I wonder if we should have an Other Musicians board or something similar?
We all love Celtic Woman, but I'm sure there's some other good non-CW-related music / musicians worth sharing too that not everyone may know about yet.
Some of the other forums gave this a try (ie. Chloë's forum).
If we don't need a separate board, we could also do threads in the General Discussion board, but having threads and posts all over the place for this kind of stuff on the old CW forum was tough to follow. Boards help organize things and find them a little more effectively.

I'm a CW lightweight. But at least I have some cool-looking tables, right? On November 17, 2017, Jason Tonioli released an album called Favorite Hymns, featuring CaraNua! Here's some information about the album and where you can get it: https://tonioli.com/product/favorite-hymns-caranua-jason-tonioli/Pre-Order:There was a pre-order available through Jason's site offering signed copies. Jason and the girls sounded hopeful that Alex, Lynn, and Edel might be able to sign them too. In the end they ended up just being signed by Jason. I guess I'll have to get CaraNua to sign my copy in person when I finally, one day, get to meet them. Album Cover:I really like the album cover. I like the choice of colors and it has kind of a soothing quality to it. I originally thought this was a picture from Utah, where the album was recorded. But it looks like it might actually be an image from New Hampshire: Notes About the AlbumThe album features a full orchestra, with the involvement of Chuck E. Myers who has helped with music for Disney, Sony, Warner Brothers, on projects like Cars 3, Toy Story 2&3, Star Wars, etc. On Jason's site, it mentions: This is the first time that former lead singers of Celtic Woman have come together to collaborate on a project since performing with Celtic Woman. It's true that when lead performers leave Celtic Woman, they tend to go their separate ways. But they have collaborated on projects prior to this - Meav was one of Orla's special guests in "Orla Fallon's Celtic Christmas" DVD - Side-note: If you look closely, I'm pretty sure Eabha's in the Anuna choir during Away In A Manger - Lisa Kelly and Chloë have done a number of shows together (including several in Peachtree City, GA) Track List1. Amazing Grace (Featuring CaraNua) ................................... 5:59 2. All Creatures of Our God and King (Featuring CaraNua) ..... 4:38 3. How Great Thou Art (Featuring Lynn Hilary) ......................... 4:57 4. Beautiful Savior (Featuring CaraNua) .................................. 3:08 5. Be Thou My Vision (Featuring CaraNua) .............................. 4:06 6. Come Follow Me (Featuring Alex Sharpe) ............................ 3:27 7. Let the Lower Lights Be Burning (Featuring CaraNua) ........ 6:21 8. Nearer My God To Thee (Featuring Edel Murphy) ............... 5:04 9. Going Home (Featuring CaraNua) ....................................... 4:30 10. Till We Meet Again (instrumental) ...................................... 3:53 My ThoughtsSPOILERS BELOW. . . . . The album was beautifully arranged, deeply moving, and tremendously satisfying! The songs are soft and soothing. The harmony was crystal clear and quite frankly, breathtaking. CaraNua or its members are featured on every track except the last one, which is a pleasant instrumental. The instrumental backing, mostly piano with a touch of orchestration, really compliments their voices. There are some really nice instrumental bridges in some of the songs. Lynn's solo 'How Great Thou Art' is one of the best Lynn Hilary solos I have ever heard. WOW!!! Edel's solo is 'Nearer My God To Thee' and it is both lovely and haunting. I was kind of hoping for a three-part harmony with this one, but considering how gorgeous Edel sounded, I have no complaints whatsoever. I loved the little Titanic Easter egg near the end! This album is really well done and I thoroughly enjoyed it! . . . . . SPOILERS ABOVE

I thought I had posted a review or story about this but if I did, I can't find it. So I'll see how good my memory is after a year and a half. A few stars had to align for this show... The Long and Winding RoadAugust 28, 2016, in Shelbyville, Indiana, was the first time I ever saw Chloë Agnew perform live. It was also the first time I met anyone from Celtic Woman (my very first Meet and Greet! I had missed soooo many chances to see her when she was with Celtic Woman and those regrets will always haunt me. But 2016 was the year I started making up for lost time and making some of my dearest dreams come true. As I alluded to in my Home for Christmas post, while 2016 was a year where my life more or less finally turned around, it was still quite a bumpy ride. After Chloë and her friends had sang The Rose for me, I knew I had to finally go see her live and meet her. Were it not for that YouTube video, I probably wouldn't have gone to see her (certainly not as far as I did) and I'm not sure what the second half of that year would have been like. It probably would not have been pleasant for me. Originally, Chloë had posted on her site that she would be doing a show in Detroit later in that year, 2016. I kept waiting for tickets to become available, but I guess it didn't work out, because it eventually got replaced with a show in Pittsburgh that same date. All the people I was originally going to go see the show with in Detroit bailed on me when the show got moved, making it too far for me to travel on my own in uncertain winter road conditions. Until the Home for Christmas show later that year, I had never gone to any show on my own. I was devastated that I would have to go another year without seeing Chloë after getting my hopes so high. I love all the performers that have ever been in Celtic Woman, but Chloë is one of my absolute favourites. She posted another show, in Indiana. It would be a pretty long drive (almost 8 hours), but at least it was in August so the roads would be fine. At that time, I couldn't really drink caffeine and any more than 4-5 hours on the road (even with stops) starts to get incredibly dangerous for me. I start getting groggy, not notice important things when driving, and I could even suddenly nod off without any way to stop it. I didn't want to get my hopes up again, but I posted about it on Facebook to see if anyone was interested in going with me. Fortunately, one of my friends stepped up. He had someone bail on him at the last minute on a sports-related road trip he already had tickets for, so we could both help each other make our plans work out. So on about a months notice, we got everything planned and I finally had tickets to see Chloë Agnew! He was not a Celtic Woman fan. At all. He had never heard of them and it wasn't the type of music he would think to or want to listen to. I tried to bring him up to speed on the group and especially on Chloë in the weeks that lead up to the show. I did more or less a whole series of emails, explaining the history of the group, some of their best songs, and about Chloë (before, during, after her time with Celtic Woman). To be honest, I don't think he was really interested in it or comfortable talking about it. I don't think watched many of those videos i sent, but he was nice about it at least. I was already going to be a long drive, but it became even longer with construction delays and when my friend realized he had left his passport at home about an hour into the drive. We tried to turn around, but there was construction in the opposite direction and it ended up adding almost 3 hours to our already long drive. The good thing was that one the way, I started playing my Celtic Woman CDs and Chloë CDs for him ( couldn't get away on a highway, could you buddy ). He liked Chloë's voice, but most of her recorded work is slow and soft, which isn't his thing. He was really into Eabha's voice though. In fact, he liked it so much, I actually got him to come to a Voices of Angels concert the next year and he brought some of his other friends! The drive was really long and my GPS got lost somewhere in Indiana and wouldn't route properly anymore. We eventually got to where we needed to get, but it was WAY closer than I was hoping. We almost got killed a few times on the highway a few times too. We got to the hotel in Shelbyville just over an hour before the Meet and Greet started. At least we made it, though. Meeting ChloëWe had trouble parking near the venue. I don't remember exactly what happened, but it cost us a bit more time. By the time we got to the Meet and Greet, there were already about 40 people in line, so we were near the back. The Meet and Greet was inside the theatre, in front of the stage, so we were lined up along the right wall. I rushed out of the line for a moment to check at the merch table, but I already had everything there (I had gotten it through one of Chloë's online StageIt shows earlier in the year). I had forgotten to bring her CDs and DVD for her to sign. I figured there would be something new there. I wasn't quite thinking clearly, so I didn't end up grabbing a poster from the venue for her to sign (more on that later). Chloë came out a few minutes after we got there. My heart was really beating like crazy. I was about to meet one of my favourite singers in the world and I am just horribly awkward in person, especially when it comes to talking. What if I messed up this chance after waiting for soooo long? As it came to my turn in line, I was super-excited, but really nervous too. She meant the world to me, but would she even recognize me or care who I was? Surely she had many more significant fans. As soon as I got tickets to the show, I had started changing my profile pic on social media to an actual pic of me. Prior to that, I didn't use actual pictures of myself as I was self-conscious and not in a particularly good place mentally. But before 2016, I had almost no public presence on social media whatsoever and was pretty sure Chloë would have no idea who I was unless I showed her what I looked like. Chloë sometimes isn't the most communicative on social media though, so I really had no idea if she had even seen any of my posts to her that I was coming to the show. Finally, it was my turn to see her! She smiled at me and I ran over to her in a way that must have looked like an excited little child on Christmas morning. She greeted me by name, so she DID recognize me! I was so surprised, every last thought of what I wanted to say to her just slipped away. I gave her a great big hug and it was seriously one of the happiest moments of my life. <3 One of my fears did end up coming true. My high degree of social anxiety ended up showing itself. I could barely speak at all. Most of the time, I just ended up smiling at her awkwardly as she talked. She thanked me for coming, asked me how far I'd traveled and was impressed when I told her. She said she was really grateful that I came and to finally meet me. I have no idea how I wasn't crying all over the floor by that point, but I just kept smiling at her awkwardly while she did her best to fill the silence. LOL! She was so sweet! I got to take some pictures with her. The ones from this first Meet and Greet I wasn't terribly thrilled with, but I learned a lot that I could apply to my subsequent Meet and Greets. I awkwardly gave her the gifts I had brought her. There was a custom card I made her. It had taken a while as it was the first one I had done, but it turned out great! At least I had had the presence to realize in advance I wouldn't be able to say all the things I wanted to, about how grateful I was to her and how much her music had meant to me over the years. The gift bag also contained some yummy treats for her and a special surprise that had arrived literally the day before. #nailbiter I got her to sign my ticket since that's pretty much the only thing I had with me. I hugged her again (her hugs are AMAZING) and then took a seat in the 4 rows closest to the stage, which were reserved for people who got Meet and Greet tickets. After the end of the Meet and Greet line, Chloë did a Q+A up on stage and gave us Meet-and-Greeters an exclusive pre-show song. I can't remember if I asked anything during the Q+A. After that, she went back stage for a bit and they opened the theatre to the regular ticket holders. Then, at last, it was finally time to see my first ever Chloë concert! Stay tuned for Part 2, which I'll probably tomorrow. Thanks for reading so far!

This St. Patrick's Day, March 17, marks the two year anniversary of the first Celtic Woman concert I ever saw. Things had been getting worse and worse for quite a long time and by December of 2015 I was in a pretty sorry state of mind. I tuned into the Destiny PBS special almost by accident. I didn't even know it was on until I stumbled across it in the listings and started watching 8 minutes after it started. That special aired at the time when I needed it the most, so it had a profound impact on me. I absolutely fell in love with My Land and Westering Home and I couldn't stop playing them. During the special, they showed some of the upcoming tour dates, including the shows on the Christmas tour that year. I saw that one of the shows was in my hometown. I didn't go to concerts then (it had probably been 15 years since I had been to one and I just didn't feel like doing much of anything). But I loved Destiny so much that I got interested. I checked if there were any tickets left for that show, but it was sold out. I actually wasn't even going to go see Destiny, but I was so obsessed with the music that I shared it with my family over the Christmas holidays. That was really the first time in a long time (probably since 2007) I had even mentioned it to someone. Celtic Woman was just one of my secret loves, I suppose. Some people in my family liked it. Not quite as I did, but enough that it got their interest. They could see how happy Celtic Woman was making me, so they suggested that we go to together to see a nearby show on the upcoming Destiny tour. I was a bit skeptical at the time. While I was excited about finally seeing them, I was also pretty worried. From my limited past experience at concerts, my impression was that music rarely sounds as good live as it does on an album or a DVD. I was scared that if I saw them and I didn't love them as much live, it would destroy the bubble of joy that they had finally created for me. At the time, that would have been incredibly dangerous, since I didn't love anything more than them and their beautiful harmony. While I loved the music, I didn't follow the performers as closely then as I do today. I knew the group had changed considerably over time though. I didn't know how the other fans were going to react to Destiny. It was so different than the group's previous work. Not all my family members reacted positively to Destiny. I read a few reviews, but I must have encountered a bad selection of them from disenchanted long-time fans (and some ill-informed fans), because they weren't encouraging. As silly as it may sound that was really the moment that changed my life. As scared as I was that the "live experience" wouldn't meet my expectations, I grew terrified that if I didn't see them on the Destiny tour, I might never get another chance to see them. It was at that moment that I realized that Celtic Woman wasn't just a group I liked, it was one of the most important things in my life. I decided I had to go see them and support them, no matter what. On March 17, 2016, I saw Destiny in Detroit. The excitement of finally getting to see them had been gradually pulling me out of an extended depression. When they finally came out on to the stage, I just started crying. Destiny was more than I could have dreamed of. I loved every moment, even more than the PBS special! They all looked so lovely and sounded gorgeous beyond words. I was seated in the first few rows (third or fourth, I think) to the left side of the stage (to the right for the girls as they faced the audience). The audience was pretty reserved, I thought. I started clapping along to When You Go (I think I was so excited I started clapping to Ride On too ). I was sensing the people beside me thought there was something wrong with me, but I didn't really care. I lip-sync'd along to most of the songs. The girls seemed to appreciate it and that made me feel really great, like I was finally giving back to the group that, over time, had come to mean to world to me. The theater was probably about half full. I was actually really surprised there were that few people for a show on St. Patrick's Day. But then again, as I had gone through had times in the preceding years, so too had the city of Detroit. The audience that was there was pretty reserved. There was a decent amount of clapping along during Mairead Nesbitt's songs, but other than that, they seemed to enjoy it without getting very enthusiastic. Then again, I was excited out of my mind, so anyone else's reaction would have seem subdued by comparison. The evening was kind of a blur, but here are some of the other things I remember from the show: - Mairead Nesbitt saw me crying and how much I was enjoying the show. She smiled at me. <3 - I knew Glenn and Ronan had just been recently on the Ellen show. They had just returned for the show I saw and I believe that was the very first show where they performed their Adele medley on the Destiny tour. - The audience was pretty reserved. - The seat I was in was set up over top of the orchestra pit. The board was pretty wobbly. Before the show and during intermission, it felt like I was on a boat as people moved around. - Before the show, at the merch table, I talked to someone who was wondering if the red-head was still in the show. I wasn't entirely sure if he was referring to the french model whose name has been lost to time or Lisa Lambe, but although I was somewhat behind on my knowledge of the group then, I assured him I was quite sure neither was in the show. He expressed disappointment, but I reassured him that regardless of who was in the group, it would probably be good. - I got a program and a "Shh..not till I'm done listening to Celtic Woman mug." I love that thing! <3 At the time, I still didn't understand how Meet and Greets worked. I knew they were expensive, but I hadn't figured out the PBS pledge drives yet. I was aware of the concept of stage and greets, but while I considered it briefly, the show was in downtown Detroit. While it's gotten better over the years, that place still scares the heck of me. I opted not to hang around the venue. Celtic Woman Destiny restored my faith in concerts and solidified my appreciation for the group. I felt compelled to share my love of Celtic Woman with others for the first time and counteract some of the heartbreaking opinions I had read while I was going through reviews for the show. I finally got into social media and the various fan forums so that I could have a voice in supporting the group I loved so dearly. Destiny (and all that surrounded it) came along at a time when I needed it most. It was by far the best and most meaningful concert I had ever seen. Destiny changed my life and it will always have a very special place in my heart. <3

- 37 weeks in the top 10 to open its run
- 48 total weeks in top 10
- A string of 41 consecutive weeks on the chart
- A string of 23 consecutive weeks on the chart after dipping out of the top 15 for a single week
During its run, it dropped out of the charts only once: Nov 19, 2016. The album's last appearance on the chart was April 29, 2017. The astonishing chart dominance of Celtic Woman's earlier albums remains unmatched, but I'd say Destiny did extremely well considering the challenges it had to face: - The first album to not feature any of the original Celtic Woman singers as principal performers (Meav was a guest singer and of course the musical director) - The first album without David Downes at the helm - It feature a sound that was very different from their previous albums The group had already been around for over 11 years when Destiny released. The novelty of the group and its revolutionary sound had worn off a bit and as people's favourite singers moved on, it eroded some of the long-time fan base. But Destiny's performance shows that there's still quite a few very loyal fans out there. I think it's also evidence that the group is continuing to make new fans. Destiny became the first (and so far only) Celtic Woman album to ever be nominated for a Grammy Award. Although it didn't win, I think the nomination and the excitement surrounding it re-energized parts of the established fan base. It also drew in new fans and brought a level of attention to Celtic Woman that hadn't been achieved in a while. I'm sure Destiny meant different things to different people. It meant the world to me. Destiny quite honestly changed my life. It was the beginning of the end of many unhappy years for me. It motivated me to go see Celtic Woman on tour for the first time after years of missed concerts. It got me involved in social media and the forums. This album and all the good things that have transpired because of it have made me happier than I've been in a long time. Thank you so much to everyone involved in this album, to all the fans who supported Destiny, and to all the loyal and passionate Celtic Woman fans who, over the years and all the changes, have kept the flame and still believe. <3

On September 29, 2017, I finally met Amy Rivard at the Astor Room in New York and saw her perform live! I showed up before her show to meet her and to give her some gifts. She really liked them, especially the card. I got Candy Canadiana her own gifts too. I didn't get to meet Candy, but she was apparently very appreciative. I also got Amy to sign some pics for me and she even gave me some swag! Amy took me on a tour of the Astor Room. I didn't get to see the basement, but I had to save something for the next time, right? I also got to meet someone else from my home town (I'll give you a hint, it's the same as Amy's) that happened to be in New York to see Amy on the same night. It's a small world. I stayed for Amy's whole show and I really enjoyed it. Performing with Amy were Georgia Weber on double-bass and a new piano player she was performing with for the first time that night. I thought the set was great and of course, Amy sounded fantastic. She was very funny as well. I got to meet Georgia after the show on the subway too! Here's a video clip I took of her performing at The Astor Room: https://youtu.be/K4XO8Ac7aocI have quite a few more video clips, but apparently never got around to editing and uploading them. Here's a few of my pics: I even got one of my photos posted in a magazine in Queens I definitely want to go back and see Amy again! I got to meet Amy once more since then, last Christmas, just outside our hometown. It's absolutely crazy it took so long for me to meet her but I'm really glad I finally did!

Now that we finally have a forum with a dedicated CaraNua board, I figured I'd have a post to get everyone up to speed that isn't familiar with CaraNua yet. CaraNua consists of Alex Sharpe, Lynn Hilary, and Lisa Nolan (who took over for Edel Murphy). Alex and Lynn were former principal singers in Celtic Woman of course, and Edel was formerly in the Celtic Woman choir. They all have outstanding voices and together they produce some of the most gorgeous, crystal clear harmony I have ever heard. What does CaraNua mean?'CaraNua' is Irish/Gaelic for 'New Friend'. The symbol from Newgrange for us represents three voices coming together as one, 3 lives, 3 generations. We also represent this by using three metals on the ornamentation on our dresses that mark significant passages in history; copper, bronze and iron. (Source: https://www.caranuamusic.com/single-post/2016/08/21/What-does-CaraNua-mean) What is the CaraNua logo? Our logo is an ancient Celtic design known as a 'Triskele' from the neolothic and mesolithic eras, found on stones in and around Newgrange, Co. Meath, here in Ireland. Newgrange is over 5,000 years old, dating back to before the pyramids in Egypt. To find out more about Newgrange, have a look at their website below; (Source: https://www.caranuamusic.com/single-post/2016/08/21/What-does-CaraNua-mean) HistoryCaraNua started showing up on social media in July 2016. Here's an early promo video / medley they did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3QEtswyj5oInitially, they were only doing corporate and private events (functions, weddings, parties, etc.). CaraNua's public debut was at Connect16 in Ireland, on September 28, 2016. They performed: - Dulaman - The Parting Glass - You Raise Me Up Here's a link to their performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pQEIjZOLkwIn April 2017, CaraNua recorded an album called Favorite Hymns with Jason Tonioli, which was released on Friday, November 17, 2017: https://tonioli.com/product/favorite-hymns-caranua-jason-tonioli/The harmony and piano arrangements are outstanding! On January 16, 2018, CaraNua performed their debut US concert, New Wings, with Jason Tonioli, at Weber State University in Utah. Those who were able to go were very impressed! CaraNua recorded a second Favorite Hymns album with Jason while they were in Utah for the concert. The album is expected to release by the end of 2018. Before they left Utah (it was a very productive trip), they recorded a cover of A Million Dreams, from The Greatest Showman. The cover was inspired by Evermore, a unique park under development in Utah. The video was a success, accumulating over 60,000 views in a matter of weeks and was subsequently released on iTunes. Here's the link to the video: https://youtu.be/bxae4qlTpg0It is rumored (far from confirmed) CaraNua is considering doing a tour in the fall of 2018.
