Title: 2020 Tour - Celebration: The 15th Anniversary Tour
Post by: Tracie on May 03, 2019, 08:16:07 AM
Last night I Googled Celtic Woman Christmas 2019 just to see if I could find anything in addition to the 3 dates we already know about. I didn't find anything Christmas, but did find a news release for Mahaffey Theater in St Petersburg FL listing Celtic Woman on March 1, 2020! Already time to start keeping an eye out for 2020 dates! I'm already excited and still have 2 more Ancient Land shows this month! According to the news release, tickets for that one go on sale May 10th.

Here's the news release:

https://www.tampabaynewswire.com/2019/05/02/new-shows-announced-for-the-duke-energy-center-for-the-arts-mahaffey-theater-77316

And the listing on the Mahaffey Theater website:

On a Saturday and within reasonable driving distance makes this a highly likely show for me and Gregg! I bet we'll see Glen there!

Alabama PBS is offering meet and greet for two shows - April 16th in Birmingham and April 21st in Huntsville.

This meet and greet offer also tells us the name of the tour! It's Celebration - The 15th Anniversary Tour ❤

A couple of years ago, I would have dreaded this would become another "retreated tour." But the new arrangements of old songs on VoA were really good and the new arrangements of old songs on the Ancient Land tour were phenomenal.

I hope they bring back some old ones we haven't heard in a while with incredible new arrangements and maybe give Amazing Grace and Danny Boy a rest for a while. There are so many other good songs to choose from that haven't been overdone to the point of absurdity.

Several Celebration tour dates loaded into the Celtic Woman website this morning! I'm adding them to our forum calendar now. There are some sizable gaps and a few shows we know of that aren't listed yet, so I think still more to come. Time to contemplate which trips to take!

I found another 2020 show in Burlington, VT!

Fellow Forumites,

Apparently, Mountain Lake PBS is not offering Meet & Greet passes for the March 20, 2020 concert at the Flynn Mainstage, in Burlington, VT.  So, I contacted Vermont PBS, and this is part of their response:  " Yes, we will have Soundcheck Passes available for those who’d like a more VIP experience of the March 20th concert—however please note that Celtic Woman is not doing a traditional meet and greet. The soundcheck experience has replaced that particular part of the show."

Does anyone have any idea what the "sound check experience" would be?  As I understand them, soundchecks occur a couple of hours before the concert.  Would that mean that participants would have to be there several hours before showtime, and then have a few hours to kill before the show starts?  Also, Meet & Greets have become rather rushed and impersonal events.  I would think being at a soundcheck would be even more so because I suspect the Ladies would be pretty busy.

Any information would be greatly appreciated to help me decide whether the additional money for "the soundcheck experience" would be worth it.

Thanks,

Bob

This is the first I've heard of a soundcheck experience, so I don't know what it is, but am intrigued to find out more info. I do know a few other PBS stations already offering meet and greet, or at least what they're labeling as meet and greet. I would really miss getting to talk to the ladies and have pictures taken with their gorgeous dresses if they have changed the format.

What I have seen other artists do is that they do a sound check 2 hours before the doors open or 3 hours before the show starts...sometimes these packages also include dinner/drinks at the venue prior to gates opening and before the show. I am sure a description of this VIP package should be available somewhere either on Ticketmaster or the venue's website.

Thanks. I don't think they will though. Usually when it comes to Roanoke or Salem, they would've added it by now if they were gonna come.

Got my priority tickets for PPAC in Providence, R,I. March 26th......second row(pit)......taking my neighbor`s 16 year old daughter, Sasha, with me. I take her to and from school every day and she hears CW daily in the car and really likes them. she`s like the daughter I never had,  so I`m treating her to a show...a.k.a. "Spoil a Kazackh" , its where she was born , came here as an infant. She is now the "Keltic Kazackh" .

yes, Sasha has become a CW fan through "osmosis" since she hears the cd`s twice a day in my car,, so now instead of her listening to me go on and on about CW, she`ll get to experience it for herself. I`m also teaching her to drive....on the way home from the high school, I stop a couple of streets away"okay, switch" and she drives us home...at like 7 mph. I call it "kazackh at the Kontrols" ;D

My tickets for the CW show next March arrived in todays mail! Ordered them Mon. and I already have them in hand. They don`t even go on sale to the general public until Oct. 18th.....but since I go to every CW show at PPAC, I get "priority" offers.

Since my local PBS station had no idea what was going on,I went ahead and bought a ticket for Lakeland (pit seats are always good!).   I already have several people joining me a couple days later in St. Pete.

On a somewhat unrelated note, do the girls get frequently "bus" miles?  At least here in Florida they seem to criss cross the state a couple times!!!

Lakeland is within the Tampa PBS sphere (WEDU).  In the past, they have offered M&G's at Lakeland, Tampa, St Petersburg and Sarasota.  I've talked to them -- they said nothing will be announced until their pledge drive in December.  They don't know where their seats are -- it's up to the venue.

I miss the old days when a M&G got you front row.

Any chance they will come to Europe for the 15th Anniversary Tour as well? Most of the time they come to Europe every 2 years. But i would love to see them more often! :) Especially with a special tour like this one. I'm so curious about the songs!

We here on the forum often find out about things they have planned before the official announcements get made. If we find out anything about Europe, we'll certainly post it! Hope they do a Europe Celebration tour for you!

This Celebration tour thread goes back to May. When Gregg and I talked to the ladies in Antwerp yesterday (more to come on that!), they were legitimately shocked when we said that we already had Celebration tour tickets, and even more so that we started buying them months ago. Mairead said they didn't even know what their schedule was looking like yet and had just been given it in the past few days. That was really interesting to hear. We explained how some venues list the shows and put the tickets on sale really far in advance. This was one bit of a quite lengthy conversation that we had with the four of them yesterday. 😃

In all honesty, this doesn't really surprise me. As Tracie said, many venues sell their tickets months in advance. I get emails asking me if I want to purchase tickets for events happening in December 2020 right now! All of the really big shows (Broadway musicals, local orchestra concerts, etc) are always planned months in advance. In addition to giving fans plenty of time to get tickets, it also gives the arts associations plenty of time to sell tickets or to use them as local media giveaways (as prizes for radio shows or news programs, etc), as well as gives the association plenty of time to advertise.

No offense meant to the girls in any way, but they don't really need to know as early. The CW production teams need to know first so they can plan out a stage design, choreo, wardrobe, etc. In all honesty, the actual performers are typically the last people to know in any production.
