megan sang Innisfree... Was I wrong?

Celebration's on Tour / Re: Celebration tour setlist (SPOILERS)
« on: February 29, 2020, 07:56:06 AM »
After being at the first two shows --

I like the idea of Ballroom of Romance instead of TAR.
I like the old version of MGM more (ya know, the one with the big drums)
All I can say about Mairead and Nella Fanasia is WOW.
When You Believe was always a favorite of mine.  Nice to see it back,
I agree with Mattycakes about Dulaman.
I'm not a fan of May It Be.

My biggest pet peeve is they never do the second verse to YRMU.  Chloe did it in her show a week or so ago.  CW has done it once or twice at Red Rocks, where it is incredibly powerful.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. And it's not that I'm trying to be a purist or act like OG Celtic Woman is the only good thing. Because I don't think that! But I feel that constantly going back to those old songs that were done so well in the old days and not giving the soloists newer stuff of their own is a disservice to them. Group songs I get. But don't have the soloists constantly having to live up to the expectations of the old music and the old singers' styles.

Celebration's on Tour / Re: Celebration tour setlist (SPOILERS)
« on: February 28, 2020, 07:04:03 AM »
Interesting setlist! I like Chloe and Tara's solos. I can't believe I actually called Tara's solos exactly! I hoped for Across The World and Skyrim and knew The Enchanted Way was staying but wow!

I love that Megan is singing Innisfree. I LOVE that song! As for The Voice, I'll reserve judgement. Not because I'm uncertain Megan has the vocals for it. No, for me, I simply felt that the Homecoming version Susan sang lacked the oomph that the percussion in the original version had. For me, removing the violin and switching to the pipes was no biggie, it simply lacked that percussion I loved. As for I See Fire, I find it odd that Megan is singing one of Mairead's solos, but we'll see how it goes. I never really liked that song to begin with, but hopefully Megan can change my mind.

As for Mairead's solos, again, Dulaman isn't my fave anymore. I feel it's been overdone by CW, but hopefully Mairead can reach me when I see them live. I personally would've preferred finally seeing A Time For Us! As for Nella Fantasia, I'm so glad that's back. Mairead always soars on that song and I'm glad she can once again.

My only hope is that later in the your they remove Teir Abhaile Riu. I don't like the VOA version and would rather they brought back Ballroom Of Romance in it's place! That was such a fun song that I would love to see performed live!

Overall, it's an interesting setlist! CW is certainly doing it's best to make changes and keep us on our toes!

Celebration: The 15th Anniversary Tour / Re: Solo Speculation
« on: February 18, 2020, 02:04:52 PM »
This is fun!  Here is what I predict, off the top of my head, without consulting previous albums or the picks that mattycakes and Tracie made.  These are mainly predictions, but they are biased towards what I would want to see.

Chloë: Walking on the Air, When You Believe
Susan: The Whole of the Moon, She Moved Through the Fair
Mairéad: Newgrange, Caledonia
Megan: Send Me a Song, Scarborough Fair
Tara: Tara's Tunes, Granuaile's Dance

I might post some updates if my mind changes.  This is tricky, because if any of the singers are accompanied by Tara, then I wouldn't really count it as a solo to me.  I think it would be amusing if a few of us committed to a prediction of two solos per singer before opening night and we could see how many songs we got right.
Sadly, I don't think Send Me A Song will happen, as it's a David Downes original. I love the idea of Scarborough Fair though! I forgot about that song!
