I was trying to use it yesterday and it wasn't working for me.

I type something and press send but then the text field contents just disappear and nothing seems to actually get sent.

It's not working today either. Not sure when it last did.

Global chat worked fine for me.

Private chat did not.

I am not really interested in the chat, but just so you know, I don't think it's visible to me.

I saw the "User's online" section at the bottom of the front page of the forum.  When I click on that, it takes me to the Who's online page where I can see the different unique users on the forum and what they are looking at.  It's not a chat though.

I attached a picture of the bottom of the front page of the forum.

Interesting. The chat bar isn't hidden in your forum profiles.

My guess would be a browser setting. The SA Chat documentation isn't the greatest, but I did manage to find a way to reproduce what you two are seeing (or not seeing)...

If I block cookies in my browser it prevents the chat window from appearing.

There might be other possible causes though.

Well, I'm not blocking cookies.  Given the four data points we have, my theory would be that the chat is somehow only turned on for administrators/moderators like Tom and Glen.

Thanks for confirming and good call.

After ruling out cookies, I went digging through the permissions and found the problem.

I made a test user and confirmed it's appearing now.

Working on another issue with it at the moment so it might not work for a little bit...

Tom I have been playing with it for the last 2 days it's not going to work on this forum it's due to the coding issues with the adk mod and the theme. The Adk mod gives us all the diff photos for the boards it is meant to be used with a older vers of SMF and not with this theme so I added the code that needed to be in the theme to get ADK mod to work. I would rather have the diff photos for each board then the chat I will keep looking for another chat system that might work but not to likely

Alrighty. Yeah, I would much rather have board-specific photos.

I'll remove the permissions for non-admins for now since the chat bar is just going to annoy people as is.

The chat bar shows 2 pages of errors and they are all the same errors and I have looked them up and they just point out the error text so who knows where the problem really is
