What is this CD that I came across? Is it legit?

https://www.amazon.com/Best-Celtic-Woman/dp/B00009QRD4/ref=sr_1_34?keywords=best+of+celtic+woman+cd&qid=1676504585&sr=8-34

It looks like it is from Celtic Collections from 2002, and the redhead is the same. But before CW was officially formed? It includes songs from Chloe, Meav, and Lisa. But lots of others too.

If anyone has it already, do you recommend it?

OK, I was looking at the copyright date on the back cover of that CD (2002).

I guess they used the title "Celtic Woman" loosely to piggyback on the success of the "real" CW. Kind of like how they re-released their solo albums with the added tagline "Celtic Woman Presents..."

Interesting...

Yeah, I believe the original version of that compilation album was released in 2002.

I have a copy which I dug up. It doesn't have a date on it, but it was definitely before Celtic Woman.

Aside from the album name and the presence of some Celtic Woman performers causing confusion, the cover users the same image of a woman with the orange hair that Celtic Woman uses.

Anyways, the album has a few good track from non-CW performers. My favourites are:
- Garden of Graves (Rua)
- Lover's Heart (D'Goya)
- Hand In Your Hand (Aine Furey)

Danny Boy and Caledonia (Aoife) are nice too.

That makes sense. It's like an unofficial  "prequel" to CW if you think about it. That's neat that you have it. I have heard Aoife before on Pandora's version of CW radio, but not a lot of the other non-CW artists.

Yes, the use of the cover model was the most confusing thing for me.

It seems like the concept of "Celtic Woman" was floating around at Celtic Collections for at least a few years before they recorded their first album and PBS special. Even though there are some good tracks on this compilation album, there's no way it would have took off. Fortunately, they ended up with the right performers and PBS took a chance on it.
