Celtic Woman 20th Anniversary Tour / Album release date.
« on: August 10, 2023, 07:17:39 PM »
When do we think the album will be out?
In recent years they have had a tendency to have new albums be out before the christmas symphony tour (VoA, Ancient Land, PFI -- though there was no '21 symphony tour) so do we think that'll continue with this one??

Today Mairead Carlin posted on her Instagram stories a photo of sheet music with the names of Brian Byrne as the arranger and the writer Oscar Wilde.

I searched for songs inspired by Oscar Wilde's work and found La Mer (a.k.a. Beyond The Sea in the English adaptation) among them. I could be very mistaken since Beyond The Sea of A New Journey does not mention Wilde directly and I found no other evidence of this relationship online.

So, I summon everyone to be a little detective today and try to find a solution to this quest.

PS: Is Brian Byrne the new Musical Director?? Or is it a collab, maybe... He has a pretty solid and successful career as a composer, I am inquisitive to hear his work on this song, at least.

Oro Se Do Bheatha Bhaile was in a sound bite on Mairead’s Instagram so maybe that’ll be on the album.

Everyone

The Parting Glass
You Raise Me Up (Guarantee)
Amazing Grace

Walk Beside Me (Bonus)
Danny Boy  ..?
You Raise Me Up -- DEFINITELY.
Looking at songs remade for VoA/Homecoming (the last two albums to be chock full of remakes) I expect these songs to be on XX.
*Mo Ghile Mear (either 2016 version or a new version)
*She Moved through the Fair (was also on Emerald -- seems to be a CW favorite though not been performed on tour since VoA)
*Ave Maria -- Almost certain. Originally from the first special and had some rearranging over the years (Chloe's version from Believe is on a multi-artist christmas CD I have that came out the same year as Home for Christmas).
*Dulaman -- who will sing it?? Mairead?? Meav?? Muirgen??
*Teir Abhaile Riu
*Amazing Grace
*Danny Boy -- you can't be a member of Celtic Woman and not record an album/special that Danny Boy is featured on. Another classic from the original special that has stayed with Celtic Woman to this day.

Muirgen is in studio now. New album incoming 🥰🥰

Emma and Muirgen were in the studio today recording some more!
This makes me hope that there's a Muirgen/Emma duet and a Mairéad/Tara duet!
Do we think this album will be all remakes or like voices of angels where it’s a mix

A Christmas Symphony Tour 2023 / Re: Celtic Woman Symphony Tour 2023

As Tracie said, chances are if you want to see a Christmas show, be prepared to travel.  I live in Tampa, FL.  On a regular tour, they usually do 6 or 7 shows in Florida.  I've seen two "local" Christmas shows.  Last year, I went to Ohio to see the Christmas Show.  This year I'm going to Atlanta.  I bought the tickets for that before they announced the show in Daytona Beach.  Thought about going to Daytona also, but it's more driving than I want to do, considering I go to Atlanta a couple days later.  Plus, Atlanta has a M&G!!
The reason I've never travelled is the risk of bad weather (perhaps extended travel time getting to/from the city I'd be going to). When the Magic of Christmas tour came close I was busy the night of so couldn't go.

She was the singer of Cherish the Ladies from 2003-07. How has she never been a Celtic Woman member (even temporarily). She has the voice that she could/should've -- reminds me of Lisa Lambe a little.

I can't wait to hear Mairéad, Tara, Muirgen and Emma together! This is going to be outstanding!
If they had a guest along who would you want.
Probably Éabha, though I feel like Susan would be more likely to show up once or twice.
Remember how Meav would show up often as a sub for a few years? It seems like Susan is the new Meav showing up sporadically (taking Chloe's place on some tour dates, recording Post/Christmas cards from Ireland with the group). It seems very likely that if a 5th person were there it'd be Susan.

I have a feeling for mairead they might have her do Newgrange and then Muirgen doing Dulaman. So many possibilities though!

Makes sense to have Mairead do Newgrange and Nella Fantasia. With Chloe's maturer voice I could see her still do a powerful version of Someday. Muirgen for me would be Down By the Sally Gardens and Ave Maria. These would be fresh for a DVD since Mairead and Muirgen haven't had visual performances of these!

If Meav was guest no doubt would it be iconic to have her visually perform the new Dulaman version for she has done the recording of it first on Voices of Angels! Lynn could be a second frontrunner and Muirgen could then continue it on tour ofc.
Also we must not forget Meav recorded Dulaman on A New Journey so it would be appropriate to have her do it if she were there.

The thing to remember is that with the Christmas tour only being approximately 20 shows and the US being such a large country, it's simply not possible for them to come to every state or to get really close to where every fan lives. For Twin Cities fans, the show in Iowa is a 3 hour drive. That's really darn close considering how big the US is. It's also probably easy for them to rebook with the same orchestras from year to year (Colorado, Utah, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, etc) and unfortunately there's some circumstance that we're unaware of that has them not performing with the Minnesota Orchestra.
Yeah MULTIPLE times I’ve reached out to Minnesota orchestra asking for it and nothing’s happened. Also why don’t they just do what they did in 2019 where they go somewhere that’s not orchestra hall with an orchestra like that one (guessing that one didn’t have a name??)

you guys are all calling for a Minn. show I have been talking with CW for a Wisconsin show we have only had 2 or 3 christmas shows and I can't travel but local to see the Girls. I am waiting for the tickets to go on sale for the show in April here in Wisconsin
You’ve had 2015, 16 & 19 in Milwaukee. Minnesota we’ve had two (2011, 2019) happen, many misses (2013-18, 22) + one (2012) get cancelled. Just like you I have reasons I can’t go out of state to see the show (uncertainty regarding conditions is the big one). My big fear however is when they do come whether or not I’ll be able to go (I was not able to in 2019 — several years prior to 2019 Minn was missed and I got hopeful then that they wouldn’t wait so long to come back). Every year I’m hopeful and then I am crushed by September.  I partially want one this year because I can’t go see Celtic Thunder. Non holiday has been great however although we’ve not gotten an anniversary tour (15 became postcards from Ireland and 10 didn’t come).

I doubt a MN show would be on the 10th because they're in UT on the 11th. Too far apart in distance. MN could still be the 8th or 9th 🤞
Make it happen ladies.

Hi all just saw the email but there will be a show December 5th in Pittsburgh.
Ok so that leaves the entire weekend of the 8th (8th-10th) for a Minnesota date. Come on ladies make it happen. State Theater (where I have attended two past CW shows) is open the 8th and the 10th.

Emma would SMASH Fields of Gold, and seeing Mairéad and Muirgen in the same room makes wonder if they'll do The Last Rose of Summer 🤔

As for songs they haven't done before, I'd LOVE to see Tara perform either The Lonely Shepherd or the theme from Princess Mononoke.
Would Emma do the Eva Cassidy version of Fields of Gold the way Lisa K did??
