Chloë announced that she's wrapped almost all her vocal recordings for her first independent album (the "Reimagine" project).

There's still a lot of instruments to add and other work to be done on the tracks, but it's coming along! She seems REALLY excited!

Less than a week left in Chloë's Indiegogo fundraiser campaign!

CaraNua advised today they were still finalizing a few things with the album.

Nathan Carter was apparently recording some accordion for Chloë's new album this weekend.

Mairead Nesbitt / Re: Celtic Heart: PBS Special and DVD (writeup)

So I found out from someone today that I was on the DVD.  :o

I thought I had a pretty good look several times I watched the PBS special and the DVD and didn't see anyone I recognized much less myself.

So I ran the DVD again today and this time paused the crowd shots at various points during the closeups and sure enough found some shots with me in them. There was one in between Isle of Skye and The White Forest and another in between Kid ar an Sliabh and The Light of Highland Meadow. I can be seen in a super-bright Mairead Nesbitt T-shirt.

Interesting.

The shots where you can see the "balconies" are obviously not from the same venue because there were no balconies at the venue in Maine, but it seems they did use some closeup shots from the actual show in Maine.

Hopefully we see this site back again some day. Such amazing content, especially the past tour dates and lineups!

I listened to Lindsey's new album Artemis.

I enjoyed it. It's comparable to her other albums. Most tracks are violin instrumentals. Some tracks have vocals too.

The packaging was cool. It has an anime characterization of her on the front and some more far out anime on the back cover. The inside is a futuristic looking city that spreads across both panels. Each panel has a some-what snug cardboard sleeve (one containing the CD, the other containing the liner notes booklet.

The booklet contains some anime images and quotes. The lettering is kind of fancy and it's presented vertically rather than horizontally (matrix style). I found it a little challenging to read, but perhaps that was the point, to have people concentrate on the words more slowly instead of just glossing over them.

Like most of her recordings, the album is heavy on synth. It's a little less of a grungy sound than her first 2 albums. There's a few tracks that use a technique of rapidly fading out and back in periodically. I don't know the proper term, so I'll call it amplitude pulsing. It sounds a little trippy / disorienting, but I didn't mind it too much.

I didn't dislike any of the tracks but I didn't absolutely love any of the tracks either. They were all fun to listen to. The 2nd last song, Aurora was probably my favorite. Most of the tracks were in a minor key and Aurora was in a major key, so that was a pleasant and uplifting change. Ironically, the last song (The Upside) was my least favorite I suppose.

One of the tracks (not the last one) features Amy Lee (of Evanescence).

If you liked her other albums, I suspect you'll like this one too!

Lindsey's Christmas album (Warmer in the Winter) is probably still my favorite of hers though. It had the purest sound and multiple tracks I really, really loved.

The last 30 hours or so have been insane!

Amy was in and out of 1st several times during the day. The wild and sudden swings in positions could really only be explained by large MusiCares donations. It seems our donor pools went to war. Amy's donors came in with several large contributions. But every time we got her into first, her competitors would get back ahead of her suddenly within hours, no doubt with even larger donations of their own.

We tried to make a last minute flurry of donations to get Amy back inton1st without time for her competitors to respond, but unfortunately it wasn't enough.

The result isn't official until Friday afternoon, but unless the top 2 competitors get disqualified Amy finished 3rd.

I'd like to thank everyone for their votes, their donations, and their time.

Amy really appreciated how much support she received.

894
Ok, thanks Glen.

She's back in 3rd at the moment after being in 1st for a few hours.

That means the people at the top were pretty close together within a few hundred votes or less.

All my major donors are dry at this point, so I'll try putting in one more big donation before the 2-for-1 expires tonight. Hopefully it's enough.

If she makes it through to the next round though, I've got to find some more people to donate big for her because I'm pretty much going to be tapped out after this next donation, especially after Chloë's fundraiser.

After a busy 24 hours of fundraising for Amy, she's moved up to 2nd place!

And they opened up 2-for-1 voting for the next 11 hours.

I'm trying to get a few more big donations (a few hundred dollars) as I'm sure her competitors will have some big ones coming in too.

UPDATE: She got into first briefly this morning! So her competitors are putting up a fight but we're REALLY close!!!

This is the last day of the semifinal round (ends tonight, September 19th, at 11 PM EDT), so make sure you get your free votes in for today and if there's anything you can donate, now is the time!

Every vote could be the one that makes the difference!

Thanks everyone!

Chloë mentioned today that the first project (Reimagine) could be out by the end of the year!

She's been recording for the past few weeks and she seems really excited about the way it sounds.

Chloë says these songs sound totally different than the way we've heard her perform them before!

This is so exciting!

Lindsey Stirling announced her 2019 Warmer in the Winter tour today! There are also lots of European dates for her Artemis tour this fall.

I donated a significant amount to try to get her to the top of her group, but it looks like 1st and 2nd place are putting up HUGE numbers (probably thousands of votes ahead).

Amy and I both agree at this point we can't close the gap in time with daily free votes. Amy's exhausted from juggling work, performances, and the competition though. So CWazyTom is trying to scramble together some other big donors. If you see her jump into first, you'll know I succeeded. Lol.

Last I heard this was due out in August or September.

We're half-way through September, so hopefully we'll have an update soon!
