Celebration: The 15th Anniversary Tour / Solo Speculation
« on: February 17, 2020, 05:24:23 PM »
This topic is pretty straightforward! What solos do you think the girls are going to sing OR what solos do you want them to sing?

It would seem that we have some confirmation that Chloe will be singing When You Believe again. I hope they have a larger choir for this tour, otherwise I don't think this will work as well as on previous tours. I would also love if they revisited Galway Bay with Tara on the harp while Chloe sings.

For Mairead, I hope she sings Ae Fond Kiss again. I absolutely LOVE hearing her sing this one! I also think it would be lovely if she sang Newgrange once again. It's an old song that CW has sang for years but this newer version works so well for Mairead, so I would love hearing her soaring vocals on it.

With Megan, I'm a little bit unsure. I'm so tired of Fields Of Gold (she's singing the third freakin version) and, while I know she loves it and she sounded lovely on it, Faith's Song never really appealed to me. I hope she continues singing Shenandoah at the very least. I have always loved that song and you don't hear it sang that often anymore (my friend Jimmy, who used to play that song with his school's orchestra, heard her singing it and literally said "I have never once heard the lyrics to this song before"). For her second solo, I would love to hear her take on a solo performed by one of the former members that hasn't been revisited in the Gavin Murphy era. For instance, I would love if she were to cover one of Alex or Lynn's solos! I think she would sound sound great soloing on My Heart Was Home Again or hitting those higher notes in My Lagan Love.

As for Tara, I feel almost certain that she'll be performing The Enchanted Way again (which thank God for that, because that song is AMAZING). I also hope that she'll perform Across The World again. I feel that is the superior of her faster solos (Tara's Tunes just doesn't seem as fun to me). I also hope she performs For The Love Of A Princess, as that's my favorite of her slow solos. Although! Now that I think about it, she could perform Skyrim! I loved that song (I also love that game so it wouldn't hurt my feelings)!

What about you guys? What are you hoping to hear?

Maybe it's a decoy and they open with a short bit of The Last Rose of Summer instrumental into Walking In the Air with Chloë. ;)
Ha!

john hunt posted on his insta story with a video of the rehearsals and they were playing the original version of Homecoming Lament. so that means that’s probably going to be the opener with Mo Ghile Mear.
I hope they open with Ancient Land into Homeland, and then do Homecoming Lament and Mo Ghile Mear for the second act opening! I think that would work better, personally.

Celtic Woman / Gavin Working With Paul Byrom

Here's some news! Apparently Gavin Murphy is working with Paul Byron on Paul's new solo album! According to Paul's Twitter, they're meeting at the National Concert Hall. Good luck!

We enjoyed the "larger" choirs...…

I loved the larger choirs! I would prefer if it'd be a choir of like 6 or 8 (even between guys and girls).

maybe a greatest hits album ?
I doubt that a greatest hits album will happen. While I would love it to, the first 10 years of CW were under the David Downes leadership, and now, after the split with CW that David Downes had, they will not be able to perform any of the old songs that he had arranged for them.

Lisa Kelly / Re: Favourite Lisa solo with Celtic Woman

Had to go with Send Me A Song! Her voice in that song is so breathlessly beautiful... She sounds so rich and soulful in that gorgeous song.

It's entirely possible that there will be a recording, but I doubt it would be with Chloe. I'd say it's more likely that it will happen some time in the fall when the new member arrives.

Celebration's on Tour / Re: Spoilers about the Celebration Tour
« on: January 23, 2020, 02:57:02 PM »
Yeah, maybe Éabha leaving was a surprise to the Celtic Woman team.  I made my first post in this thread on October 11th, and it linked to a page on kingcenter.com with text and a picture that both indicated that Éabha would be part of the Celebration tour.  Those things probably came directly from Celtic Woman, and you'd think they would have done things differently if they knew Éabha was leaving.  I don't think they want to purposely give inaccurate information to the venues and fans.

I love hearing gossip so I wish I knew exactly who knew what and when, and whether any contracts were broken, but we'll probably never really know.

Honestly, I don't think that there was any negative intentions behind Eabha's leaving. The only time there ever was would be the whole Deirdre Shannon situation, which was a true shame. My suspicion is that she simply made the decision after Christmas (people do tend to make those sorts of decisions after holidays) and then the CW team was left to make other arrangements.

And the thing is, the obvious choice would have been Susan seeing as she is really the only former singer in the Gavin Murphy era so she at least knows the songs better. But they probably wouldn't have asked her seeing as she left to start a family and her child is only a little over a year old so she wouldn't want to be away that long. Filling in for Mairead for her appendectomy or Chloe for a week or 2 wouldn't be an issue, but 80-some concerts would probably wear her out. But Chloe is a rarity in the CW membership seeing as she's still one of the youngest members, so she has the stamina, and also she's not married yet, so that means she has a bit more freedom to run off to tour with greater ease. The only other girl that applies to is Lynn who is busy with CaraNua. Now, I'm not saying Chloe has no life or career! I'm simply pointing at the as the youngest, she's in a much better position to be able to handle the tour. And the fact that she's a founding member and it's the Celebration Tour is also a wonderfully happy coincidence.

But they'll probably announce a new member some time in the summer or fall. And at least this will give The Powers That Be ample time to find a new girl to join the team!

Celebration: The 15th Anniversary Tour / Re: Celebration Speculation

Now that we know Chloe is rejoining for the Celebration Tour, I'm curious as to what songs we think she'll revisit!

Several of her songs (specifically Ave Maria and Nella Fantasia) have been revisited by Celtic Woman since her departure, having been covered by Mairead. What songs do we think Celtic Woman may rearrange for her (since she departed during the David Downes era and hasn't been present for the Gavin Murphy era)?

Here's my speculation: I seriously doubt they'll revisit Nella or Ave again. At the very least, I don't expect Chloe to do so. Personally, I would love if she revisited Galway Bay! In particular, I can imagine her singing that song with Tara playing the harp to accompany her. I can do without the bagpipes (tbh, I never really felt they fit with the sound of the song; I always felt a tin whistle would have sounded better than the bagpipes). I would also LOVE if she could revisit the song Someday! I absolutely adore that song and never even knew of its existence until CW! Chloe's version is actually one of the reasons why I fell in love with Hunchback Of Notre Dame so hard and is the reason I am wishing, hoping, and praying that Disney does a live-action remake. I actually can't see her doing When You Believe, which I feel is her signature song, without a larger choir on tour.

Further, I really hope we get a beautiful operatic song between Chloe and Mairead. Personally, I would love the two of them to sing The Prayer together!

Celebration's on Tour / Re: Spoilers about the Celebration Tour

Well! As we all now know, Eabha has decided to depart from CW to focus on her solo songwriting and singing career. Firstly, let's all wish Eabha nothing but the best in all her future projects and send her our constant love and support!

Secondly, onto the Celebration Tour info: Eabha's vacancy will be filled by founding CW member Chloe Agnew! I'm very excited to see Chloe onstage with the group once again! I know that she'll be with the group when she comes to the show I'm attending in Dayton. However, she does have some prior concert commitments, so Susan will be rejoining for (I believe this number is correct; help me out if I'm wrong) six shows.

That second bit of info (particularly the part about Susan filling in briefly for Chloe during Chloe's prior commitments) leads me to believe that Eabha's departure came as a bit of a surprise to the CW team. It's so sad to see Eabha leaving, but I am truly excited to see Chloe's return (she was always my favorite). I can't wait to see what Celtic Woman has in store for us for this tour!

Celtic Woman / Re: Eabha leaving Celtic Woman! Chloë is back!

Well, this certainly is a bittersweet surprise. Chloe returning to the group is a very welcome event! I was surprised to hear it! Even more shocking is the announcement of Eabha's departure. I loved the addition of an alto to the group; she made for a much more rounded sound to Celtic Woman. I hope they find another alto to fill her spot in the group. I have to admit I was also a little bit surprised that Eabha left before Mairead did. Although I never want to see any of the girls leave the group, it's been a privilege having Eabha as a member of Celtic Woman. She was always the embodiment of grace and poise. Plus she was just the sweetest (having met her during the Destiny Tour).

Good luck in your future endeavors Eabha! We'll continue to love and support you!

I also look forward to meeting the newest member of the group, most likely this summer!

Any chance they will come to Europe for the 15th Anniversary Tour as well? Most of the time they come to Europe every 2 years. But i would love to see them more often! :) Especially with a special tour like this one. I'm so curious about the songs!

We here on the forum often find out about things they have planned before the official announcements get made. If we find out anything about Europe, we'll certainly post it! Hope they do a Europe Celebration tour for you!

Thank you so much Tracie! And it's so cool that you got to talk with the ladies recently! :) It is surprising to me that they didn't know their schedule yet. I would have thought they would be the first ones to know.

In all honesty, this doesn't really surprise me. As Tracie said, many venues sell their tickets months in advance. I get emails asking me if I want to purchase tickets for events happening in December 2020 right now! All of the really big shows (Broadway musicals, local orchestra concerts, etc) are always planned months in advance. In addition to giving fans plenty of time to get tickets, it also gives the arts associations plenty of time to sell tickets or to use them as local media giveaways (as prizes for radio shows or news programs, etc), as well as gives the association plenty of time to advertise.

No offense meant to the girls in any way, but they don't really need to know as early. The CW production teams need to know first so they can plan out a stage design, choreo, wardrobe, etc. In all honesty, the actual performers are typically the last people to know in any production.

Celebration's on Tour / Re: Spoilers about the Celebration Tour

I know this is totally late for the party, but I hope when they say Teir Abhaile Riu, that they mean the original version. I really did not care for the VOA version at all. In my opinion, if they wanna show the girls playing some instruments, it should be something like The Kesh Inn. I actually adore that song! Or go a more The High Kings route and have them play and sing on one of the many Irish up-tempo songs. Whiskey In The Jar, Phil The Fluter's Ball, or even re-visiting Nil Sen La in this way would be better if you ask me.

Celtic Woman / Re: Songs You Wish Celtic Woman Would Perform
« on: November 27, 2019, 06:17:08 PM »
So many!

I love the idea of Into The West, but I think it'd be better as a Megan solo.

I also loved the suggestions of Wild Mountain Thyme, Raglan Road, Star Of The County Down, My Love Is Like A Red Red Rose, Fields Of Athenry, and The Town I Loved So Well. So many great Irish songs. I would also include The Holy Ground, The Green Fields Of France, and even Buachaill Ón Eirne.

And a couple of the more up-tempo ones too! Like Rocky Road To Dublin, Marie's Wedding, or even Whiskey In The Jar!

I would love the girls to sing Bette Midler's The Rose as a group song, maybe even a cappella.

And have the three singers come together for a close harmony of Hallelujah.... *chills*

I would also love some more Disney songs! They used to perform them all the time! The girls could come together for an a cappella rendition of A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes! Tara could perform a lovely version of Once Upon A Dream on violin with the orchestra or she could revisit How Does A Moment Last Forever. Mairead or Megan could sing a beautiful version of Go The Distance. They could revisit Someday as a duet between Eabha and Megan (seeing as the song is a duet in the Broadway version).

And of course, some songs from musical theatre! The remake of Over The Rainbow was stunning! They could have Mairead sing Climb Ev'ry Mountain or have Eabha and Mairead duet on Edelweiss. Megan could sing Memory seeing as I loved Lea Salonga's version! I would probably die if Gavin rearranged Somewhere as a duet between Mairead and Megan, like Over The Rainbow from Ancient Land. Ooh! Or perhaps Tomorrow as an a cappella number? Or On My Own, sung by Megan or Mairead. And who wouldn't love the singers doing a lovely rendition of Good Morning?

Anyway! Sorry! I got a little carried away! And I have more suggestions too! Lol
