So I went to Lisa's Masterclass last year and had a great time! I also went to the CW concert in Atlanta. They were a week apart, so I did a lot of driving back and forth from Florida. I decided to go see CW in Washington DC this year, partially so we could see the Christmas lights.
About a week after I bought tickets, Lisa announced she was doing a Masterclass again the same weekend. Part of it was probably because Chloe was doing a show in Atlanta also. Dang. Neither one had a huge amount of notice.
So, what's another plane ticket! Flying to DC, then flying to Atlanta, then flying home. Going to be an interesting couple of days (Thursday thru Monday).
So, anyone else going to the class?

So just saw Mairead's A Celtic Summer Night is coming to Tampa, Florida on August 31 at 8:00. No idea how to add it to the calendar. It's at The Centro Asturiano de Tampa. This is an old, but really interesting venue in the Ybor City area. I've seen some shows there. Typically, it's open seating in one of 3 price ranges. If the show is predominately music, I usually sit in the upper level. Even front row isn't really close to the stage.

Since the Board has been fairly quiet, found this in my old phone photos. And yes, I probably still have it someplace. From 2009 at Radio City.

In the New Members section, someone made a comment asking who was on your Mount Rushmore of CW. I thought that was a great question, and deserved it's own thread.
So, for me it's: Chloe Lisa K Lisa L Mairead N

So I'm going to go to the show in Cincinnati. (Business trip scheduling!!). Anyway, the Aronoff Center web site does show good tickets. It has a place for a Promo Code. I've haven't been able to find one anywhere. Does anyone know if there is one available?

So, I'm recovering from a computer issue. Ended up having to have a new hard drive installed, which, of course, required updating some software (which I try very hard NOT to do!)
Anyway, using Google Chrome, I'm getting a message that this website is unsafe because it can't prove it is CelticWomanForum.net. I click on the proceed anyway button, and then confirm again and it let's me in.
Not sure exactly what the issue is.

So I was finally able to attend one of Lisa Kelly's Masterclasses on Saturday, the 16th. Of course, it just so happened to be the day after Chloe did a concert just down the road in Fayetteville. 2 things on one trip!
I had not sang since high school (and that was a looonnng time ago). Having said that, had a great time. Both Lisa and Chloe were great instructors. There were about 30 people there. We learned multiple songs, including one in Gallic. That was, shall we say, interesting. We did not do any of what you would consider traditional (US) Christmas songs. We did do In the Bleak Midwinter, which I had heard, but really didn't pay attention to the words.
Most fun was something called Fairytale of New York. This is supposedly the most popular Christmas song in Ireland. Anything that starts out "It was Christmas Eve babe, In the drunk tank .." ranks right up there. Lisa said she did not print the 2nd verse for us, since it has some offensive language.
They gave us some tips on how to breathe better when singing, when to breathe, etc. I'll probably never use these tips, but it was still really fun and interesting.
If you get a chance, GO TO ONE. I know I'll try to do another one.

An opportunity arose to get out of town the weekend of December 10th. So, bought a ticket to see Chloe in North Georgia on the 11th. According to Google, it's only 1-1/2 hours from the Atlanta airport. Since Atlanta has a lot of flights to a lot of places, CW is in New Philadelphia, Ohio on the 13th. That's doable either by driving or flying. Only real issue is the selection of seats isn't great.

So I reached out to my local PBS station early today about tickets. I just got a response saying the 2023 tour has been postponed until 2024.
Anyone else heard anything like this?

So I went to the Atlanta Pops show featuring John Driskell Hopkins and CHLOE AGNEW on Sunday. Overall, I really enjoyed the concert. Some new, updated arrangements of old Christmas songs.
Going back to the 1970's, one of the greatest female singers was Karen Carpenter. I have a couple of her records. She did a song called Merry Christmas Darling. Chloe did that song Sunday night! When I got home last night, I dug out the Karen Carpenter record and listened to her doing that song. OMG, Chloe's version was eerily close to Karen's. I loved it!!

So last night (Monday), I noticed my local PBS station was playing the Ancient Land show. Didn't know it was pledge week, but what the heck, watch it anyway. Maybe they have a good deal on tickets for the upcoming tour. (I already have tickets, but you never know).
Anyway, when they cut away to the pledge section, it was a recorded spiel for CELTIC THUNDER! Hope you are enjoying the show; the guys will be here in a couple months, etc.

So I just bought a couple tickets for the show in Daytona Beach. The CW tour site links to TicketMonster. I paid $166 per ticket for 4th row. I have tickets (from 2 years ago) for the show in St Pete, FL. Those were (and still are) only $85 each.
Anyone else notice a discrepancy in price?

So I was considering trying to go to Mairead's show in Tallahassee on April 1. It's only a 4 hour drive, and $60 is OK for a ticket. However, and maybe it's because I'm an old guy, I was having issues with the venue's web site. I understand the whole "social distance" means certain seats are blocked off. OK, where is my seat? Their seat map doesn't seem to either allow you to pick your seat or show the "best available". If I'm spending the time and money to go (and the legislature is in session so hotel rooms are nuts), I'd at least like a good seat.
