Nothing in the South; think Florida, Georgia, etc.

Guess I have to consider more travel costs if I want to go.

I had the opportunity to attend a M&G with him last year while they were on tour.  Good luck to him!

A Christmas Symphony Tour 2025 / Re: 2025 Christmas Symphony Tour

I've always wondered about what the ladies do when they are not touring.  Does CW pay them enough that they don't need another "full time" job and they can just do some one-off shows?

Celtic Woman / Re: Merch from ex-CW?

Maybe 2 years ago I went to a concert Chloe was doing.  She had a small selection of merch there.  Haven't seen anything on line.   I also have a tee shirt from one of Lisa Kelly's shows.

Spring Tour 2025 / Re: Tour announcement guesses.

I thought I saw that Lisa was doing a show somewhere in Ireland in maybe March (I know, I'm being vague because I'm not going back to look).  When I saw that, I kinda thought that seeing Lisa on the Christmas tour was a one off.  If she's doing something in, say March, does that give her enough time to practice?

Muirgen O'Mahony / Re: Muirgen can use our help
« on: January 18, 2025, 09:59:07 AM »
I've been to two of Lisa's Masterclasses.  I was a pretty decent vocalist in high school, and probably should have continued in college.  However, if I joined the marching band, I got a tuition reduction.  That was more important at the time.

Anyway, Lisa's class was fun.  Yes, I even learned a few things, which of course I promptly forgot as soon as we broke into small groups!

On some level, I'd like to sing more, but know it really won't happen.  Would I do a Muirgen class?  Sure.  Will I? Probably not unless it's an in-person thing.

Forum Questions & Comments / Re: Merry Christmas all and 2024 in review

S
Some thoughts about your post concerning the forum.  I'm sure some people will take offense to my post, but I’ve seen some similar postings on other forums.

As we all know, the internet is constantly evolving and not always for the better!  I saw my first CW concert in 2007 based on seeing them on PBS.  It took about 2 years until I figured out there was such a thing as a Meet & Greet.  That’s about the time I discovered “forums”.   This was also, IIRC, that Facebook started becoming more popular.   Anyway, for a number of years, forums were the way to get information.  It’s not any more.

As we wall know, there is now a huge amount of information available on-line, and a lot of it is pushed to you.  So, the question is do we really even need forums anymore?

My thought is yes.  One ongoing problem is what happened to the CWF.com.  Forums are typically ran by one or two people.  When something happens, the forum mostly dies.  Yes, the same thing can happen with a Facebook group, but they seem to reach a lot more people, and sometimes have multiple administrators.

I still try to check the forum every day.

One other thing to keep in mind.  Like a lot of groups, Celtic Woman has changed over the years.  If you count the Lisa Kelly and Chloe Agnew individual shows, I’ve been to something over 100 shows.  Keeping in mind most of them required traveling, I’ve probably spent close to $1,000 a show (air fare, hotels, car rental, etc).  Do I regret it?  No.  I had a blast doing it.  Will I continue?  Not so much.  Maybe 2 or 3 a year.  It doesn’t have the same feel as it did.  Kind of the same thing with the forum.

Anyway, thanks Glen for what you are doing.

A Christmas Symphony Tour 2024 / Re: Christmas Tour Meet and Greets! (2024)

I decided I would go to the show in Washington, DC.  Got M&G from CW.  2nd row tickets for $100.  Hotels are generally high, especially since I didn't want to rent a car.

Then, of course, Lisa Kelly announced her Masterclass for Sunday, 12/14.  Luckily, my DC show was Friday night, so decided to fly to Atlanta Saturday night, especially since she's starting her class at 11:00.

Busy 5 days.

Lisa Kelly / Masterclass 2024
« on: December 01, 2024, 08:13:48 AM »
So I went to Lisa's Masterclass last year and had a great time!  I also went to the CW concert in Atlanta.  They were a week apart, so I did a lot of driving back and forth from Florida.  I decided to go see CW in Washington DC this year, partially so we could see the Christmas lights.

About a week after I bought tickets, Lisa announced she was doing a Masterclass again the same weekend.  Part of it was probably because Chloe was doing a show in Atlanta also.  Dang.  Neither one had a huge amount of notice.

So, what's another plane ticket!  Flying to DC, then flying to Atlanta, then flying home.  Going to be an interesting couple of days (Thursday thru Monday).

So, anyone else going to the class?

Ticket prices are all over the place.  I'm going to the CW concert in Washington DC in a couple weeks.  Tickets were $95 and I am in the second row.  I spend $150 last year for the regular tour.  Maybe some of it is due to the size of the venue?  You said 5100.  That's a pretty decent size venue.  I'll say Kennedy Center is maybe similar?  But most of the tour shows are in the 2500 range.

A Christmas Symphony Tour 2024 / Re: White Christmas Symphony Tour 2024

rfcw made some comments about the tours in general in Florida.  My thoughts.

Since 2009, I've been to 32 shows in Florida.  Most were in the Tampa area (that's where I live).  5 were in Lakeland.  A couple of times that was the first show on the tour.  6 were in Orlando.  A few in Daytona, a few in Fort Myers.

A lot of my tickets I bought thru the local PBS station; primarily to get the M&G.  That MAY have had some input in deciding what cities to go to.  It seems like CW is cutting out the PBS stations now.  I know a couple years ago that my local PBS station rep told me they were not going to participate any more since they were having issues with the venues.  The venues did not want to allow PBS to get front row seats -- the venue wanted to sell them directly to their season ticket holders.

I had tried to made a comment on a previous post, but it didn't work.

Concerning Florida and Christmas shows, I went to 2.  In 2011 they were in Clearwater and in 2015 they were in St Petersburg

They are coming nowhere even remotely near me,

This is nothing uncommon, but man Florida must be going thru withdrawals with no shows there at all and you know I think this tour was the smallest show count with only 78 shows if I remember right the show count has been in the mid 80's to low 90's

Florida in regarding to Symphony Tours..

So I went back to my concert list and found I went to a Christmas show in Florida in 2011 and 2015.  Nothing since, and I most probably would have gone just about anywhere in Florida

I don't recall Florida ever having one or else it's how I see it because as a Floridian
never is there a chance for me to have a close chance at attending a Symphony show yet less a regular Celtic Woman
show.

Lisa Lambe / Re: Welcome back Lisa Lambe.
« on: October 01, 2024, 09:01:13 AM »
YEAH.  I have tickets to one of the shows in Washington DC and a Meet & Greet.   This is one of those really expensive shows, considering travel, etc.

I had met LL a number of times during her previous tours with CW.  Always friendly and outgoing.  She was involved with a Broadway show David Downes was trying to put together years ago.  I had tickets for the opening night of the show, but they canceled it prior to opening.  Always wanted to see her again.

Celtic Woman: The Original Show / Re: Happy 20th Anniversary!
« on: September 15, 2024, 06:02:47 PM »
Lots of memories.

Been to 7 shows at Red Rocks.  That has to be a high point.  Depending on who's survey, it's the best venue in the world.  I think it was in 2009 that they did the second verse to YRMU.  That was incredible.

6 shows at Radio City.  First was 2008.  All with my daughter.  Met all the girls there.

First time I met Chloe was in 2009 in Fort Myers, FL.  From that point on, she recognized me.

I really don't want to think about how much money I spent traveling all over the county.
