Fun and Games / Re: Quarantuning
« on: March 23, 2020, 10:35:50 AM »
My family decided to do some cleaning around the house today and we discovered about 15 CW Albums and DVDs in the drawer where we used to keep all the CDs in our house. We decided to watch/listen to all of them over the quarantine period.

Today we started off with the “Emerald: Musical Gems” DVD. I would love to upload a video I took but apparently it’s too large for the server to handle.

My parents and I were considering flying over

Are you currently living in Thailand?  That would be quite the journey!

Yes, it is quite a trip from Thailand to Ireland. But my parents and I are willing to go since this summer will most likely be the last time I’ll be able to travel abroad for a while. I’ve got my GCSEs coming up in June next year so from August onwards I’ll be spending most of my time revising for exams and doing coursework for school.

Will the shows in Killarney still be happening August 7-9 this year? My parents and I were considering flying over to watch it if it is still on.

I've got one!

Why were the singers locked out of their dressing room?

They missed the key change!

"Is it in my hair?"
Mairead C after getting pooped on by a bird at Disney world! 🤣🤣 That video is legendary!

I'm not overly superstitious but this Friday the 13th sucked beyond anything I had imagined.
Agreed. In my opinion, this was the second-worst 13th I’ve ever experienced next to the 13th of October 2016.
(Anyone from Thailand knows the reason for that day... 😭)

Celtic Culture / Uilliean pipe or hurdy-gurdy?
« on: March 05, 2020, 09:02:49 AM »
Does anyone have any tips in telling an uillean pipe and a hurdy-gurdy apart from each other? I’m studying Afro-Celt Sound System’s “Release” as part of my set work for GCSE music and none of my friends can tell the difference.

I found a comment on YouTube with the translation for the Elvish part:
"Together let's go to the mounds of green fields,
Together let's go west to some fields of youth
Together let's go to the mounds of green fields
West to some fields of youth."

I hope that answered your question! ;D

New Members / A little introduction to myself…
« on: March 02, 2020, 08:25:25 AM »
Hello! Since I’m new to the Celtic Woman Forum, I think it’s only right that I introduce a bit of myself to everyone.

My name is Penny. I’m from Thailand, so I think that makes me the first Thai person on this forum? As for my age… I’ll just tell you this: I was born the year CW released their debut CD.

I’ve been listening to CW’s songs for as long as I can remember. My dad is also a fan of CW and he bought the DVD for “A New Journey” when it was released in 2007. He played it at home, and I loved it so much I watched it over and over again. We later managed to buy the “Songs of the Heart” DVD when it was released and also the “A Christmas Celebration” DVD, which we would play at Christmas. To this day, these three albums are still in my house. Unfortunately my dad’s started falling short of CW’s albums in recent years, the latest CW CD we have is Voices of Angels.

This is my first time ever joining a forum, by the way. I’m really excited to get to know everyone here!
