General Discussion / CW mech (Manhead Merch)
« on: July 14, 2020, 02:39:00 PM »
I ordered a program book from them and they charged me $12.41 shipping to ship it from Nashville Tn. to Wisconsin which the post office says the charge is $8.00 for the way they shipped it and then when it got here the book was damaged. I contacted them about the damage to the book and they gave 2 options 1 was a 25% refund 2nd was send it back and they would send me another book and shipping was on me to return the book well i took the only one that i thought was the way to go i took the 25% refund and if i had returned the book it cost me $12.41 to get the book and then another $8.00 to return it for a total of $20.41 for a 10.00 book. I told them i would wait and buy a good book when i seen the show next year and they didn't care. I just think it wasn't a good handleing of the problem. I was thinking they would tell me to throw the book away and they would send me another one but that didn't happen so watch what you order from them

General Discussion / Running a humidifier helps
« on: March 04, 2020, 02:05:28 PM »
I have read that using a Humidifier in your home helps fight the flu Virus and maybe the same for the new Crona virus a dry house the virus can live on stuff for 24+ hours but a house that has above 45% humidity levels the virus can only live about a hour. It also makes your home feel warmer with more humidity in it so maybe you can turn down the heat and save some money. This is why all these virus's come out in the winter is because of lack of humidity and the best type of humidifier to use is a Evaporative Humidifier  The Mist ones leave a white dust all over your home and it's nasty as it settles on everything windows and all even inside your cabinets I learned this first hand. Hope this little bit of info will help some stay healthy

This is a study by the National Institution for Occupation Safety and Health (NIOSH)

When humidity levels were at 23%, 70 to 77% of flu virus particles were still able to cause an infection an hour after coughing. Raising humidity levels to 43% caused only 14% of flu particles to be able to cause an infection.

Additionally, high humidity was just as effective on small flu particles as large ones. That’s key because small flu particles tend to hang in the air for a longer time, while large particles fall to the ground.

Using a humidifier during the winter months can raise the humidity level in your home and combat the risk of a flu outbreak. Keep reading below for some tips and tricks on how to monitor and improve your indoor humidity.

He joined Riverdance where he was Music Director on Broadway, as well as for the American and European touring companies. Later he and Sharon Browne formed 'Celtic Woman', which has toured across the world with platinum recordings in the USA, Australia, Japan, South Africa, and major following in Asia, Europe and South America.

Musicography

Downes has written many original songs for Celtic Woman, including: The Soft Goodbye, Send Me a Song, One World, The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun, At the Céili, Sing Out!, Granuaile's Dance, The Lost Rose Fantasia, The Blessing, The Call, Green the Whole Year Round, Walking The Night and Tabhair Dom Do Lamh. Also, he has been working on a drama, which is based on the Easter Rising of 1916, featuring Lisa Lambe and Malcolm Sinclair, known as The Bloody Irish!

Work with other artists

In 2007, Downes helped former Celtic Woman member Hayley Westenra to record The Last Rose of Summer for her album Treasure. The song was sung as a duet by Westenra and another member of Celtic Woman, Méav Ní Mhaolchatha, while Downes led the orchestra.

Awards

Celtic Woman albums have been credited platinum in many countries, and the DVDs of their TV concerts multi-platinum, in some cases, with notable popularity in the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, Germany, France, Austria and South Africa.

In 2010 Downes was nominated for an EMMY award for Outstanding Musical Direction for a televised musical event.
