A Christmas Celebration / A Christmas Celebration: Your favourite songs
« on: February 10, 2019, 02:21:27 PM »
I love this album particularly much, so it's difficult for me to choose only five, but I think it's: O Come All Ye Faithful, The Wexford Carol, White Christmas, Green The Whole Year Round, and Christmas Pipes.

Voices of Angels / Voices of Angels: Your favourite songs
« on: January 31, 2019, 08:26:00 AM »
This is another difficult choice for me. Since a lot of these songs are re-arranged versions of old favourites, I would like to say that I pick only within the context of this album - both in the song choice and the way they are done. I mean... I don't pick the songs based on how much I like them in general, or how much I like this version compared to a former one. It's still hard. This album is so tightly done - it's like one very big song, done in a very intimate style. The atmosphere is almost chamber music like, and while each track on the album is hard to seperate to the others, the songs have been done before stand entirely on their own from their predecessors - not better or worse versions, more like different songs. So, to pick my favourites I have to go with a sudden mood which might change sooner or later, but here we have: Mo Ghile Mear (which I love, but love differently from the ANJ version, which is my second favourite of all CW songs), Across the World, Danny Boy, You Raise Me Up, Once In Royal David's City, and maybe... I just don't know, I can't really seperate the songs on this album, as I just said a few sentences earlier... no wait, those are five already, I made it! Yay!

A New Journey / A New Journey: Your favourite songs
« on: January 31, 2019, 08:04:32 AM »
Now, A New Journey is my all-time favourite CW album and dvd. The others - well, I love them pretty much equally, some maybe a bit more than some others, but that very much depends on my mood or even a sort of "phase" and it could very much be that at some point I like an album particularly much that I wasn't too fond of earlier, or care less about one that I usually like a particular lot. But A New Journey? A New Journey - safe for the Christmas albums, perhaps - stands still on #1 of my personal Celtic Woman charts. Choosing five favourites is a particular tough choice for me, yet here they are: Mo Ghile Mear, The Blessing, Somewhere, At the Ceili, and... Beyond the Sea or The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun? I cannot choose, so I'll just say The Last Rose of Summer.

Celtic Woman: The Original Show / Celtic Woman: Your favourite songs
« on: January 31, 2019, 07:53:19 AM »
It amazes me how Timeless this album is - it hasn't lost any of its charm over the years, and more amazingly, the entire concept of Celtic Woman stood really well even in the very first concert. It's hard to pick only five favourites from this magnificent list, but mine are The Soft Goodbye, One World, I Dreamt I Dwellt In Marble Halls, Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, and Send Me A Song. (Also, technically Somewhere, but I somehow prefer the almost identical ANJ version - I don't know why. Probably because I heard knew it first, or because I think the warm visuals are more fitting, or because it sounds a slight bit fuller to me...)

Believe / Believe: Your favourite songs
« on: January 31, 2019, 07:38:50 AM »
This is really difficult for me, because I love Believe particularly much - it's a lot different from most other CW albums, but it's so full of warmth, and so richly in every aspect. And... it's just very dear to me. I'd say my top five are The Parting Glass, Green Grow The Rushes, Walking the Night, Smile, and... woah, that's really difficult now. My Hear Was Home Again.

Celtic Woman / They are in the studio!
« on: January 30, 2019, 05:14:50 PM »
Mairéad's and Éabha's instagram stories show that they are in a recording studio - you can even see Tara and Megan in Éabha's video, so it's definitely a group thing! What could that be? A single? Most likely not a new album, since they have just made Ancient Land... something entirely different? What else could they be recording? A sort of promo?

Ancient Land on Tour / Your hopes and ideas for the upcoming tour!
« on: January 30, 2019, 01:20:17 PM »
Since the tours often differ slightly from the album and dvd... what are your personal ideas and hopes for it?

Mine are the following:

A slightly warmer/brighter atmosphere than the previous tours - every CW tour has it's own sort of theme, which is awesome, but lately they have been fairly serious and dark. Since Ancient Land is a much brighter show, I hope the tour, too, will be like that, or even lighter and warmer and generally more cheerful than the dvd version.
Some rare old songs - since also every tour has some new versions of Celtic Woman classics, I really hope they will perform a few that we haven't heard in a while. Some of my suggestions: Galway Bay, My Land, Caledonia, The Water is Wide. On another not, I'd also like Éabha to sing The Wild Mountainside instead of Siulil a Run. I also wouldn't mind if the tour included Mo Ghile Mear, but in that case it should be an entirely new arrangement. I understand they can't use the old one, and that wouldn't really work anyway, but the new version is too serious. Of course, the focus is on the new songs, but I still think this is important.
A slightly larger choir - but I think I've said that of all the more recent tours.
Some sort of surprise - a whole new song, a different array of dresses for another number, a new twist a beloved song. Something unexpected, but nice.
A rich ending - You Raise Me Up, some other song, The Parting Glass, Be Still, and finally Going Home. In that order. (Also, end the first act with Long Journey Home.)

Ancient Land / Ancient Land: The Dresses
« on: January 17, 2019, 03:58:21 PM »
I've said so before - I really love the dresses, and I really wonder who made them. They are clearly not Marchesa, but - finally again! - custom made. Does anybody know if Synan is responsible for them again? They look like they could be his but also... well, someone else's. It's awfully difficult to say. They did wear his dresses for the Christmas tour and a tv appearance lately, so I suppose they haven't seperated from his designs.
