Celtic Woman / Re: Celtic Woman singing Disney songs

How could I forget those?  Especially Circle of Life!  I saw them perform that one live, and it was great!

Other Musicians / Yulia Townsend
« on: May 17, 2018, 03:22:01 PM »
Does anyone remember Yulia Townsend, the Russian singer who performed with Meav in "The Divinas"?  She's still singing, and she has a lovely voice.  I believe she lives in New Zealand (coincidentally, she often performs the same songs Hayley does).  She sometimes goes by the name Yulia MacLean.

Here's a link to a video of her singing a song called "We're All Alone":

And here's "The Actress," another song she does that I really like:

Celtic Woman / Celtic Woman singing Disney songs
« on: May 17, 2018, 03:13:47 PM »
I think it's really cool that a lot of the Celtic Woman members have performed Disney songs and have even sung or played in Disney movies.  It would be so neat if they did a Disney concert one day.

Here's a list of some Disney songs the Celtic Woman ladies have done.

Chloe - Someday (from The Hunchback of Notre Dame); Baby Mine (from Dumbo)

Alex - You'll Be In My Heart (from Tarzan); Beauty and the Beast (from Beauty and the Beast);
Disney Medley, including When You Wish Upon A Star (from Pinocchio), Part of Your World (from The Little Mermaid), Colors of the Wind (from Pocahontas), A Whole New World (from Aladdin), Reflection (from Mulan), and I See the Light (from Tangled)

Mairead Nesbitt - the soundtracks of Tinker Bell and Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, as well as the Tinker Bell songs To the Fairies They Draw Near, If You Believe, Where the Sunbeams Play, and Gift of a Friend

Lisa Kelly - Let It Go (from Frozen); When You Wish Upon a Star (from Pinocchio); If You Believe (which she sang in Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure)

Meav - Where the Sunbeams Play (which she sang in the credits of Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure)

Orla - La La Lu (from Lady and the Tramp); Baby Mine (from Pinocchio); When You Wish Upon A Star (from Pinocchio); Stay Awake (from Mary Poppins)

Susan - How Far I'll Go (from Moana)

Tara - When She Loved Me (from Toy Story 2)

Hayley - Here Beside Me (which she sang in the credits of Mulan 2)

Did I miss anything?

Here is an audio of Deirdre singing Isle of Innsfree on the CD "If You're Irish":

I saw where Tiffany posted on the other forum that Innisfree could be a good song for Deirdre, so I thought I'd share. :)

Oh, OK. No matter who wrote it, I love the song and think it's really pretty. I also like the Secret Garden songs Celtic Woman has done, especially Sometimes A Prayer Will Do.

Isn't the song Winter's Light that Chloe did on her CD also a Secret Garden song?

I saw Chloe and Nathan perform together in Rochester, NY at Hochstein School of Music and Dance. I of course was not disappointed!!!!! I take voice lessons at Hochstein and was able to meet both Chloe and Nathan after the show!!!!!

That's really cool!

Other Musicians / Re: Lindsey Stirling

Lindsey is great!

Her videos have high production value.

Her performance style was inspired in part by Mairead Nesbitt. She incorporates a lot of energetic movement while performing.

She has 5 albums that I know of:

Lindsey Stirling (2012)
Shatter Me (2014)
Lindsey Stirling: Live from London (2015)
Brave Enough (2016)
Warmer in the Winter (2017)

She's a classically trained violinist, but I would describe most of her work as pop-crossover. She's really good, and can play with astonishing pace and a great deal of feeling. Sometimes I think there's an unnecessary dubstep / synth / grunge involved. I understand that that (and her awesome YouTube videos) helped her connect with part of the mainstream audience. But personally I love it when she plays violin straight up and I can fully appreciate how great a violinist she is.

I liked her first 3 studio albums, but while those were highly enjoyable, that pure sound she had in some of her songs in Warmer In the Winter were truly beautiful. That album had a more pure and classical feel and even included sweeping orchestration. Angels We Have Heard on High is one of the most gorgeous things I've heard. Carol of the Bells was also fantastic!

She also has a DVD which I have: Lindsey Stirling: Live from London. I thought the DVD was alright but it didn't blow me away like some of her videos.

I don't have her book: The Only Pirate at the Party (2016).

I haven't seen her live yet. She was close enough last year, but I only had enough time off left for one more show. Sorry Lindsey, but Celtic Woman performers have got priority.

Lindsey's doing a number of shows with Evanescence this year. They're pretty expensive, but I think I can go to one. It's just a question of where. Toronto is closest distance-wise, but getting in and out of that city is a nightmare. I might be able to see her in Georgia if her and Lisa do shows within a few days of each other.

From what I've seen, she's a really down-to-earth girl and like Celtic Woman, she's inspired a lot of people with both her story and her talent.

I like her pop music, but I also really love when she plays classically. I've seen her live with my family, and we were all very impressed by the show. She played and danced non-stop, and she even sang a little. She is incredible. We also watched her on Dancing With the Stars and voted for her every week. We don't typically watch that show, but we watched it for Lindsey. She was great on it!

Yes I have seen her videos and she is unreal. I love Mairead N but I think Lindsey would out do Mairead. Lindsey does solo concerts and fills the house and even red rocks

I can't wait to watch those videos and show them to my sister. She's a huge Lindsey Stirling (and Celtic Woman) fan!
