Somebody reverted the change, so the page is back up for now. Enjoy it while you can.  >:(

Well, that didn't take long.

They deleted the page without any explanation.

That's it, folks. I'm done with Wikipedia and all their garbage. Not creating or editing anything else. Somebody else can maintain their content.

The Magic of Christmas 2019 Tour / The Magic of Christmas Wikipedia Page
« on: November 01, 2019, 09:26:58 PM »
I created a Wikipedia page for Celtic Woman: The Magic of Christmas and linked to it from:
  • The main Celtic Woman Wikipedia page
  • The Ancient Land page (since The Magic of Christmas is the album that follows Ancient Land in sequence of release)

I'll add chart information once it's available.

The article is pretty bare bones at the moment and it will need additional independent sources or it will get taken down.

If anyone has any suggestions for article content or notices any mistakes (I'm sure there are a few), please let me know. Remember, pretty much everything posted on Wikipedia needs to have a verifiable independent source, so stuff we "know" but can't reference appropriately isn't eligible.

Ancient Land on Tour / Re: European Tour Video Thread!
« on: October 31, 2019, 08:03:12 PM »
There are spoilers re: the videos in the discussion below

Orinoco Flow: Definitely missing Mairead's voice, but it's still incredible they got it to sound so good with only 2 singers.

Bean Phaidin: Interesting. They didn't try to fill in the vocals for Mairead's parts. They just had Tara play the melody on the violin where Mairead would normally sing. If you hadn't seen the show before, you might not realize anything was out of the ordinary and doing it that way was certainly less risky than someone trying to learn Mairead's part on extremely short notice. It did seem awkward to me, but only because I know Mairead's supposed to be singing those parts. Overall, well done.

Ballroom of Romance: Megan was singing Mairead's parts. This one is fascinating in that it shows how much practice it takes to sound so amazing. It was definitely a struggle hitting some of those notes without having practiced them much. It makes me appreciate even more how much effort must go goes into perfecting these songs so they sound so fantastic (and practically flawless) on stage.

I love this album more and more each time I listen.

I haven't started playing my other Celtic Woman Christmas material yet this year, but this one is a serious contender for my favorite Christmas album. This one might even be top 2 along with Ancient Land.

Ancient Land on Tour / Re: Susan filling in for Mairead Carlin
« on: October 30, 2019, 04:58:17 PM »
Karsten went to the show in

Halle/Saale in Germany on Monday.

Susan of course was filling in for Mairead. Susan sang her Voices of Angel's tour solos: She Moved Thru the Fair (dancing with Carl) and The Voice. The rest of the set list was similar to the north american Ancient Land tour except that Mairead's solos were omitted and Megan sang Over the Rainbow as a solo (it was apparently very impressive).

I like the photos. I can get them to blend with the rest of the background of the button, but it will be a few days before I'll have time to play around with them.

Tom these photos are lightened as my Kodak photo printer darkens them up when printed so what you see in the background goes away when printed so the printed photos look much better then what you see in these photos

Ok. Cool!

Chloë released her album Reimagined on Indiegogo today for those who pledged a sufficient amount to her campaign!

While I'm sure everyone's eager to hear about and discuss the album, please keep in mind that Chloë let us hear the album early as a courtesy. The album had not yet released to the general public, so please don't post the track list, any track names, or anything else that might spoil the surprise. The album can be discussed after it had been released officially by Chloë.

General reactions are fine, but no specifics please.

Thanks everyone and enjoy the album.

Ancient Land on Tour / Re: Susan filling in for Mairead Carlin
« on: October 27, 2019, 08:30:38 PM »
Speaking of thread, I have been staring at the August page of my calendar and today's Facebook post, and I believe Susan is actually wearing the same blue dress that Mairead has been wearing since Johnstown Castle.  But the height of the dress looks good on Susan, which make think that maybe Louisa quickly redid the hem to make it a bit longer.

Clever segue.

Ancient Land on Tour / Susan filling in for Mairead Carlin
« on: October 27, 2019, 03:29:31 PM »
Mairead Carlin had wasn't feeling well and had to leave the stage after the 1st act on October 23 in Zurich, Switzerland. It was the first time since she joined Celtic Woman she wasn't able to complete a show due to illness.

Megan, Eabha, and Tara completed the show without Mairead. Megan sang Mairead's parts. Tara reportedly sang some of the parts into her violin mic to fill out the harmony.

Mairead wasn't able to perform in Budapest on October 25 either.

It turned out she had appendicitis.

Mairead had surgery and is recovering but will need to take some time away from the Ancient Land tour for a while.

Susan flew to Vienna, Austria and will fill in for Mairead starting October 27, 2019.

Wishing Mairead a speedy and successful recovery.

I went with:

Auld Lang Syne
Amid the Falling Snow
Dia Do Bheatha

It was a really tough decision between Dia Do Bheatha and O Holy Night. I loved both, but Dia Do Bheatha was really fun and something I've never heard before. O Holy Night could have had a bigger climax, I suppose, so I didn't pick it in my top 3.

It was an even tougher call with O Come, O Come Emmanuel for top 3. That arrangement was amazing! Dia Do Bheatha was just soooo fun to listen to!

Órlagh Fallon / Re: Album: A Winter's Tale
« on: October 25, 2019, 08:55:41 PM »
I just finished listening to Orla's new album A Winter's Tale!

Track List:

1. Codail A Linbh
2. Away In A Manger / Si Bheag Si Mhor
3. In Dulci Jubilo / Sgt. Cahill's Favorite
4. Pat A Pan / Noel Nouvelet
5. Eleanor Plunkett
6. Don Oiche Ud I mBeithil
7. Carol of the Bells / The Angel Gabriel
8. O Little Town of Bethlehem
9. The Holly Bears A Berry/Craigburn Wood
10. O Holy Night
11. Blind Mary
12. Auld Lang Syne

Thoughts

It's similar in style to her other Christmas albums: immensely soothing and pretty.

All the songs are nice. O Holy Night, O Little Town of Bethlehem, and Auld Lang Syne were some of my favorites. There are quite a few medleys on the album. One that stood out was The Holly Bears A Berry/Craigburn Wood, which had some nice vocal harmony (without instrumental backing).

I enjoyed it!
