Celtic Woman 20th Anniversary Tour / I Know My Love (20th Anniversary)
« on: November 23, 2023, 07:22:08 PM »
Hi Guys!! I've been listening to I Know My Love (20th Anniversary) for a few hours since the single came out and I have to say I'm pretty excited for the rest of the album. It really is a studio album after all.
I noticed some peculiarities on it that are worth talking about. But for now I'll wait for you to listen first so we can talk more about it.

2
Exactly one year ago Celtic Woman released their first Christmas EP since 2014 "O Christmas Tree"
I would like to pay tribute to this small and great gift, because every time I listen to its music (especially The Toys' Waltz) good memories come to my mind.
Happy Birthday CCFI and Happy start of Christmas to all Forum friends  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Home For Christmas / Special version of You Raise Me Up
« on: December 30, 2022, 08:35:50 PM »
Hi guys, I just found online this version of You Raise Me Up that was release back in 2013 for HFC album exclusive in Japan
It's featured the Japanese singer Hiroko Yakushimaru plus the CW girls like Lisa Kelly and the other girls singing in Japanese on last verse

Well folks, Christmas has arrived and one way to celebrate it is to thank God and everyone for the excellent year we had, and on this very special date I would like to thank Glen and Tracie for the gifts they gave me, thanks to you I am here sharing my experience in participating in this amazing virtual show.

Let's start with the New Beginnings concert (June 12)
Well guys, this was the first CW-related show I've ever attended, so it was something really surreal, and I'm leaving my comment for the highlights
Let's start with a question that Mairéad asked the audience, "a song that I've sung many, many times with the CW but I've never recorded it for an album" well guys, at first I just came to mind "Nella Fantasia" and in fact It couldn't be any other way, is it  ;D ;D, Ronan even said my name "Ênio Queiroz" with the beautiful Irish accent and the English phonetics to speak a Portuguese name, it's very cute  ;D. And then the song starts, and my God, how beautiful it was... I must have already said here how this particular version sung by her is my favorite, and it was a complete surprise because I really wasn't expecting a performance like this song, let alone this version. It was one of the moments that I was completely moved, a surreal experience.
Moving to the next what do we have? That's right "Fields of Gold" (if I was standing up at that time I would fall), oh my friends, this is simply my favorite song from the Ancient Land CD, and after Nella Fantasia she sang more this was an explosion of happiness for me ,
Then what do we have? "Like an Angel Passing Through My Room" Oh my God, I tell you, how happy I was right now, this song is becoming one of my favorites on Destiny, not the best, but one of the best. Recently I was listening to the album Destiny on my Google Assistant, and at the moment that song was playing my mother passed my four  ;D ;D, right at the time of the chorus, which I made a point of repeating out loud to her (after I explained the translation for her, even because she doesn't speak English 🤣) so this song has been gaining an emotional weight for me a little considerable...
And then? "AVE MARIA" Oh my lord... This was one of the songs I sang to enter the Conservatory of Music in my state, and it needs no comment, right? I love love love this song, for the arrangement and for the prayer itself, little mother always take care of me ❤️❤️.
And then she even sang "The Scientist" (Coldplay), yes you read that right. Coldplay is one of the few pop bands that I listen to (very sporadically), I don't particularly have this song saved on my phone or anything, but it's a song that I have a really big nostalgia for, and nostalgia is a very powerful tool KKK, after all, this song was featured in some of the movies I watched when I was a 10-12 year old, and seeing our beautiful Mairéad sing it was something just magical, I even listened to the song after that  ;D, because it was something that made me it reminded me of the good times of 2011-2012, and I remember watching Coldplay sing this song on television at Rock in Rio in 2011... Anyway, it was SURREAL  ;D.
Lastly, we have "One Way Ticket" from the Stay Away from Stars album that Mairéad recorded a few years ago, I didn't particularly know it but isn't the music excellent? I liked it a lot, there's something similar to "The Scientist" in it, I have the impression that I've already heard it but I don't remember exactly, as if it were a melody that I already had in my heart for a long time, anyway...
I think I may have forgotten a song or two but overall that was it guys, that was my experience with the New Beginnings show by the wonderful Mairéad Carlin, thank you Glen Swiggum for giving me a ticket, it was a day that I will not easily forget.

Christmas StageIt (18 Dec)

First thanks Tracie for giving me a ticket like this, I was super excited for this one as I really like Christmas music, and besides having a surreal experience at the previous concert, my expectations are high.
We started with "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", OH MY LORD, I already started crying  ;D ;D ;D, and she was singing the CW version of David (without the homonym obviously, since she was singing alone), I recently saw this song being sung by the girls from CW on the youtube tour, and it was something extremely magical, and when Mairéad started the show with this song I thought "I can't believe it" it exploded my heart with joy.
"Silent night" was the next one, this song needs no comment... it's not Christmas without Silent night, isn't it friends? amazing is the only thing i can say... ❤️

Well guys, now things get more touching, next on the spotlight list we have "Orphan Girl", she sang this song before it was released yesterday, so it was a complete surprise, as it was a song that was new from Mairéad herself in years , I paid close attention to the lyrics, and... my God, that song was perfect for me. Here I'm going to go into the merits of what's happening here in Brazil: Basically since the last general elections (October 31) I haven't had a day of peace in my heart, basically a corrupt ideologized party won the elections for president (or rigged the elections anyway), this was the same party that was deposed from power in 2016, and that governed the country from 2002-2016 and was responsible for the biggest corruption scheme in America, and led Brazil to an economic crisis that even today we do not recover. We are currently in a complicated situation and only with the plans of the new government will Brazil become an Argentina, a bankrupt country. To give you an idea, a DVD Postcard From Ireland costs 20 euros, doesn't it? Unfortunately Celtic Collection doesn't ship its products to Brazil, so I have to buy it through Amazon, it turns out that they sell it there for 50 dollars plus some astronomical costs of taxes that Brazil has, the DVD would be for "only" 70 dollars (361 Reais ) LOL, just for you to have an idea, a minimum wage here is 1,100 reais (do you understand now why I ask you to record the special? LOL). And all this is going to get a lot worse in the next 4 years anyway. So when Mairéad sang this song, that was all that crossed my mind, especially in the chorus "Sail, sail, sail me away, Sail to Australia" is exactly what I think and what goes through my mind and the mind of my family in that exact moment "immigration". "Sail, Sail, Sail me, I PRAY" 😭😭 Just yesterday I was crying listening to this song, and as I write this too, it's very difficult to leave the place you grew up, after all I love it here, a nightmare without a doubt... So songs like this farewell are playing deep in my heart, every time I hear "Caledonia" "Isle of Hope"... my heart takes it personally. Anyway, Orphan Girl was the best our beautiful Mairéad has ever done, I loved it, I loved it, I loved every second of it.

Moving to the next one, we have "The Christmas Song" 🤩🤩, every time I hear this song I just remember Susan singing it, but Mairéad did an excellent job singing it, and I particularly liked this version a lot, great and beautiful .
Next we have "The Bleak Midwinter" Mairéad's voice reminded me a lot of Meav singing this song in the HFC special almost 10 years ago, but Mairéad has her own shine and her version of the song was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard of this song, I liked it a lot and your high grades... no need to comment, right friends? It's Mairéad being Mairéad  ;D ;D
The next song is to fall off your chair: "O Holy Night" 🤩🤩🤩🤩 I think I already told you how special this song is to me, it was when I was 13-14 years old that I sang in the choir in French, this song is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, and Mairéad's voice makes the song grow even more, I have no more words for this one...
And last but not least, we have "Auld Lang Syne", this one I don't even comment on... Our beautiful Scottish Christmas song, which gives me hope for years to come... ❤️❤️

Well my friends, this is it, they say that when we receive a special grace from God, it is doubled when we share it. Here is my complete report on the shows of the beautiful Mairéad Carlin and I just have to thank Tracie and Glen for the gift, it makes me very emotional, and it was a surreal experience that I did not expect to have, thank you very much my dears.
I still have one more big post to do about the Special Postcards From Ireland DVD, but this one should stay for the new year, for now I wish everyone a merry little Christmas  ;D❤️❤️

A Christmas Symphony Tour 2022 / Christmas Cards From Ireland - Review
« on: November 03, 2022, 11:22:42 AM »
Well folks, another CW album is on our way, and I'd like to talk about my experience of plastering this album a day earlier (thanks apple music New Zealand and your 18 dollars) ;D

Let's go
First I'd like to talk about the EP cover: I'm a person obsessed with album covers, blurays and the like and I have very high expectations for this EP. I won't go into it but when I saw it for the first time I thought "wow, that's a mess" the blue colors and the dolls gave me a totally unexpected vibe, I was expecting something bright red with Christmas decorations around it, but anyway, I then started to listen to the songs:

The Toys' Waltz
Well, if in the PFI there are people who didn't like the lack of harmony, right away we see that they don't have this criticism to make in this EP haha, the harmonies are beautiful, the girls' voices are beautiful and the mixing is 1000% better, the music in si is really nice to listen to and gives me a modern christmas vibe, some like HFC was. And it's great to listen to Susan but once again, I really don't expect this lovely surprise. I really liked

The Holy Night
Well, here we have a classic Christmas song and my favorite Christmas song of all time! I remember like it was yesterday the first time I learned this song, I was only 13 years old when we sang at a Christmas concert in French original "Minuit chretien". This song has such a strong emotional weight to me that any version of it I automatically like. I learned the English version of this song with the CW, and since there were two versions we have from the group (Original Christmas Celebration and Magic of Christmas) I say that I prefer David's original version just because it's more classic in the arrangement, but this new version is beautiful, it's basically the 2020 version but with Susan instead of Chloë and with some changes here and there, a better mix and among other things... Note 1000.

I Saw Three Ships
Something interesting I saw in this one is that firstly Susan's voice is wonderful (as always) and secondly that Muirgen's voice reminded me a lot of Eabha's, I don't know why exactly but I got this impression, did you have it too? In general, the arrangement is very well done and a special cheerful tone in this one too.

Silent Night
BEST VERSION CW EVER MADE! Like O Holy Night, this song I've been singing for as long as I can remember, and originally I sang it in Portuguese (my main language) and also in German (original language of the song), and I learned the English version listening to CW ;D ;D , previously the version I liked the most was by VoA for being more classic than the others, but this one has a very special touch, after all, this song was not made to be a giant bang, it's a lullaby after all , so I thought it was excellent.

Final considerations
Well, after listening to the EP, I really felt like I was in a forest and on a carousel with the kids in the middle of a Christmas, the arrangements are beautiful and it has a special touch that reminded me a lot of Magic of Christmas, it's my first impression that I I had on the album cover, it completely changed after I listened to it. It was the cover idea for the songs that are there and it conveys a feeling befitting the songs.
Christmas Cards From Ireland is the perfect example of "less is more" is an EP of only 4 tracks but that has more quality than many songs that the CW has released in the past for example. I found it very tasteful and I'm looking forward to the MVs
The only negative I can say is that Hanna is not in it, but that is something that will certainly be fixed when the special or MV airs. So I say I liked it! And I liked everything! From the cover to the last second of music  ;) :D

Megan News / Megan on PFI Tour end
« on: May 31, 2022, 08:45:42 PM »
Does anyone have any news about what happened to Megan? I'm getting more and more worried, none of the girls have spoken so far and neither she has. Clearly this lineup change was not planned... Something happened  :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Postcards from Ireland / Songs Rearrangements - Theory
« on: May 29, 2022, 06:36:36 PM »
It is undeniable that we have a great love for Celtic Woman for its charismatic and beautiful members, however the soul of everything is the music. We are now in what I like to say in Celtic Woman's "third age", with Daragh O'Toole taking the lead in directing new music, and it is to be expected that new arrangements of David's music will appear since (it is suggestive) that Gavin's songs can still be used by Celtic Woman.
With that said, here's a list under my personal taste of the songs that I hope will be rearranged in a version just like or better than the original:

1 - Isle Of Innisfree

You probably remember that the new version of this song was played on the 2020 Celebration Tour. It was one of my guesses for songs that would appear on the Postcards album but it didn't happen, strange, since even a verse of the song is written on the album cover, I think they saved it for the next CD. As well as the Celebration Tour, I believe Megan will sing this one.

2 - Last Rose Of Summer

Oh boy, yessss. This song is one of the most iconic Irish songs out there. As hard as it is to imagine something more beautiful than the version sung by Hayley and Meav, it's completely possible, after all as we saw in the latest album, Daragh has a huge talent in classical and heavily orchestrated songs. I think Megan and Muirgen would make a great show singing this song together.

3 - Nella Fantasia

Every time I think I'll never see Mairead Carlin's version of this song on an album it gives me a real heartache. See how she sang live on previous tours, her love of singing was easily conveyed to us who watched. I hope that the new version of this song (which doesn't have to be something very grand or splendid in terms of instruments, only a piano is capable of moving in this case) follows the same mold as the one Mairead Carlin used. Muirgen would be my favorite for this one.

4 - The Prayer

Well, this song has no indication that it will be rearranged and maybe it won't be, but I particularly wanted it to be. The lyrics of this song are more current than ever lately, and especially the line "Lead us to a place, guide us with your grace, to a place where we'll be safe" is very touching in my heart, how many times in the difficulties of the day by day don't we get anxious and stressed? But knowing that one day all this will pass "guide us with your grace" is the greatest comfort one can have. I think it will be quite interesting to also have the Italian verses present in the original song, so unlike what it was before with David, I think a possible new version will be a duet, Chloë and Muirgen maybe.

5 - Caledonia

Please!!! This is the song that is most special to me, I remember an interview that Susan gave to a Brazilian newspaper at the time of the Emerald tour, here in Brazil. She spoke of how Irish music tells a story, a story of struggle, love, loss, and hope for the people of Ireland. Then she sang Caledonia, and it was the first time I heard this song that until then was unknown to me, and when I related the lyrics of this song with her words in the interview, I was touched. As a worthy successor to Lisa Kelly, Megan would be great to sing this (or Susan as a special guest)

6 - Scarborough Fair

My grandma really liked a medial soap opera that was on TV in 2017 in our country, and guess what the opening song was? Exactly, Scarborough Fair! And I remember one day she cried with emotion when my dad uploaded the video of Hayley singing this song with our Home Teather on. My grandmother unfortunately passed away at the end of 2020 and every time I hear this song I remember her, so the emotional weight for me is huge and I strongly hope that Celtic Woman will one day sing it live with a better arrangement than the original, maybe Muirgen get it.

7 - Mo Ghile Mear

I believe My Galland Star is already THE best song Gavin made for Celtic Woman! And this is an extremely fierce competition, with excellent quality songs and I don't even need to list it here, right? But I think a rearranged version of David's original is imminent, with the original lines. I would particularly love it, however it wouldn't be easy, after all the 2007 original is still extremely well known by the group's fans, so expectations would be high, but I know that Tara, Chloë, Muirgen and Megan would be able to meet them.

8 - Spanish Lady

This one is interesting, I really like this song and especially when it was used as the end-of-show track on the Songs From the Heart Tour, but I have no idea if they plan to rearrange this song because David's version was and still is It's the best I've ever seen, it would be almost impossible to do anything better. I don't have any guesses on how it would be, it can be from a solo (Chloë?) to a group song.

9 - Níl Se'n Lá

I know, I know this song already had a new version on the Voices of Angels album, but the track was exclusive to the physical media of a store (foreign to me) in a super limited version. If I today, at this very moment, want to hear this version through official means, I wouldn't be able to. Besides that Celtic Woman's own management decided not to promote the song by removing it from the Homecoming DVD (it had already been recorded), so I believe it's a good opportunity for Daragh to revive this classic with a better arrangement. Because it's a Ceili song, I hope to see all the girls singing in this one.

Honorable Mention - When You Believe

As we know, the new version of this song is already being performed by Chloë on the Postcards From Ireland Tour, its release in the album version is imminent.

But what about you? Do you think these re-recordings are possible to happen one day? Please let's discuss about it, I love all of this, take the opportunity to leave the lists of songs that you want to be rearranged one day, I'd really like to know.

I wanted to make a post about it because I wanted to know your opinion on the subject and I thought it was cool to debate with you about it. First of all, what I want most from the CW in these years to come is a little more "stability", a lineup without so many changes either.

Recap the eras: When DD was the music producer, CW released four main albums (not counting collections and Christmas ones) they are Celtic Woman, ANJ, SFtH and Believe. They are albums that are obviously different from each other however the sound identity remains very similar, all are orchestrated (obviously one more than the others) but I think they all agree with me. During Gavin's era, we had Destiny, VoA and Ancient Land, during those years we had a super consistent lineup (if we compare with the changes we've had in the past) but I say we had a greater instability in terms of songs, while Destiny has instrumentation more similar to POP, VoA is the complete opposite with extremely classical and orchestrated songs, while Ancient Land had something a little more different with a more folk or country vibe. It's important to point out that I don't think the work that Gavin and DD did with the CW is bad at all, I'm just exposing facts that occurred and that serves as justification for my argument below:
For the Future: As I said at the beginning, I wanted a little more stability, but how do you ask me? bringing together what DD did well during his time (musical identity) and what Gavin managed to do (more solid line-up). if Daragh can bring these two extremely positive points together, he has what it takes to be one of the best (if not THE) music producer CW has ever had.
Obstacles: However, we have a super important key piece: Chlöe. As we know, Chloe returned to The CW originally for the Celebration Tour only, participating only in the American tour that would run until June 2020. However, none of that happened, and to make good on her word, she decided to stay with The CW until 2021 when again we would have the Celebration rescheduled, but it was still not possible until the producers continued with their projects and the result was an amazing Album (which I will still do a full review here on the forum) and an American tour that is worth the original Celebration of 2020. The question I want to get to here is: is Chloe going to stay on the CW beyond "Postcard"? If so, it will be amazing, if not, the songs Daragh made for PFI will be "outdated" after a new member.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Ireland show this summer. You may well remember that Tara leaked on instagram in 2020 that these shows would be the recording of a new special, well, at the time Chloë wasn't going to participate in that show because her contract was only for the 2020 US tour, and (presumably ) the same goes for 2022. HOWEVER, Chloe herself said she was looking forward to the Ireland Shows in August...

Possibility 1 (the best): Chloe has changed her mind and will stay on the CW for a while longer and Daragh's second album will be recorded this summer along with a DVD at the INEC arena in ireland.

Possibility 2: Chloe will stay in the group until the end of the PFI world tour however the ireland shows will no longer be the recording of a special (plans change after all, and this special may have already been the 2021 PFI so...).

Possibility 3 (the least I wish but it is possible): Chloe will finish her mission started in 2020 in June with the end of the US tour and after that a new member will appear for a new DVD in Ireland or just to continue the PFI tour for the ireland and dates to come.

Which of these options do you want, do you agree with my view on the DD & Gavin eras? Let's debate :) :D ;D ;D

Well folks, Postcards from Ireland has already released in New Zealand and I had the opportunity to listen to it, it's absolutely amazing. Maybe I still need a little more time to mature my opinions about this new project but I believe I can give a pre-opinion.

Postcards from Ireland is Celtic Woman's first original studio album released since 2018 Ancient Land, and is also the first to be produced by the new music director. As the name suggests, the album travels across Ireland with songs that represent every part of the island. It is a mega ambitious album that dares in different musical styles, from classical music to the most modern possible.

Possible spoilers ahead:

The Dawning of the Day: Needless to say, just incredible.

Bonny Portmore: It's a solo by our dear Megan, I can say it's one of the best songs on the album with ease, its style is very classic, reminiscent of France.

Mise Éire: Needless to say, amazing as always.

Wild Mountain Thyme: This one is interesting, it's a mix of orchestration and percussion march based on Sarah's version, it was beautiful.

Beeswing: This song has a more contemporary vibe with more acoustic instruments, in general I liked it.

Down by the Salley Gardens: Here we notice Muirgen's voice better, with a song similar to Mise Éire but without being so ethereal, incredible too.

Where the Sheep May Safely Graze: It's played by our beautiful Tara and it's an EXTREMELY classy song, if you told me this song was written in France in the 1700's, I'd believe it! I really liked it.

Angel: Chloë sang this song masterfully, with a beautiful arrangement, I'm very excited to see what it's going to be like on the DVD :)

The Lakes of Pontchartrain: The lyrics of this song are very pleasant to listen to, its rhythm reminds me a lot of Ancient Land songs, This song along with Beeswing were the most contemporary so far.

May It Be: AMAZING, GORGEOUS, It's the same arrangement that was used on the Celebration Tour but only in Susan's voice.

The Clam of the Day / The Banshee: This is the most contemporary song on the album without a doubt, perhaps the most contemporary Celtic Woman song! It reminds me a lot of Destiny songs, more specifically "The Whole of the Moon"

The Galway Shawl: Another song with a Destiny vibe but it's really good to listen to and the DVD should be even better I imagine.

Black Is the Color: This rearrangement was very good, it has some adaptations in the lyrics, the point of view is now like a woman singing to a man, different from how it was in Lisa Lambe's version for example. Her tempo is slow and a little ethereal, I liked it a lot too.

Overall it's an excellent album, were it not for the recent Grammy injustices I would say this album would be nominated for what Destiny was, but it's uncertain. Leave your opinions and experiences too, I love to know.

PS: Just remembering that I'm foreign and my native language is not English, so if I make a grammar mistake, please disregard it. :)

Last week I saw a post on a fan page on Facebook that contained the news that there would be an interview and a pre-recorded virtual show with these girls from the current lineup: Chloe Agnew, Megan Walsh, Susan McFadden and Tara McNeill! Apparently, Susan will be back in place of Mairead Carlin. This post also left the link to the VYE website (online show platform), unfortunately when I open it, the page was already offline so I can't see it for myself, however a photo was leaked and I will attach it to this post, in addition I will also leave the link in case the page goes back to air. All we have left is to wait for the official announcement.

One of the things that I most like, is speculate about the future! So I thought it would be cool to speculate about the show at INEC Arena in August next year

Tara confirmed today in her stories on the intagram that yes! the show at INEC arena that would happen today was the recording of a DVD, we all knew that, after all, it is a show in ireland for three consecutive days and in august. It wasn't new to anyone, right? BUT on the official website Celticwoman.com/tour-dates/ these shows in ireland are classified as part of the celebration tour!

What do you think will be different in this Irish show in relation to the American tour? Will the setlist be the same? Lineup, what will it be? Could this be the show that would be on the celebration DVD that was on sale at the PBS store? What do you think about all this?

Please leave your opinions below, I will love to know.  ;D

PS: I'm not fluent in the English language, so if I made any grammatical mistakes, forgive me  ;)

New Members / Hellou From Brazil!!
« on: March 20, 2020, 10:46:03 AM »
Hello guys my name is Ênio I am Brazilian and I am 19 years old!  ;D

How I Met the Group:
in January 2018 I was looking for a cover of the song May It Be (I'm a huge fan of Lord of the Rings) and found Hayley Westera's version singing on her show / DVD. I fell in love with her, after some more research I found the video of Hayley singing Scarborough Fair on the DVD A New Journey, after that I also saw Orinoco Flow and The Sky and the Dawn and the Sun. And that's how I met Celtic Woman .
I researched more deeply about the group, because every time I saw a different show, the members also changed. After almost freaking out, being able to understand the entire line up of women who have already participated in Celtic Woman and I love each one of them.
Celtic Woman became my favorite music group, every time I listened to a new song I immediately liked it. I have all the Albums / Songs on my smartphone.

It must be very funny to think that a 17-year-old boy met such a famous group at just that age. But as I said earlier, I am Brazilian and Brazil does not have the same appeal for Celtic Woman as US does.

So, having said all that, I'm a big fan, but but but I have some questions for you who are older and know more about the group than I do. 1) I saw it in a forum post that said Deirdre Shannon's departure was a shame. Can someone explain better to me what happened because I researched about it and found nothing about it. 2) I also saw in a previous post saying that David and Celtic Woman don't get along much more, it was researching about, and the only thing I found was news from The Time saying that David "is seeking to wind up the company behind the act, claiming he is owed a “substantial” sum of money. " I was so surprised and so angry, but can anyone better explain this situation? I don't want to judge David without knowing what actually happened. 3) I also saw in previous posts saying that Chloe and Lisa K were arrogant when talking about Celtic Woman, is that true?

Well guys this is it! I know the whole story about Celtic Woman but I have these 3 doubts that were killing me. Please forgive me if I made any mistake in English, I studied English at school and in the course but I am not fluent! so forgive me please.
